sleepingbooty when I read "he came.... even Jesus" I giggled like a 12 year old boy Same here—wth is that really even supposed to mean? I'm not sure, but with Easter approaching it's hard not to add a "he is risen" joke to it. If Hell turns out to be real, you can find me making s'mores over the eternal flames! I'll have enough to share!

Ya'll! I'll never be able to go to church again without silently laughing inside thinking about this. Hopefully it'll be silent so I don't get smacked by my momma who thinks church ain't funny!

So she says she “stepped away from social media” as she often does. But hold on, everything she did amd where she went is saved over on her personal account. I mean seriously. So not really a break.

Poor Becky. She needed a break cuz her life is hard. As compared to Nurses working crazy shifts to keep Covid patients alive, say. PS - She was 45 (or however old she is) before she realized that "My reality is not the only one." Groundbreaking, Becks! These and other brain-dead musing on the podcast. How do these women (and their acolytes) function in the world and not know the basics well into their 40s?

She was 40+ when she discovered hydrogen peroxide removes fresh-ish blood. *furiously pages julie5* As a physician's daughter married to a physician. I mean, come on, what do you expect from this one? She does provide the easy laughs (more like eye-rolls at this stage), I'll give her that.

There’s a list of words that she uses that I cannot stand. One of today’s words: PONDER.
Not sure why she annoys me so much. Maybe it’s the preachiness, the superiority.

I mean her degree was in “family science” whatever tf that means. I guess that’s Mormon speak for “marry rich amd make babies”. I know this was discussed before, but it is a real degree. It's also a degree where jobs are limited if you don't go on to get your master's degree. Two of my sisters have one and my niece. One sister got a job working for Early Head Start. Another was a stay at home mom for several years and got her teaching credentials through a program in our state. My niece got her masters in something to do with the Elderly?? I don't know but she got to go to Switzerland for two weeks to observe senior living communities. They were NOT from BYU, so there is that.

Becky put her French Dip recipe in today's email and my body just shriveled up like a slug after reading it. SO much sodium! Canned beef consommé, canned beef broth, and canned French onion soup. There's nothing wrong with using canned ingredients but that's so much salt.

It is ok occasionally but let’s hope it isn’t a lifestyle choice for anyone.

I'm a shit cook so I really shouldn't judge, to be honest. I was just surprised considering all of the "health" stuff she's been pushing.

Sacrebleu, why? As a French person, I'm offended. Call it Peoria dip or something, come on, canned soup in a crockpot is not a recipe. I couldn't even find canned beef broth or canned onion soup at the [très français] grocery store.

slight tangent, but since I was reading Becky's post about her 6!!! Six!!! New notebook designs, based on teachings from the Book of Mormon... I fell down a Wikipedia rabbit-hole, googling the scriptures she referenced. I just came across this-- from the Wikipedia entry about Nephi, son of Lehi--
"An angel appeared and stopped them, telling Laman and Lemuel that, because of his righteousness, the Lord had made Nephi "a teacher and a ruler over them."[18] Finally, Nephi returned to try one last time.[19] Before he got to the house of Laban, he found a drunken man passed out in the street.[20] The man was Laban.[21] Nephi was then commanded by the Lord to kill Laban, an idea he struggled with because he had never before "shed the blood of man."[22] The Spirit told him that it is better for "one man to perish than for an entire nation to dwindle and perish in unbelief."[23] Nephi followed through with the command and then dressed himself in Laban's clothing and armor.[24]"
This is just SOO foreign to the concepts I was taught as a child growing up in the Lutheran church... is there no 'Thou shalt not kill' in the Mormon church?? He was commanded to kill someone? and he did it? Just to get these brass plates, whatever the heck they had on them?!? And Mormons don't see anything wrong with this?
I don't know much about the Mormon church (besides what I've seen on South Park) but that, and this tidbit, is enough for me. I mean, the fact that the Earth is only 6000 years old and that Jesus supposedly came to America are out-there enough, but...

My friend, I fell into the LDS rabbit hole once upon a time and I've still not found my wayt out of there. It's bonkers wild. Joseph Smith's writings and his life. Murder, racism, impossible sea travel, con artists, lies, etc. I will say it's absolutely fascinating to me as an outsider. But it's madness. This has got to be one of my favourite religions I ever looked at ever despite being so young and having such a dry sense of writing (kudos to anyone who manages to finish the LDS teachings). Tiger King is a bowl of boring unsalted peanuts in comparison. I'm not sure how many seasons one would need and how much work would be required to do it justice in TV format. You may want to check out the history of the blood atonement principle in the Church of LDS on the matter you brought up. Modern-day Mormons tend to say that since Laban's murder was sanctioned by their god, it's not considered murder. And their god ordered Laban to be killed by the "good", "honest" Nephi because he had already judged him and letting him live would have had disastrous consequences. So yes, they're using the Minority Report excuse.

So yes, they're using the Minority Report excuse. Basically. Sure you don't want to convert and serve an 18 month mission for free, because you nail it with the explanations! Silly sleepingbooty. That was taught by former prophets who are dead. We can't truly understand why this happened, or it didn't happen and that was NEVER sanctioned. No one can understand God's ways. He works in his own time. That was in the past. Modern day revelation has stopped it now!!!
I'm sure Becky will come out with all the stickers. They pick one set of scriptures to read each year as an entire church. I'm guessing Book of Mormon this year. Yes, the Bible is in there too.
P.S. I never had to take a blood atonement oath. I was told it was more of a ceremonial ritual thing, than hey I'd kill for the church. I was active 1980's- 2008. Sometimes it helps to know how long someone was or is still a member because you get a lot of I WAS NEVER TAUGHT THAT and you question your reality thinking you got it wrong.

I have no idea why but "impossible sea travel" stuck out like a sore thumb to me lol! What does that even mean or do I even want to know lol? I am kind of the same way with polygamists. Totally bonkers and unbelievable insanity but I have read many book from women and children who have escaped (Warren Jeff's era) and watched so many documentaries on them! Fascinating and weird at the same time.
