kellyr21 , I know I already left love on flickr for your living room decor, but man, do you ever have an eye and knack for decorating. I wish we lived close, I could supply you with eggs and sauce and you could help me decorate. grammadee , so sorry to hear you little guy had a melt down, but glad he could be calmed and is good now. I'm happy to hear that your trip was a huge success. I would so need a week to unwind after that trip and you're having company this weekend. Enjoy! I'm in the home stretch of craft room reorg. Well, not really, I'm doing a huge push to just get things pseudo put away and to clear the kitchen table. DD is wanting to sew and watercolor, so she needs the space. Plus: This Sunday, DS turns 16. OK, now my vent: Don and ds left today to go to my MIL's for the night, and then tomorrow they'll go to FIL's wedding. I knew they (fil & the girlfriend) chose this weekend, and I wasn't happy, but Don & DS will be back Saturday evening, so I'll get to spend his birthday with him. I thought ok, I can deal. However, now that the day is here and they had to leave, I'm super ticked at FIL for choosing ds's bday weekend to get married. DD & I are home, because if she travel to Chicago (a 5 hour one way trip) for a weekend, she'd be sick for 3 weeks. With school starting, it just wasn't going to happen. I just hate not being together. We picked another batch of garden veggies this morning. Don was taking some to the family members and I'll be working on preserving the rest. But with dd wanting to craft tomorrow and Saturday, it means I'll have to get up early to work on them to not interfere too much with her activities and give her the attention she'll require with the sewing. So I should be wiped out by Sunday evening. Hope everyone else has a more relaxing weekend planned.

LisaDV- I would love to exchange food/veggies for decorating! LOL! That would be so fun! I look forward to having a space to grow veggies and flowers. I grew up with that and miss it. Your baby is 16!!! Wow, he is growing up and driving. I hope you were able to celebrate with him the way you wanted. DId he request any special food or desserts? He sounds like a good up and coming cook. I didn't know if there was a mom's fav that he requested of you to make. You haven't seen any more bears have you? So scary! I am sure your live stock wouldn't like to see the bear either. lol

Hello, Pokeys! I am sorry to be so absent this week. It has been quite the week. On Monday DH finally agreed that it was time to go visit with the Low Vision people about helps for the blind and nearly blind. This has been hanging over our heads for a while, but I had to wait until he was ready. We hoped they would have good news, new inventions, etc. No such luck. He came home very discouraged. He will probably be considered legally blind by the end of the year. Then the next day he went to the Dermatologist to learn that he has a large, very aggressive cancer on his head. He started radiation treatments Tues and Thurs will have 16 more treatments. Wed we went to a meeting and came home to find that the torrential rains flooded our carport again. A young man we don't know noticed and banged on the door to tell us, but we were not home. He noticed we had sandbags near, so he and a friend totally sandbagged the back door and saved our basement. When we pulled in we had 16 neighbors standing in 2 feet of water using 5 gallon buckets to throw the water out. We had a small amt of water in the basement, but were able to mop most up with towels. I am so grateful for caring neighbors and friends. We have lived here 45 years and this has only happened twice. We now have a pump that will help if it happens again. Consequently, I haven't done much scrapping. I did finish a page this afternoon between washing out every towel, rug and rag in the house. LOL. kellyr21, I love, love, love your living room. You have such a good eye for color. I hope you find the pillows you are looking for. I would love to see the rest of the room and nook when you finish. I can tell you are enjoying the process. LisaDV, you have had a busy summer. I'm sorry about your DS's b-day having to be shared with your FIL. I can't believe that little guy is 16! Glad the electronic band helped DD. I hope it continues to do well. What are you two sewing? @elaynef, did your couch come? When are they going to do your roof? I'm sorry you have to have that done. But you can sit in your lovely new living room and ignore the noise. justjac, I don't know how you have any stamina left after all your traveling this summer. I hope you can take it a bit easier as school starts. msliz, I am enjoying your Disney layouts. I plan to do some scraplifting. I have a few photos from DD's family trip this year. Have your girls returned to school? Do you have your scraproom back? You are really cranking them out. grammadee, it's wonderful to see your face pop up in the the profile pix. We have missed you but knew you were having a great time. I'm sorry your DGS had a rough time separating. I'm sure he got pretty attached to you and grandpa. The Team challenge has been fun. I've decided I'd rather just scrap and then look for points, rather than trying to get lots of stuff on. I like my layouts better that way. woodysbetty, how are things in your area? We have heavy smoke from all the fires around and then torrential rains which flood the burn areas. I hope you are getting some scrapping done. Sorry for the long post. Have a great weekend, everyone.

Oh, nylene , that must have been a really stressful week! So sad about your dh’s Eyesight: I can understand why he would be depressed by their assessment. And then to learn about the cancer? Totally unfair! How far do you need to drive him for radiation treatments twice a week? And what wonderful neighbours you have!!! Glad they were able to save your home from most of the flooding. Hope you are having a relaxing weekend, LisaDV , crafting with dad while the guys are gone. And that you will get to do something special with dgs for his birthday, even though it might not be right on the date. ((((Hugs)))) to you and your dd, @elaynef as you attend the funeral. Lovely to spend time with family, but not for that reason! We went out for supper with friends and family last night. Are hosting a quick brunch here this morning, then off to town for a catered “come & go” tea this afternoon. And then the celebrations will be over. Didn’t quite take 50 days to celebrate 50 years, but it feels like it. Everyone is heading home today I think. Not sure about my free spirit brother whose motor home is parked in our yard.

nylene, I so sorry for Steve! He & you have my prayers. You have had a monstrous week. Hugs! I'm happy that you have such wonderful neighbors though. @elaynef, sorry you and your dd have a funeral to attend. hugs to you too. Quick update on my end: The boys came home Friday night, after the reception. They got in about 1am Saturday morning. Although they were wiped out all day Saturday, they enjoyed being home and rested for the big day on Sunday. Although all we did was watch 1 tv show and play games. I did make ribs on Saturday and on Sunday grilled chicken legs and wings per the birthday boy's request. He also had his usual chocolate cheesecake for his cake. It had to have the oreo cookie crust (I don't buy oreos usually). So I had to do a 2nd one for dd which I halved the recipe for, except for the chocolate part. She said it's so chocolatey and the best ever. Today I take him to get license #1 (we have the graduated license system). This one gives him the right to drive with mom and dad for 50 hours before moving on to license #2. DD & I made tote bags. Next week she'll start a dress and since homeschool starts up, we'll be working on hand embroidery too. She also did a water color of the aurora borealis. OK, off to get things done. I'm still behind.

Happy Monday! We had a fun weekend. I was still on the pillow hunt for large 24x24 or 26x26 for my kitchen nook. I didn't find what I was looking for so I decided to keep the ones I bought a few weeks ago. They are the right size but the fabric seems like it will fit better on a bed. But today on Target's website, I found some pillow covers that I think will look much better. So I hope to order those. Sunday we spent time with my in-laws. They went to church with my dh in the morning and then they picked me up and we went to Mimi's Café and shopping at Kirkland's. We had a fun time and glad to see them. I even made two cards for my mil. She celebrated a birthday last month. I wanted to make some picture cards using a few pictures from her party. I almost forgot I wanted to make them and Saturday night I got to work and made one regular 5x7 card and an accordion card, too. They came out nice and I will post some pictures tomorrow. It felt good to see my mojo appear after a long hiatus. nylene- Oh sweet Nylene!!!!! I was getting concerned when you hadn't been here for a while and was hoping everything was ok. But it sounds like when it rains it pours! My heart goes out to you and your dh. My prayers are with you both and wishing you strength, courage and even some joy in the mist of all this stress. Hang in there friend! What great neighbors you have too. They really saved your home from flooding. Sending you a big ole' hug. One day at a time, ok! grammadee- Girl, after 50 years of marriage you deserve 50 days of spoiling and fun. LOL! I am so glad you both completely enjoyed it all. But I know after a while you just want to get back to normal. LisaDV- That dinner you made and the chocolate cheesecake sounds so delicious! Your son must of enjoyed it all. I would of. LOL! Glad to see your dd creating and sewing. Does she feel good and free when she is making things/crafting? I know it has been good medicine for me and hope it brings her lots of relief and expression. Maybe she will be a happy crafter or a famous fashion designer when she grows up! @elaynef- How's it going? Waving hi to you all and have a night evening!

nylene- love that layout with the red flowers...hope things are going a little better at your house. Update us on dh! grammadee- love to hear about all your anniversary celebrations. You have more energy than the energizer bunny! lisadv- Love hear about you and dd doing projects together. All my dd are crafty, too. One knits a lot, another does a lot of crafts with her boys in homeschool, and loves home decorating and the oldest, does a little of everything. She is always learning something new...jewelery, card making, she brought me crochet flowers for sbing last week. kellyr21 You have been working hard shopping! Me too. However, I live in a pretty small town and seems I am doing most of my shopping on line. Waiting for a rug, upholstery fabric, staples, lamp to come. After I get all that, I will find drapes. My decorator encourages just buying 1 thing at a time. Its hard to be patient. misliz waiting to hear your latest news! justjac hope you have a great year at school and your first days go smoothly. It seems it would be like a new job every year...which would be hard for me. I only changed jobs when I was forced to, and hated change. I'm still working on the wedding albums. I got to show them to one of the bridesmaids last weekend and she put sticky notes on some of them that she wants me to email to her. The funeral was for dsil stepfather. His wife and I share 4 grandchildren and she lives very near me so we know each other pretty well. She asked us to sit with the family. He was 87 with no children of his own so not much family except hers. It was very nice. dsil is going to be helping her with her finances so he and dd will be making several trips here to do that. They'll be back for the weekend coming up. He took care of all the finances and she knows nothing about any of them. She has been very concerned about that for a while, since she knew he was not doing well and was not taking care of them. It's surprising to me how many women are in that position. But I guess my situation is strange to them since I have always had that job and dh was glad to give it to me. dsil felt like he was making good progress already and his brother is also helping. She is supposed to get appointments with a financial advisor and someone to do taxes this week so he can go with her when he comes. They found several letters from the IRS in his piles of papers....scary!
me and my 3 dd at wedding ...made this page this morning.

Happy Tuesday! I have been getting more work done around here. I cleaned and even cleaned my front door for the first time! LOL! I never though to do that but I got a good look at it yesterday and boy was it dirty. I ordered my pillow covers today and can't wait to see them. Just have to redo my kitchen table with better containers for our stuff like vitamins and fruit. I have some cream colored flowers on the table but they need something. So hopefully by next week my little nook will be ready for lots of visits by me with a cup of tea gazing out the window at the sparkling blue pool. (sounds of poetic LOL!)
I posted two new blog post. I shared some art I did on cardboard and the photocards I made for my mil. Stop by if you can.
Cards for My MIL
Cardboard Art
@elaynef- Sorry to hear about your sil's loss. I hope everything works out. What a beautiful picture of you and your dds. I didn't know you had three girls. Any sons? Just beautiful! I hope you can start seeing your den transform. At first, when I was redoing this living room, it didn't seem like it changed much after all the additions. But then last weekend it finally came together. Yeah! I still have to finish the walls with more art and pictures. Then it will feel complete to me.
Waving hello to you all and have a great evening!

kellyr21 , I'm glad you had a good weekend. Your paintings on cardboard are beautiful. I especially love the lady. As always, your cards are beautiful. I know your MIL enjoys them. Sitting in a nook with a cup of tea and a pool scenery sounds idyllic. @elaynef , I would have a hard time being patient by ordering one thing at a time too. I would just be so excited and just want it done. I'm so sorry about your dsil's stepfather. I worry about dh & me if something were to happen to either of us. We split the duties of things with the idea of getting together and discussing the items and each having access to them. But seems like life is always so busy that that portion gets not only pushed aside, but we can never remember since we're not the ones dealing with it. I take care of banking/day to day bills, he does long term investments. I hope dsil's mom can quickly get up to speed and that the irs thing is not a big deal. That is scary. On the lighter side, your page is lovely, and you and your girls are beautiful! msliz , are you excited for school starting or not? justjac , how is your school year going? I just signed DS up for his 10th grade year. His classes start 9/10. I was afraid they would start 9/4 but got lucky. He did just finish last years coursework at the beginning of this month though, so it's nice that he's getting a break. I think I'll postpone dd's school year until 9/10 as well. Gives me another week to maybe do some more cleaning since I haven't been very house productive over the last 2 days. I didn't join the pokey's until 2014 when I moved up to Michigan from Ohio, but lived close to scrapincin in Ohio previously unbeknownst to me at the time. DH is now interviewing for a position back in Ohio, again close to where we lived before. It's made me miss Cindy. If he gets the Ohio job, we could have gotten together.

How did the driver's test go, LisaDV? And the birthday celebration? I know you wanted to spend time with ds on his special weekend, but looks like you and dd made the most of your girl time. Love the bags! Glad you got some scrapping done, too. I continue to miss scrapincin, too, LisaDV. She had a way of making us feel close even though we lived so many miles apart. If your dh gets that job, would you be moving? After all that work you have done on the acreage? Now that you have the scraproom to yourself again, msliz, what will you be working on/playing with? Love your page of you and the girls, @elaynef. Very simple design, but that and the happy colours really help that photo to be the star. I could NOT decorate by going one piece at a time. I would need to see it ALL together before I could make any real choices about where each piece would go. It is sad that your son in law needs to deal with all that hasstle, but there is at least one good thing about it if they will be visiting you more often. How was the reunion, nylene? I hope you both enjoyed yourselves there after that depressing week. How is your dh doing? Glad to see you are having fun with your painting, kellyr21, even using the packaging cardboard. Your flowers are getting more and more realistic. And woodysbetty, I am glad you got a little time to scrap. Our family/friends/neighbours gathering was nice. There were between 80 and 100 people there, and I think they all had a good time. It was nice to have justjac taking photos with my camera, because I was kept pretty busy greeting people and having small conversations with the guests. I am looking forward to printing the photos so I can really see who was there! I managed to do a couple of 2 page spreads this week, but I think this will be it for this month. I may have a bit of time to paper craft tomorrow, but I need to make a bunch of thank you cards and some sympathy cards, so there will be no more pages for awhile. Saturday I leave to go grandparent dd's little guy for a week while she is off at orientation for her PHD program. Here are the four pages I finished this week: canasta land by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Birthday Boy by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Birthday Boy 2 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Hii Pokeys, As I mentioned, DD15 is back to school as of yesterday, and DD20 will move back to her dorm on Sunday. Most of her stuff has been sitting in the dining room all summer, and she finally started rummaging though it yesterday trying to get organized to go back. I've just been busy with all the last minute shopping and appointments. It's been too hot for yard work, so I've been spending free moments getting rid of clutter and doing a little bit of crafting - on the floor. I told DD15 she could keep the table until after the 3 day weekend - but after Labor Day, it's mine again! It hasn't been all bad hanging out on the floor though; I've done more sit-ups these past two weeks than I have in a very long while LisaDV , Are you hoping this job works out? Moving is hard enough on most people, but you'd have to find a whole new medical team for DD. Would you be close to good hospitals? @elaynef , I'm glad she has the support of her family to help her through it all. I hope the IRS thing isn't as scary as it sounds. Beautiful photo of you and your girls! kellyr21 , such amazing cards! Especially the accordion fold card. The papers and ribbon are perfect for your photos! I love the portrait too. I know you were just playing on scrap packaging, but it came out really nice. I hope you'll keep painting more faces (love your blue lamps too! ) grammadee , It sounds like it was an amazing party! I bet justjac loved taking pictures for you - can't wait to see them when you scrap the pages! nylene , I just don't know what to say. It's just one awful thing after another. What a show of support from your neighbors though. I'm sure they'll continue to be there for you as you're dealing with Steve's illness. Don't be afraid to lean on them - they've already shown they want to help. Please take care of yourself and give yourself plenty of moments of kindness. I should be using this time to get ready for a crop I'm signed up for this Saturday, but I'm worried it's going to be cancelled again for lack of interest. There are only 6 of us signed up. ETA: yup, rescheduled (sigh...) See you all around the boards.

msliz good for you crafting on the floor. I did a bit of crafting in the living room this month, but it was my own fault. My craft desk was such a mess that I couldn't face it. grammadee 's anniversary tea was lovely. She and her DH are such good hosts. She is going to have to share a few photos with me. I was so busy with her camera that I didn't take any on my own! nylene My thoughts are with you and your DH. Your neighbours sound wonderful. I'm glad that was one less thing you had to deal with. Great pages LisaDV. Your son's birthday meal sounds delicious. How do you feel about the possibility of a move? kellyr21 good job with your cleaning. I am so far behind. I intended to clean this summer but never got to it. I need to do one thing a day instead of procrastinating about the whole job. @elaynef that is a great picture of you and your daughters. The first week of school is going well. I'm getting my classroom set up. The students don't start until September 4. Since I got up early (off and on) this summer to exercise with my friend, my internal clock wasn't out of whack with my work hours. I'm going to try to implement daily routines to help me keep up with my marking and housework. I think less screen time will have to be a big part of that. It will free up more time to get other things done.

Happy Friday! grammadee , no driver's license. I didn't have all of the forms I needed. Ugh. We have another appointment next Thursday. Luckily DS doesn't really care and wasn't upset over it, only me. I left love on the August sharing thread for you layouts, but must say again how much I really like that Canasta double pager. msliz , you are so nice to let your dd have the table. I'd be like, you're younger, you get the floor. I'm sorry that your crop is rescheduled. Hopefully, you'll get more time for crafting once all the back to school activities are over. justjac , it's so nice that you don't have to reset your internal clock. I know that helps so much, yet my family struggles with it. I've been thinking of less screen time for myself as well. On the MOVE/JOB front, DH started a conversation with 2 different companies months ago, when it became apparent that his major client would be drying up by the end of this year. Both finally set up interviews or final interviews this week. Monday was OH. Wednesday was a MI company. It looks like he'll receive an offer from both. We've discussed and will be accepting the Michigan company even though the $$ might be better at Ohio. We will move regardless of the position. I'm looking forward to a nice house again. For Ohio, I'd want to sell the farm. For Michigan, we'll only be 3 hours from the farm, so we'll keep it and continue to work on it. And I'll probably spend summers every few years here to put in a large garden and raise chickens for the freezer. The down side to Michigan is finding a new GP for dd in that area, as in Ohio we're already in the Cleveland clinic healthcare system from previously. Since dds visits are only every 6 months, I'll be keeping my dds here. He is really that good!! However, it'll be a more populated area so there should be more access. Since dd doesn't travel well, we'll be looking for a place close to town. So I'll update you on what actually happens.

Hi, friends. I am so behind on chat and commenting. It will take a while to catch up. I took DH in for his regular eye treatment Monday and he tested legally blind. We thought we had a few more months, but it's official. I noticed that day that my right eye seemed to not be seeing well. Knowing that one of us has to be able to see, I went Tues and found that I had a small separation not serious, but had a growth on the lens. On Wed they fixed it all with a laser. For a while it looks like I am seeing thru spider web floaters, but it is going to get better. It's hard to read or do computer stuff against a white screen or page. I really dropped the ball on Pokey Peas this month. I hope you will all forgive me. We are hoping for a great month in September!! I will post the September thread later tonight. LisaDV , I was sad to think you are going to be moving, but glad you can keep the farm. You have done soooo much work on it that it would be a shame to sell it. Best wishes on the decisions. grammadee , I have hardly had a chance to welcome you home. It sounds like you had a great time. Congrats to the two of you! msliz, I am glad you will get your scraproom back. I remember those years of kids in and out during college. It seemed to keep the house in confusion all the time, but I loved having them come home....and also to return to school. @elaynef , that it is a beautiful page of you and your daughters. You look alike and all have the most beautiful smiles. Thanks for sharing the page with us. justjac , I hope you enjoy being back in school. You have so much energy that I know you will be able to keep up with housework and schoolwork. Have a great year. woodysbetty , I see that you have done some scrapping this month. I'll catch up to each of your pages soon! kellyr21 , I haven't looked at your blog yet, but plan to do that later today. I always love your album/cards. You have such a great touch. I just got an email from Maggie, Cindy's granddaughter. She is back in school and enjoying it. It's so nice to chat with her and she seems to enjoy having someone to talk to about Cindy who loved her too. She wanted me to tell the Pokey Peas hello for her. She's a sweetie, just like her grandma. Be back later to welcome in September. Thank you so much for your prayers and well wishes for us.

Happy Friday! Sending you all a warm hello. I got my jumbo pillow covers yesterday. I was so surprised they came so fast. I just ordered them on Monday from Target dot com. So the little nook is looking better. Now I have got to rearrange the table items. Also, this weekend I will be working on my most challenging wall. We have an old wall heater that we rarely use. It sits smack in the middle of the wall and is an eyesore. I have been looking at ideas to lightly cover it. So I will be playing around with these ideas. I want to put some pictures on that wall too so we'll see. Thanks for all the positive comments on my art and the cards. I am working on more faces msliz and maybe flowers too. nylene- Sending you a big hug too. Hang in there and I hope September is a more peaceful month. Great to hear from Maggie! Sounds like she is handling this lost well. It is still so hard to believe our sweet friend is gone but I know she would be cheering us on. So onward and upward!!! grammadee- What a gathering you both had. How nice! I know justjac got some good pictures for you to scrap. Congrats again!!! msliz- I know you will enjoy getting back to crafting on your table but it is sweet your dd enjoys it too. Back to school time already. I hope your dd has a great semester. woodysbetty- Good to see ya! justjac- What grade do you teach? I did k-3rd mostly when I was a substitute teacher. I still remember that adjustment to get back in the swing of things. Seems like my throat and voice had the most adjustment with 7 or 8 hours of talking/instructing. Hope this school year goes well for you. LisaDV- Wow! These are some big and exciting changes for your family. It would of been great if you lived near scrapincin and could visit. She would of loved that. But it sounds like Michigan will be your home. Wishing you all the best as you make plans. I think the chickens will miss you tho'. Keep us posted! Hope you all have a nice evening and weekend!
