As a mom of a kid with autism who has a thing for stuffed animals and has at least 150 stuffed animals and still wants a new one every week even though he turns 17 in 3 weeks, I can totally see this. Believe me, we hoped he would outgrow the stuffed animal phase years ago, but at 6’2” he still brings at least one with him everywhere we go. If you don’t have a child with autism, there are probably a lot of things about our lives you couldn’t wrap your head around. We only have about 12 Build-A-Bear ones though and they are ones like the characters from Trolls, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Spongebob, etc. eta: I don’t support the Mom’s tantrum at all; I am just saying that I don’t doubt the 300 if she has more than one child on the spectrum. Ask me about the weeklong tantrums we had in my House because my son saw on the Internet that SOME Jellystone Campgrounds have a build-a-bear type machine in their gift shop where you can stuff a Yogi Bear and he wanted us to drive 4 hours to the nearest campground with one just to buy the damn Bear. Thank you for your answer. That totally makes sense. I figured it was because of the autism that they had acquired so many. I was thinking more along the lines of trying to find a place for 300 and keeping track of them and having to buy a new one that's a little different than the others. I should have made my thoughts clearer. I apologize if I came across as insensitive. No need to apologize! I understood. And it *is* mind boggling. ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Ivm7lm0DayrhoRpwvCeH.jpg) My son happens to have bunk beds in his room and his stuffed animals completely cover the upper bed.

No thank you. I'm sitting here thinking "what item would I stand in line 8 hours for?" A deal on a stuffed animal would not be on the list. Kids or no kids.

So completely stupid! I just cannot believe people do not value their time more than that! So you get a $10-15 discount on a bear but wait 4+ hours for that discount! Really! It just makes no sense whatsoever. And now people are having a coronary that BAB is issuing a $15 off coupon instead of a coupon for "pay your age" to be redeemed later. People thirsty for these bears. Give them a razor, make the money on blades. Sell a bear under cost and make the profit on all the clothes and accessories.

I have to say kudos to the parents at our location. As we made our way to the end of the line we passed a TON of kids. Most kids were sitting on the floor.....they had books, crayons, coloring books, little bags of lego’s. It was loud, but most of the kids were in good moods and just chilling out. I think the whole situation was a cluster, but some people were smart with how the prepared for it.
(I did not stay. I just kept on moving and offered the different toy)
Ironically I saw someone handing out vouchers, but I just left the whole area. When we were leaving the mall, a lady stopped me and asked what the crowd was for. I explained what BAB was doing and she asked if we got one. I said it was just to long and we were leaving, and planned to come back. She said “maybe this will help when you come back and handed me a BAB gift card”. I thought that was so nice!!

My DD went there with a friend, they had 5 kids between them and all got bears. 7 1/2 hr process. My DIL took 1 and 3 YO boys, but got there after they closed the line, so nothing. She did not mention any voucher. It was crazy hot today, so hanging out in an air conditioned mall with friends, probably raiding the food courts and letting the kids play was an ok way to pass the day I guess. DS, DIL, two YO granddaughter and I went to the river. Much better. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180713/1099aadd80f5efc44c9e76e449a1b274.png)

I don't understand the outrage. It's not like something like this hasn't been done before. Hello Black Friday!! Did anyone participating not think that this would a)be a huge crowded event, b)supplies would be limited, and c)you might not get what you came for? Seriously. All the butt hurt people just make me shake my head.

I've never been in a BAB store. My boys weren't really into stuffed animals.
My husband and I did stand in a ridiculously long line last Black Friday at the American Girl store. Our god-daughter's parents had asked us to get a whole slew of stuff that was on sale as part of Emma's gifts from Santa. Actually, I stood in line while he ran a poor little salesgirl ragged filling the list we had. Nonetheless, the moral of the story is you will do a lot for the love of a child.
And when I have grandchildren of my own? Well, shoot. All bets are off. I *will* be that crazy lady who does this kind of nutty stuff to make them happy. Lol.

I thought about going yesterday but with my kids' attitudes when they woke up decided not to. Made the right decision! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Logged into my BAB account last night and noticed a $15 voucher to print out before tomorrow. Only one per account though, not per child. Can't help but wonder if they *knew* this was going to happen and used it as a PR stunt to promote the new birthday program (get the birthday bear for your child's age during their birthday month). I wouldn't have known about the program otherwise!

All the butt hurt people just make me shake my head. I don't either. There was no guarantee or promise every child was going to get a bear. Do the parents complaining not have eyes? They couldn't see the lines and people and realize the odds of getting one is low? I do feel bad for those families who can't afford BAB normally (lots of kids in a family come to mind) and was counting on this promotion to be able to give their kids the BAB experience at least once.

The comments on the BAB FB page were entertaining.
Have none of these people experienced Black Friday or a new video game release? Not everyone walks away with the items and lines are ridiculous.
Why does everything have to be equal among children in families? Why not age appropriate? An 8 month old doesn’t need the BAB experience. That is for the parent. For those with multiple children, take them on their birthday as their gift. Then, the expense is spread out & not such a hardship.
It’s simply much easier to complain than look for solutions.

I'm 43. I really think that's a lot for a bear. Exactly. I'm not paying $45 for a stuffed toy! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg) LOL The highest anyone would pay they said is 25.00. That was the cutoff price. So if you were over 25, still pay 25.00. We we’re going to go because dd wanted a shark. We weren’t going to go until dinner time when DH got home. Never made it. I knew it it would be a disaster. Good in theory, but for only ONE day, it was a problem from the get go. Should have been a 3 day weekend event or more. That would have solved the huge lines maybe. I printed off the voucher and DD will get her shark next week.
