And the answer is.... YES. Apparently you CAN deposit a check that is 11 months old. I did and it cleared and there were no problems. Still...I don’t recommend it.
OP: Yes.... reason #243 why I’m not a fully grown adult. I found a check that was issued on August 25 of last year. I must have set it aside (that’s a crazy time of year for me) and forgotten about it. I found it when I was cleaning out my desk today. I looked all over the check (front and back) and there’s no “VOID after xx days” statement anywhere on it. It’s a check from a large corporation (not an individual!) and is for $195.

I would go inside the bank and try to deposit it with a teller but I would also be prepared for the check to be voided. I would have no issue contacting the company who issued it, they’ll have it on record that it was never deposited.

Changing my answer...no, it is up to the discretion of the bank whether to honor it or not.

My understanding is that there is a 6 month time where the bank has to cash it. Over that and it is up to the bank. If you are depositing into an account at that bank, I think they would still do it.
Since it is a corporation, it isn't like they just get to keep the money if you don't cash it.

Well—I went ahead and deposited it through my mobile bank app. I mean if they cash it, great. If they don’t, I’ll call the company that issued it. What’s the worst that can happen? I just won’t spend it until it clears....

I had an old check I didn't deposit and the amount eventually made its way the unclaimed property division in my state. It was kind of a hassle to send all the ID's and documentation, but I did get my money back. If they don't cash it, I would contact the company asap. Keep the check if you have it. I had to give them my check which was easier than providing some other documentation.
Don't forget to periodically check the unclaimed property didion in your state!

I would deposit it. While it is up to the bank whether to accept it or not, in all actuality it is probably more dependent on if the corporation disputes it. Obviously depending on how their check processing is setup I don’t believe that most banks would charge back a check 11 months old.

Probably not...even if it doesn't say Void after XX days, the company still may have stale dated the check. The best thing to do would be to call the company and see if it can be cashed and if not, ask them to void and reissue it.
