McMansion overload is coming! On a different superficial note, I wonder when she'll quit the square nails. They are so unflattering for her hands and finger shape. Everytime I get a manicure they automatically assume I want the squared nails. And almost every person I see who has regular manicures has this shape too. I don't think it is flattering on anyone. Also curious about the practicality of a fireplace in Arizona. I haven't checked out her house (I followed her on Instagram just to see her videos, but then unfollowed because I didn't want to see her neediness any longer), but I can speak to the practicality of a fireplace in Arizona. Is it necessary? depends on where you live: up in the mountains it does get cold and will snow... think Flagstaff (there's a ski place there), Prescott, etc. We have a wood-burning fireplace in our house (we're about 30 miles south of Phoenix), and we DO use it during the winter, but more for ambiance than for its heat. All the houses in our neighborhood were built with either fireplaces or wood stoves. And, where we live, it's a bit higher in elevation so we do get freezing temps at night for a few weeks during the winter. BUT-- we live in a county that doesn't have restrictions on fires-- we can have a fire whenever we want. Depending on where Becky's house is being built, she may not be able to do that. Maricopa County, where the city of Phoenix is, restricts fires VERY heavily, mainly due to air pollution considerations. So if she's building anywhere in Maricopa County, in my opinion, her fireplace is mostly for show. (they ALWAYS have burn restrictions at Christmas and New Years, which are times that most people would WANT to have fires, for instance.) |

On the whole fireplace thing...
I used to live in Arizona and, before that, California and lots of people have them just for decoration (even though technically they are functional). In reality how many people actually use their fireplaces? And, even if they do, it's more for the experience than actually creating functional heat. I live in upstate New York now and we have a fireplace and were told by the house inspector and the heating people that, while it is fully functional, the cold air that comes in from opening the chimney counteracts any heat that is created so that the boiler will work harder than without the fire. We've never actually used it, but I love the look it gives to our living room.
So I don't think anyone should fault her for getting a fireplace in Arizona, most houses have them, even in Maricopa County (where I lived) where, like said above, you actually can't use them most of the time anyways.

Totally not faulting her for having a fireplace. Not having lived in that part of the country I genuinely was curious. Agree that most people don’t use them with great frequency but I didn’t know it was common in more (what I would consider) mild climates.

I’m in Indiana. My house came with a fireplace and we’ve used it exactly 3 times. In Colorado and we mainly use it Christmas Eve. I always giggle at home shows when people comment on having to have a fireplace. I will say it is the living room and the stone goes up a good 18-20 feet and it is definitely the thing you notice first about my house, but we rarely use it. |

Using wood fireplaces are not allowed where I live unless it's your primary heat source because of our crappy weather. I'd like a gas fireplace, definitely not wood. Anyway, carry on.

This all reminds me that one of the things on our to do list is having our fireplace looked at. It has not been serviced in the entire time we've lived here (and probably not for years before that, either) and one of the first things my oldest did when he learned to walk was knock over all of the fake logs. The only place my husband and I have lived together where we used the fireplace was a wood burning one. Loved it...except for the one time we thought the flue was open and it wasn't and our entire living room filled with smoke (aahhhh, good times, good times). We never tried to use the gas one at the rental we had before we bought this house and this house has a gas one, too. Given that this house was a foreclosure and the prior owners did the most bizarre repair jobs you could possibly imagine (and not even bandaid fixes...I mean things like wrapping a leaky $2 piece of PVP piping with cement instead of spending $2 plus the cost of glue on a replacement piece), I will not even try to figure out how it's meant to be used until it is properly cleaned and we are assured (and taught so) that we won't burn the house down if we try to use it. I don't even know how much something like a chimney cleaning would even cost. Do you even use a sweep for a gas stove since the logs are fake? I'm sure there is still smoke build up that you'd have to contend with. See? Best to leave it to the professionals and to not attempt to use it until I know what I'm dealing with. Since we've lived in this house over 8 years, you can tell that it's a super high priority for me. 
I almost want to see if it would be wiser to close it off and insert one of those decorative sleeves you can control with a remote control. I also had no idea that use of things inside of your own home could be regulated. Hopefully we don't have any of those regulations here and somehow had been in violation when we did use our fireplace. Learn something new every day. |

She caught up in two hours so she made a class out of it. So the class is free right? But you can only access this free content if you purchase her normal yearbook class. Seriously?! Becky, it’s not free then. I actually replied saying that. Who knows if they will see it.

I was wondering if the class wasn’t selling well. I feel like this is the second time in about a month that the class has been on sale and now she has added on this additional content, for a cheaper price. Also, I find this is even weirder, she is closing the class “forever” on March 31st. I don’t know why she doesn’t just keep it open like Shimelle’s classes. As far as I can tell, it’s not a “live” class and I imagine that the content would be pretty evergreen. I don’t understand the business sense of closing this particular class. |

But I still never looked when we did use our wood burning fireplace...literally had NO IDEA it was such a problem. I often bemoan the fact that we don't have a wood burning fireplace here because I feel like it wouldn't be as scary although I bet that gas is easier once you know how to use it. Either way, I'm not going to be operating mine until I have it serviced and am told that it's safe to operate and given how long our household list of things to address is, that won't likely be anytime soon. |

Someone asked about the family yearbook class being any different than her blog entries. One person responded it's like a collection of the blog entries, in order, and in one place so that it flows better. So I cannot answer your question.... |
