If people get out to vote in state-wide races (gov, senate), we could fix a lot of the crap going on in the country. #GOTV Yep. All politics is local. FB gave me hope today, which is rare for the platform I will admit. My neighbor was posting that even though they don't agree with their politics, she and her husband are proud of their exiting college freshmen twins for being involved in the political process as they were canvassing for a Texas Senate seat. Many of the neighbor's friends and family made joking, though kind, remarks about their support of the other party, some people quoting misleading information. Saying that when the kids have to pay taxes they'll move back to the right. I just sat there smiling, staring at the photo of the Beto for Texas button on her son's shirt. Thinking, they don't get it. There is a shift happening and it's about the treatment of people over policies. Our county voted 84% or 86% Republican in 2016. It's a small town. This is the environment they were raised in, and the people they were raised with. Yet, they're canvassing for Beto.

Ann Coulter is on Rob Lowe's roast and getting booed.
She is disparaging Hillary and Obama...and praising Trump. Not going over well. Her jokes are pathetic and all political. I've never seen nobody laugh at a roast before.
ETA: She has pimped her book about three times.

This is the environment they were raised in, and the people they were raised with. Yet, they're canvassing for Beto. I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again- I think these "damn millennials" (and genZ) get a bad rap. They are more informed and have it much more together than I ever did. Of course there are and will be good and bad in every generation but the current upcoming seem to get called out more than before, perhaps because of social media. But social media is their "born on it" thing and they know how to use it better than those before them. All these "damn kids" that I know simply want fairness and kindness despite your color, sexual orientation, where you're from etc. I told my DD that I was amazed by the courage to speak out that her generation has like none before. In turn, DD said yeah but your generation spoke out enough for the foundation or base for us to continue on. So yeah, these damn kids basically judge people more on kindness and compassion than most other things. They don't care who or what you are as long as you're not an a-hole to others. In the end they seem to want us all to get along, can you imagine the nerve of them! (I can't argue with that.)

More blatant lying about easily debunked claims from the liar in chief. Remember the good old days when we had to take things "with a grain of salt" when we doubted a politician's spin on something until we could fact check it? Hell, now with all the outright lying coming out of the WH daily our food is soon gonna be pretty bland because we have to be running out of salt soon.

It really stands out to me that Jr has security & Mueller doesn't. I really hope that he actually does & we just can't see it, because I would imagine there's quite the target on his back. Cohen too. Lol! Some of the memes of this photo are freaking hilarious. People ARE clever

“Wow, highest Poll Numbers in the history of the Republican Party. That includes Honest Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. There must be something wrong, please recheck that poll!”
Kyle Griffin in response...
“Presidential approval polling didn't exist during Lincoln's presidency.”

John Dean....
“Trump wants to campaign 6 days a week for Republicans. That’s a good plan. Keeps him out of trouble in Washington. His base loves him. His ego needs them. He doesn’t have a clue how to govern or lead so just let him hold rallies and talk gibberish, and play president.”
Sounds like a plan.

Chris Murphy...
“Pro tip on who’s responsible if government shuts down this fall: (a) Republicans control House (b) Republicans control Senate (c) Republican President just told you he wants to shut down the government in the fall”
Was in response to this from trump’s Sunday morning rant.
“I would be willing to “shut down” government if the Democrats do not give us the votes for Border Security, which includes the Wall! Must get rid of Lottery, Catch & Release etc. and finally go to system of Immigration based on MERIT! We need great people coming into our Country!”

“A day after Trump hailed "a breakthrough agreement" on trade with Europe, European officials said the president and his aides are exaggerating the scope of their new pact.”
Gee why aren’t I surprised?

One view of the meeting between trump and the Publisher of The NY Times.
“Statement of A.G. Sulzberger, Publisher, The New York Times, in Response to President Trump’s Tweet About Their Meeting
July 29, 2018 Earlier this month, A.G. received a request from the White House to meet with President Trump. This was not unusual; there has been a long tradition of New York Times publishers holding such meetings with presidents and other public figures who have concerns about coverage.
On July 20th, A.G. went to the White House, accompanied by James Bennet, who oversees the editorial page of The Times. Mr. Trump’s aides requested that the meeting be off the record, which has also been the practice for such meetings in the past.
But with Mr. Trump’s tweet this morning, he has put the meeting on the record, so A.G. has decided to respond to the president’s characterization of their conversation, based on detailed notes A.G. and James took.
Statement of A.G. Sulzberger, Publisher, The New York Times:
My main purpose for accepting the meeting was to raise concerns about the president’s deeply troubling anti-press rhetoric.
I told the president directly that I thought that his language was not just divisive but increasingly dangerous.
I told him that although the phrase “fake news” is untrue and harmful, I am far more concerned about his labeling journalists “the enemy of the people.” I warned that this inflammatory language is contributing to a rise in threats against journalists and will lead to violence.
I repeatedly stressed that this is particularly true abroad, where the president’s rhetoric is being used by some regimes to justify sweeping crackdowns on journalists. I warned that it was putting lives at risk, that it was undermining the democratic ideals of our nation, and that it was eroding one of our country’s greatest exports: a commitment to free speech and a free press.
Throughout the conversation I emphasized that if President Trump, like previous presidents, was upset with coverage of his administration he was of course free to tell the world. I made clear repeatedly that I was not asking for him to soften his attacks on The Times if he felt our coverage was unfair. Instead, I implored him to reconsider his broader attacks on journalism, which I believe are dangerous and harmful to our country. “
And then there is from. “It’s everybody else’s fault” trump’s version..
“Had a very good and interesting meeting at the White House with A.G. Sulzberger, Publisher of the New York Times. Spent much time talking about the vast amounts of Fake News being put out by the media & how that Fake News has morphed into phrase, “Enemy of the People.” Sad!”
And this by Resist summed it up nicely...
“The media always gets played by Trump. Always. Going to the meeting, The Times was going to get played. His tweet after the meeting will do more damage than anything gained by going to the meeting. Do you think your pleas will be heard?”

I don't even understand what this says lol My slimy Representative interviewed on Fox talking about the Russia meeting: “If he’s proven to have not told the whole truth about the fact that campaigns look for dirt, and if someone offers it, you listen to them, nobody’s going to be surprised,” Issa said. “There are some things in politics that you just take for granted.” and “Businessmen listen to almost everyone who might be helpful, and by the way, they make pragmatic decisions about how to make bad stories go away,” Issa replied. Why would anyone be surprised that the campaign met with someone offering dirt on the other side? Everybody does it and the ends justify the means. You do whatever you need to do to win. No big deal. Politics as usual. The second part is scarier IMHO as he normalizes threatening, bullying and paying off people as just "pragmatic" business decisions important people make every day. Pragmatic: dealing with things sensibly and realistically.

This from Madeline Peltz....
“Tucker defends Alex Jones: "I know we're supposed to think Alex Jones is way more radical than Bill Maher or Michelle Wolf or Rosie O'Donnell but he's got a point of view and CNN is trying to squelch that point of view."
Prompted this from Paul Szoldra...
“Some of Alex Jones’ point of view:
—“No one died” in the Sandy Hook school shooting (2012) —Obama used secret “weather weapons” to kill Americans (2013) —Democrats want to carry out “white genocide” (2017) —Democrats would launch a second civil war on July 4th (2018)”
How could we forget the second civil war we started on July 4th. By the way, did we win?

trump - 91%Family & Friends - 63% Mainstream media - 11% I just...I'm gobsmacked. To me, this is different than realizing he is a liar but don't care because you are getting what you want. Or because he's "just like you" and speaks "PlainTalk" and is "owning the libtards." He has told proven lies, given misleading or inaccurate information, well over a thousand times. At least once before I got out of bed this morning. Even my Democrat in Denial (TM) husband, who believed the lies and spin told by conservative media before the election, admits that if Trump is opening his mouth complete crap is about to come out. I just.dont.get.it.

Given the fact that this poll was comprised of Strong Trump supporters it doesn't surprise me or depress me at all. I'm just grateful his base hasn't increased in the past 1+ years. I am also really encouraged by the young people getting involved with politics.

Notice who is missing...
Reuters.
“Very positive signals' after U.S., Taliban talks: sources”
“A meeting between a senior U.S. diplomat and Taliban representatives in Doha last week to discuss a possible ceasefire ended with "very positive signals" and a decision to hold more meetings, people with knowledge of the talks said on Sunday.
The meeting between a delegation led by Alice Wells, deputy assistant secretary in the State Department's Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, and Taliban representatives was first reported in The Wall Street Journal but has not been officially confirmed.
According to one Taliban official, who said he was part of a four-member delegation, there were "very positive signals" from the meeting, which he said was conducted in a "friendly atmosphere" in a Doha hotel.“
Where is someone from the Afghanistan government? Don’t they have a say in what happens to their country?

Trump's supporters don't care about nuance, reality or truth. Just easy-answer slogans: Build a wall, etc.
Every time someone on the left cares about "shades of grey", complexity of policy, unintended consequences, the gullible geniuses in the Trump base's eyes glaze over and they start looking for the easy (wrong) answers to life.

Philip Rucker...
“White House aides say time on the golf course -- especially in Bedminster, with its lush, rolling hills -- helps Trump clear his head after a busy week as president. Check his Twitter to see what he's thinking right now, after two days of R&R.”
Ok I’ll bite.
trump after he left the links and time to clear his head..
“When the media - driven insane by their Trump Derangement Syndrome - reveals internal deliberations of our government, it truly puts the lives of many, not just journalists, at risk! Very unpatriotic! Freedom of the press also comes with a responsibility to report the news...”
“accurately. 90% of media coverage of my Administration is negative, despite the tremendously positive results we are achieving, it’s no surprise that confidence in the media is at an all time low! I will not allow our great country to be sold out by anti-Trump haters in the...”
“dying newspaper industry. No matter how much they try to distract and cover it up, our country is making great progress under my leadership and I will never stop fighting for the American people! As an example, the failing New York Times...”
“...and the Amazon Washington Post do nothing but write bad stories even on very positive achievements - and they will never change!”
“There is No Collusion! The Robert Mueller Rigged Witch Hunt, headed now by 17 (increased from 13, including an Obama White House lawyer) Angry Democrats, was started by a fraudulent Dossier, paid for by Crooked Hillary and the DNC. Therefore, the Witch Hunt is an illegal Scam!”
Wow I missed two.
“Is Robert Mueller ever going to release his conflicts of interest with respect to President Trump, including the fact that we had a very nasty & contentious business relationship, I turned him down to head the FBI (one day before appointment as S.C.) & Comey is his close friend..”
“Also, why is Mueller only appointing Angry Dems, some of whom have worked for Crooked Hillary, others, including himself, have worked for Obama....And why isn’t Mueller looking at all of the criminal activity & real Russian Collusion on the Democrats side-Podesta, Dossier?”
Seems like his time on the links gives him time to stew about things as opposed to “clearing his head”.
