Oh my. That is a risky gift. I think I would laugh about it, but I'd probably ask where my real present is. I do all of the gift buying in our family and my husband feels like he needs to do a decent job taking care of gifts for me.

In the past, he has bought me some really gorgeous naughty underwear, tasteful and sexy but that's just tacky and it smells like a cheap beach ball. Happy Birthday! My dh would be dumb enough to do something like that so I was trying to not be amused by this, but the fact that it smells like a cheap beach ball has me giggling! If it were me i'd buy him a beautiful diamond bracelet for his birthday! |

Happy birthday! At least the costume jewelry (which I'm hoping was included & surprisingly seems to cover more than the garments) looks versatile! Otherwise, from a man's perspective, the gift was likely intended as a reminder on your birthday (which you're admittedly self-conscious about) that you're attractive to him.

Thank you for the birthday wishes  So his reasoning was this, it's been really hot here and I've been complaining about it, he thought this would be the perfect thing to wear to keep cool  Somewhere in his man brain it made sense.
And of course, he wanted some 'adult fun' too.

You don't have to wear it outside...... this may well be a miscommunication. He may find you sexy and want to enjoy you wearing someting like that. Not that he means for you to wear it to the pool/beach, just the bedroom. I agree with this. I would have died laughing if my husband gave me something like this, esp if he were serious about it. |

Ugh, this would be my husband! For the first 5/6 years we were together I got bikinis, tacky lingerie and skanky Bedroom clothes as presents. Eventually I told him, please, not this year. He was a bit offended but he now gets me lovely things and saves that stuff for random times in the year. I know you're meant to appreciate any present but it was hurting my feelings that he didn't realise and lets face it, it was totally for him.
I still think you should wear it, have some fun 😃 but I how your bday gets better. Can you go and buy something for yourself? Did something nice?

Stuff like this does not thrill me and I would also be pissed. Mostly because we covered this topic early in our marriage. If he wants to buy ME a gift, it better be a gift for ME. I hate lingerie as it is a huge waste of money to me.

Don’t you just love when husbands buy gifts for themselves? My husband likes to buy me lingerie, and I don’t mind, but I HATE when he gifts it to me on my birthday or Christmas. That’s not a gift for me, dude. Maybe make him try it on and it will be funny? Happy birthday! I had to have that conversation with DH after our first married Christmas. He bought me a bunch of sexy underwear and I explained that was a gift for him, not me. He didn't do it again |
