Now she is asking people if they would be interested in buying copies of her recipe pages. Personally I am only interested in copies of my own recipes but it sounds like a lot of people are interested in purchasing copies. http://instagr.am/p/BmWW_InA0u1 Square albums you say? Someone must have 6x6 or 8x8 albums they need to unload.

For those wanting to make their own recipe album, I've been meaning to buy these templates. Is anyone familiar with this website?

An 8x8 print is 0.99, so essentially just shy of a dollar for every (pretty generic) recipe she’s shared? No thanks. As someone who usually champions a less “begin with the ending in mind” approach I’m kind of surprised she advocates for printing one recipe per page in a bulky binder compared to the average cookbook, which is much thinner and has several recipes per page. Alas, I don’t have the large custom built kitchen to hold it all

DD wants me to make a family recipe book. I can see incorporating family photos of occasions where the recipe was used. As for printing, I would probably just print everything on my color laser printer using cardstock. The 6x8 size for SNAP albums seems just right.

I want to do the 8.5x11 size since I have an abundance of binders. I've mostly been using the Cricut From my Kitchen cartridge for divider pages. I've been slowly buying paper that has a country kitchen or 50's kitch kind of vibe. I'll probably just print them on regular paper. I have a clipboard on the wall I attach them to when I make a recipe. I must have sheet protectors. I'm a messy cook.

Ah, yes. The latest of Becky’s random ideas to reinvent her fame. Other than her super fans who’s really going to want to buy this? I agree with the above posters. I’m much more interested in my own recipes and some signature dish recipes from friends.
Granted I don’t shop in high end stores or know the latest and greatest cooking trends but I’ve never heard of cooking stones and had to google it. Wow. Those would be way out of my price range. Heaven forbid she just use a regular cookie sheet like most of her target audience probably does.

Why would I want to purchase her recipes? The only recipes I would purchase are from you know - qualified and renowned chefs.
Bore off Becky. You’re irrelevant. Stop trying to make relevance happen.

Also, she could legitimately run into some copyright issues here. I doubt she created these recipes--so they belong to someone else. Typically if you alter one or two ingredients you can get away with sharing them for free (or even if you don't alter anything, if the original creator shared it for free and you link back that's not an issue either). But selling someone else's recipes for profit? That is definitely not allowed. Especially if the original creator is still trying to sell those recipes, such as through a cookbook. ETA: I see she credited "Allison Whittle's version of Nestle Tollhouse cookies" on the page. Doing that is fine if you're sharing it for FREE. Not if you're selling it, Allison Whittle definitely would need to give her a license... and possibly Nestle, depending on how close the recipe is (and considering Nestle is a huge corporation, depending on how large her sales are, they might not care if it's super small... especially considering they likely give the recipe out for free on chocolate chip packages). For those wanting to make their own recipe album, I've been meaning to buy these templates. Is anyone familiar with this website? Thanks for posting the link. I'm not familiar with the website but I think for $6 and you get the PSD files to make it your own, it's worth it. A few years ago I wanted to capture my favorite recipes and those of my family and friends to create a recipe binder for Christmas gifts. I was surprised at how few digital recipe/cookbook templates there were. I tried to create my own template but I didn't know where to start and failed miserably. I came across a class from Scrapaneers for Recipes for $20. The files were set up for pocket scrappers but they came with PSD files, so I knew I could use them as a base to recreate my own templates to suit my needs. I wanted to add sections area to put any notes or changes to the recipe, any family stories that go with the recipe, and where the original recipe came from (cookbook, person, website). I checked and I don't see this class offered anymore. I logged into my account and I was able to download the kit, but couldn't access the videos. Anyway, I thought you all might get a kick out of this recipe that's in my book. I printed it back when you could print it for free on her website. (Yes, back in the day I followed BH). Whenever I'm invited to a BBQ or party, I'm always asked to bring these. When I walk in the door guests stalk me and ask if I've brought my "Peanut Things". {deleted photo} ETA: In case you're interested, I need to update the notes in the recipe. We like them cold so we keep them in the 'fridge. When I make them for DH and I, I make a full batch and freeze them, uncut, wrapped in plastic wrap, in the freezer.

Why would I waste a piece of paper for that recipe when it's already printed on the chocolate chip bag?

Can't help thinking that this should be a freebie. It would generate some goodwill. And these recipes aren't groundbreaking. What makes me sad, though, is the casual "hey guys, I was just thinking you might like to buy ..." Becky used to share recipes freely. It just seems a little desperate.

I don't understand why such a wealthy woman needs to monetize every dang thing: her favorite things, her recipes, etc. Put a little out into the world for free, Becky, as recompense for your enormous luck in being born intelligent, middle class, w/a loving family, etc.

To be fair she is giving us something for free- great lifestyle tips like having snacks on hand at the house will prevent you from having to stop on the way home from picking the kids up to feed them.

In her effort to monetize everything she's going to be selling her used shoes on her website soon! Good grief it's like every day its something else, I literally can't stomach her anymore!

She’s rapidly turning her brand into a garage/thrift sale. Without the good prices. This recipe thing is ridiculous. Like so many others have said I would do this for family recipes, but never for her recipes. I doubt she invented any of the recipes she would be shilling, I bet all of them are ones easily found online for free. Sadly, there will be plenty of buyers though. I wonder what is in Becky that makes her so desperate. Does she need the validation? The adoration? The feeling of contributing? It can’t just be money, she seems like she lives a very comfortable life and doesn’t need to work. It is so odd to me how hard she is working to find something that will stick. She had a good thing going, why doesn’t she just stick with that if she needs the attention so badly?

good point @skellinton ! I wonder if there is a bit of money issue strictly on the PL side of things? We all know her dh is a doctor so they should be pretty comfortable just based on that. But her PL company employs what, 4 or 5 people, plus her. So she needs her cut for sure. I'm just wondering with the big box stores not carrying her products and so many kit clubs that are doing PL style of kits that its not eating into her profits big time. Plus she pushes that app like its the greatest thing since sliced bread and the app is not a consumable item. Realistically you could buy the app and be content with what it includes...no real need to purchase more. Now we know scrapbookers like to buy so people will buy more of the digital kits. It just seems a little questionable that she's become so desperate to sell anything!

After the crazy success of Project Life I think she is unsuccessfully trying to find the next big thing. Unfortunately she’s doing it quite publicly and nobody really wants to know how the sausage is made until it’s a done deal. She’s throwing so many ideas at the wall trying to see what sticks,it’s painful to watch. I love PL and it’s the majority of my crafting, but if I never buy another kit of any kind, I have enough stash to complete albums back to my childhood.
I remember when there were so few PL core kits and everyone was waiting for the next release. When they arrived at Archiver’s nobody was quite sure what it was all about. I ended up explaining the whole idea to employees and customers one afternoon. I should’ve made commission!
Heidi Swapp has also branched our into different areas, some more successful than others, but I don’t get the same feeling of desperation from her.

I think Heidi has always been into altered items, ephemera, so creating product lines around stuff she’s been doing along is not out of her realm. Becky, on the other hand, seems to be doing her very best to kill her bread and butter: project life. There are so many releases that are digital or app only. How is that sustainable? This thrift store thing she’s trying is just weird. She’s having an identity crisis.

I haven't downloaded it for my new phone (had since December) because I haven't needed it since then...I like to print off the rounded ones with square corners, but now I might need to download it so I can work on saving my faves and uploading them to my computer to print off again. I had been waiting to hear about a 99 app sale again since they used to drop the price of the app to 99 cents during those.

I am curious about the journling on photos thing that is an add-on. I don't mind paying for that. I have an app that gives me play store credit when you take surveys that I will use to pay for it.

Why would I pay Beggy to print someone else's recipe? For all of her attempts to lessen clutter by switching from PL to digital you'd think printing recipes that you can simply bookmark or save to your PC wouldn't be something she'd recommend. Who knows? Maybe after the success of PL she began to live above her means and is now struggling with debt. Just a thought to try to make sense of her desperate attempts to stay relevant and bring in cash. I have no idea what her financial situation is.

I think the journaling on photo add on this is why I'm so annoyed that she switched the app to free, she came out with that update at the same time. So for people who previously paid for the app they were stuck with a free product (that they paid for) and had to pay more to get the update? It seemed like a huge money grab to me--make the people who already paid pay again to get the update? I think the right thing to do would've been to announce that the app was now free and there was a paid add on, but then give the add on to everyone who previously paid for the app as a thank you for buying the app when it was pay. Maybe i'm being petty, I know it's just a couple of dollars, but it rubs me the wrong way.

I understand putting it on sale once in a while, but why give it away? I like the app enough that I paid for it (it is the only app I've ever purchased). I've purchased a few kits and the free form text option, but I don't plan on investing too much more. Too many kits=too many choices, which slows me down.

My guess was that the app wasn’t selling anymore. Anyone who was interested had already bought it and the only revenue she was getting from it was from in app purchases. She probably figured if she made it free lots of new customers would download it and she would have a larger market to try to sell her in app purchases to?
