Have you ever bought a refurbished Kitchen Aid mixer and have an opinion about it? I was looking at the professional 600 stand 6 quart. I have had the Artisan series for 20+ years and it's still going strong. I'm hopeful there will be a sale on Amazon Prime day! Some background info... I am going to be teaching middle school Home Ec next year - I'm so excited! I had a huge garage sale of all my first grade materials and am using the money to buy new things for my classroom. It is fully stocked, so I'm buying fun stuff (well, what I consider fun stuff). I have enough money to buy a Kitchen Aid mixer. I have 8 student kitchens that all have hand mixers, but know I'll need to have at least 1 stand mixer for some of the lessons. I can buy an Artisan new, but the professional one would be a stretch.
Thank you for sharing your opinion!

I live in Ohio and toured the Kitchen Aide factory. Here is what I learned:
1. Stores are not allowed to restock returned Kitchen Aide merchandise. Even if it was returned unopened because it was a duplicate gift.
2. Most of the refurbished merchandise is truly brand new but was returned because it was a duplicate gift.
3. All merchandise that is returned to factory is thoroughly checked over and then reclassified as refurbished and placed for sale only with Kitchen Aide.
If I remember correctly, they come with the same guarantee. I would without a doubt buy the refurbished model.

Thank you for sharing your opinion! Go to your local restaurant supply stores. They may be able to sell you deeply discount Hobart machines. Have you checked your school district inventories? Have you talk to your school district purchasing agent?

I have had a refurbished kitchen aid for about 10 years now. No worries, no problems.

There is some inventory from old home ec classrooms, but it's pretty sparse. I have a pretty amazing budget for the class, but I know I'll be needing 2 new stoves soon. I was thinking I'll start with one now and hopefully will be able to purchase through the district a few more over the next several years. Thank you!!

If my beast ever dies, I will be looking for an old machine.. I prefer a 1980 model when they were still being made by Holbart//

My moms refurbished Kitchenaid is 30+ years old and still going strong. Mine is a 10 year old refurbished model and still runs like new. Go for it!

Thank you for sharing your opinion! I've bought other refurbished items before and they all work GREAT! Also, I am a former middle home economics teacher. Feel free to pea mail me if you need any suggestions.

The pricing for refurbished machines on their website is still higher than sales prices I've seen during Black Friday and coupon stacking sales.

Do you have home shows in the fall?
The kitchen set ups are sold at a discount. I could have bought a Viking gas stove, retail $12 grand , discounted to $4 grand. The only reason I don’t have that stove is the salesman thought I could not afford it. He walked away from me as I was pulling out my checkbook. I was so pissed 😤 that I have never been back in that store.

A long time age I purchased a refurbished KitchenAid Epicurean and I love it just as much today - it is truly a workhorse! I love the 6 quart size and power of the motor - one of my best purchases.
