There is a group of related women ranging in age from 40-70 looking to go to an all inclusive somewhere next June. I travel extensively but have never done an all inclusive. We would like to have fun, but don’t necessarily need a dirt cheap drinking frenzy. We’d like a nice place to stay, good food and things to do. Any ideas for starting my search? Thank you!

What do you like to do? Gamble, go to shows, hike, swim, camp?

In or out of US? My favorites are in the Caribbean.

Price range? From where are you travelling? The first thing I typically do when looking for an all-inclusive is check out discount package sites online. Booking air and accommodation together can greatly reduce costs. June in the Caribbean is typically just the beginning of wet season and you have the added bonus of kids not being out of school yet so prices tend to be better. After I find a location that looks interesting, I go to TripAdvisor and start reading the reviews. And I read them critically - if someone complains about the lack of night life, golfing, or their inability to get a good burger, it's typically my kind of place. If they complain about noise, rude staff, unclean facilities, I pay more attention. I've travelled quite a bit around the Caribbean and Central America (and researched many more places I've yet to visit). Let me know if you need any specific recommendations. ETA - I guess 'typically' is my word of the day.

The club med Turk and Caicos Is all inclusive adults only the beach is absolutely gorgeous They just redid it because they got slammed by two hurricane last fall but it’s a good party place a ,lot of single people are going there (so there is some hooking up) there is also a lot of couples I go with my husband . And honestly this place is a little bit addictive nobody go only once ,It’s not fancy like a sandal hotel but there is something special about this place it’s really awesome we already went twice and we’re talking about a tiered time .

Excellent ideas and your comments are helping me start to figure this out. Definitely not rustic or camping. We are all US-Midwest and FL and AL. Shows, food, drinks, beach, pools seem like what everyone will want. I cruise a lot and they don’t seem to want to do that. This all just came up suddenly at my sons wedding last weekend. The guys do a golf thing every summer and the women decided we were going to do our own thing. I’m going to explore some of the ideas suggested tomorrow and float them by the group. Then I will get a better idea of where we are going.
Thank you all!

We did Secrets Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic in December. It was beautiful and we would definitely go back.
If beach time is a big deal to yall, the Caribbean is having issues with seaweed washing up. I would read reviews and see how bad it is in the area you consider. They had guys on the beach all day raking it up but it was still a lot.
We just waded through it and then the water was perfect.

Couer d’lene Idaho seems to be an it spot now. There are a couple of big resorts there.
There is sun park in Washington state. My friend liked it there.
I would honestly go to Vegas with a group. There is something for everybody.

They have this lazy river pool that you can walk out to from your room and just float around (especially if you have a ground floor room). They have a pool with a swim up bar. The food in the restaurants is actually GOOD, way better than the food on any cruise I've taken (and I've done several). They do have shows, and dancing, and it's just really, really fun, and the service is excellent. I really can't say enough good things about this place! I swear they don't pay me! LOL

I looked up the Excellence resorts and they look amazing. I want to go to one NOW! My sister in law is coming to visit this weekend and I will be able to get a much better idea of who all is going and what they are willing to do. Regardless, I believe I will try one of these soon. For those that have done this and like cruising - what do you see as the pros and cons? We love to cruise.

We do both... 1 yr cruise 1 yr AI...
The main pro for my husband on cruises that is a con at AI... is mainly male related... but dinner at AI is dress up... no shorts no tshirts.. must be long pants collar shirts closed shoes for men... women have a dress code also but it's mainly no flip flops or beachwear...
On a cruise ship if you dont feel like dressing up.. you can just hit the buffet..
AI is really all about just relaxing on a beach or by a pool... we dont really do any excursions... like we would off ship...
the spa service at the AI is better in my opinion then ship... cheaper too...
We love both.. so we do both with different expectations of the vacation we will have...

Another vote for Excellence! We love all their resorts, but Punta Cana is definitely our favorite! Although, we head to their newest location in Jamaica in February...so that may replace Punta Cana!

They had guys on the beach all day raking it up but it was still a lot. We just waded through it and then the water was perfect. At all of the places we have stayed, there has been an early morning crew who went out and dragged out the seaweed. I thought the problem was it being the ocean!

Eight Mile Beach in Negril, Jamaica had one of the best beaches we've been on. You could walk for miles (well... at least 8 of them). We stayed at a place that was 2 doors down from a Hedonism. Lots of loose boobs with the franks and beans to match! My son saw first hand what his future was (he was 17 or so) and I thought he was going to rinse his eyes out with bleach.
