If you read a few comments down, someone asks her what the REASON is for her suddenly being so involved in LGBTQ. Her response is still very vague, ANNNND it reminds me SO much of someone I know that is overly/ weirdly evangelical and NEVER gives straight answers to any of my questions. And the way BH says " I'm not for everyone..... I just keep showing up as myself".....ugh, that ALSO sounds exactly like my family member's weirdly new language they use. Same with "INTENTIONAL"....I cannot take that word any longer! I have actually blocked my family member from my socials so I don't have to cringe! Um, if it were actually about love then it HAS to be about policies. Do you not want the people you claim to love to have equal rights? What kind of person says they are signaling ‘love’ one day and then NOT care about policies suppressing the right of the individuals they claim to love and support? You can’t love & support someone and then support policies that suppress & discriminate against them. It doesn’t work like that. That’s not love. I'm blocked by liftandloveorg on my scrappy Instagram account. I usually don't look for LDS accounts unless I get really mad about some new policy in the church. I'm guessing I said something like LGBQT people will never be accepted unconditionally by the LDS church. They have to remain celibate and not be in a same sex relationship until the day they die in order to remain a member in good standing. Life is much better for them if they leave.

If you love, you'll care about politics and policies. How can you foolishly ignore the law-making sphere and pretend it's not about rights? I hate this privileged stance where you get to hide behind some rainbow-coloured apparel instead of calling your followers to join the good fight. Quite preaching hypocrisy. The world doesn't need sock visibility but votes and pushback against Christian conservatism. This is the only way not only your own kid will lead a better life but especially those who do not come from a comfortable middle class position.

I hate that there is such a high rate of suicide among gay Mormons !!!  ** I loved it when one of the guys said "I just wasn't good at being straight!" I've had gay male friends throughout my life, and the fighting to be straight was a common theme for ALL of them. So, so sad! It always killed me when they'd say things like "do the haters realize that we would never CHOOSE being gay---why would we subject ourselves to all the bullying, cruelty, discrimination, etc. My friend vented to me that he couldn't put his husband on his health/ dental insurance, couldn't have his husband as his power of attorney for healthcare, legal, and financial decisions. He'd always say "I WISH I loved women, my life would be so much EASIER!!" |

I wonder if HE is an LGBTQ ally? somehow, I doubt this guy is an LBGTQ ally... that terrifying looking dude in the past pic is Elder Russell Nelson, the current leader of the Mormon church. (and I agree, he does NOT look friendly in the least- and not friendly is an understatement.) eta: he has 9 daughters, 1 son, and has FIFTY-SEVEN grandchildren. 'Be fruitful and multiply' indeed. And he's 97 years old. Is it un-Christian of me to resent the fact that this dude is still hale and hearty and my dad died last year at the age of 90, and I didn't' even get a chance to see him one last time because of a stupid pandemic that his followers seem to be pretending isn't even happening? (don't answer that- I know it's un-Christian of me... but dammit...) |
