I wish people had better listening skills or even reading skills...
So I needed a referral from primary cares office for an out of network MD. I send a note through their online system stating MD's name, address, phone number and reason I've been referred to him. This is an ongoing issue that primary care is aware of and it's the 2nd out of network referral. I call to follow up after a couple weeks to make sure it's in the works because I have a consult the next week with said MD. Referral dept says oh yes all set. I had given MD's name and said that i'd been referred to him for surgery so was surgery approved etc? "Yes, it's an ongoing issue so it's all approved until resolved."
Because the first out of network referral resulted in my insurance company sending me letters of approval which I haven't gotten this time around I decide to call them today. They've had no contact from my primary care requesting this.... So yeah the referral lady that I spoke to wasn't listening or paying attention when I spoke and has done nothing to secure the referral I need. ARGH! Seriously how does a message through their system and a phone call not result in someone doing what needs to be done? So now I've left a phone message and another system message saying that we have a problem that needs to be addressed.

I hear you. Are they just that overworked? I had an appt with my PCM last week and needed prescriptions renewed. I brought in a list of meds, dosages, number of pills needed, etc. I go to pickup the meds and one is missing, another has only one renewal (vs the standard 2), and another one wasn’t enough medicine to get me through 3 months (standard filling procedure.). When I talked to my PCM about it less than an hour later, she replied that she can’t be expected to know how many times a day I take the medication. In spite of the fact that she was the prescribing physician and had the list I’d made her IN HER HAND. Arrrgh!

This is such a major beef of mine. I know nobody's perfect, but I can barely take care of my own crap and now I have to double check for everyone else and do their job, too. And, good luck getting someone who messes up to actually own it or apologize. Grrrr. You have my sympathy.

we called our house insurance company for the 4th time this week. they failed to send us a bill and now, need to rewrite the policy to start it again..this is california earthquake insurance. thank goodness there has not been a big one in the 6 months this company did not send us a bill. so we are trying to get it restarted. the other three phone calls we talked to real people who promised they would call us back.. never did. I am hoping the 4th person will call us back with the quote. this stuff is expensive.. but our house is our biggest asset and we are wiling to protect it.
