I went to the auction last night. The one that charges a 10% buyers premium. I missed out on some stuff but I got some sweet deals as well.
- The first box lot I bought for $6. Inside the box: 9 pieces of Cornflower Blue Corning Ware casseroles of various sizes, 2 covers and 2 other cute bowls.
- The second box lot I bought because I spotted a turquoise piece of Pyrex with lid. That was enough to make me bid $3 for the box. I was willing to go higher but luckily I didn't have to. Also in the box was: reproduction penny candy jar with lid, green depression juicer, depression sherbet dish, clear Pyrex casserole dish, hand thrown pottery mug with original tag still on it, and other miscellaneous kitchen stuff.
- The next box lot I paid $2 for. It included: pretty etched glass pitcher, 2 new Scentsy refills, 2 vintage glass beer steins, set of blown glass goblets, set of crystal wine glasses, vintage Coke glass, other vintage dishware. Also included was a bag of Christmas stuff which included 2 vintage Hallmark Christmas pieces.
- The last lot was vintage linen dishtowels which are my favorite to use. A box full for $12.50.
That was it for the early bird portion. When the inside auction started I got:
- a big canning jar, the biggest size that you would put dill pickles in, filled with jewelry for $5. I'm looking forward to sorting through it.
- the last item, in the original box, vintage hostess set. The pattern is Libby Treasure Island, $5.
There were some excellent deals on furniture. If we had a bigger vehicle I may have ended up with more stuff.

I brought one of the kids to a Pokemon battle and while they were fighting I went to a nearby tag sale. They had 5 different Bucilla felt Christmas stocking kits and a tree skirt kit. When I asked how much they were the girl said $4 each. So while I was really looking them over (because while $4 each is a decent price what if I ended up bailing on them after the first kit) she said she'd make a deal if I got all of them. I said how much and she said $6 for all. Sold! There were also some Mod Podge papers, liquid gloss and jewelry findings. For $1 for the bag full, I have another new craft to try. Good luck to everyone out looking for bargains this weekend. If you are interested in selling the Bucilla felt Christmas stocking kits and a tree skirt kit I would love to buy them!!!

I went to an auction tonight and on the way home I realized that I never did finish telling you what else I didn't list from my box lot last week. It was a large vintage stuffed animal. It has a rubbery face. It's a rabbit. I think I may try to throw it in the washing machine. It's cute but the fur could use a little brightening and fluffing. It would be cute to display at Easter. I went to the same auction tonight. I got some box lots and other things that I'll tell you about tomorrow. Too many mosquitoes outside to look through the boxes. One of the ladies I've done volunteering with at school has a tag sale running right now. She started it on Thursday. I was excited because she is a big couponer and I was looking forward to buying some of the stuff I normally buy but at deep discounts. I was bummed that she didn't have any of the usual stuff we buy this time. I did console myself with other purchases to the tune of $19. I ended up with: - 3 pair of brand name gym shorts for my youngest in their school colors - Red Sox string bag - Westmoreland vintage dish - wire rack to hang inside cabinet to hold canned goods - 3 Vera Bradley purses Good luck to anyone heading out this weekend. Read up on washing that rabbit. I think that the face can not get soak

eastcoastpea I posted after reading your initial post. I had no idea they were such a hot commodity! My mom made stocking by hand that look very similar to the Bucilla kits. I have been collecting kits as I find them and use them as something to keep me busy on road trips! I've been working on this Ugly Sweater Set. So much fun!

If she's not selling hers, I've got a Bucilla stocking kit up for sale on eBay at a good price. PM me if you want more information. That ugly sweater set is really cute! I'm always in awe of anyone who can work with all those beads/sequins, as well as small items. I simply don't have the patience.

I go to a specific thrift store in my hometown. It was started by the brother of a friend who died in a car crash when we were in high school. The proceeds go to a charity in El Salvador for kids. I want to support it. They get really great things if you have time to pick through it.
I love vintage stuff like milk glass, blow molds and stuff for my jewelry making. I’m currently going to hit up the stores in my town because I need bags to bring our tail gate beverages to the OSU games. You cannot bring bags in the stadium anymore and we plan to walk there so no car to stow it in.

I ended up going to my usual auction last night even though I wasn't planning on it because I went to an auction Friday night. - I took a chance on some lighting from the new merchandise and it's even better than expected. I bought 3 and wish I had bought more. I bought them for the attic and garage but one of the kids already claimed one. This is what they are on Amazon: TW Lighting T5-LED 20 Watt -3000K 48" Fixture Set Price: $89.95 + $5 shipping I paid $11 each. Fingers crossed that he gets more and people haven't looked up the price and drive up the price at the auction. - No produce for sale last night. - I bought a box of the $2.89 Twix Bars. They ended up .50 cents a bar. Can you imagine kids freaking out at Halloween when they get one in their bag? - Lots of weird new food for sale. Auctioneer couldn't understand why people weren't interested in cucumbers in brine in a can. To try to get people interested he points out that it has a pull tab opening. Then he opens a can to show us what they look like. I was cracking up. He didn't sell many, lol. - Auctioneer ticked a lot of people off when he ignored a bid of mine. People had looks on their faces like what the heck? He kept adding to a tray lot. One lady shouted out that eastcoast pea placed a bid and people were nodding their heads and another lady spoke up as well. He said he wasn't done adding to the lot which everyone knew wasn't true. So, instead of paying $1 for the lot I ended up paying $3. One person bid against me with their $2 bid and people were looking at them like don't you screw her over like the auctioneer. I was amazed at how vocal people were about the situation. I wanted it for some new in the package, mini brass padlocks for luggage or display cases. I ended up with a bunch of stuff and some of it was supposedly valuable and the auctioneer said something to the effect of here's your gift for tonight, you're welcome. Like he did me a favor. Oh yeah, one of the things is an electric flea catcher and a replacement pad for it. You should have heard my conversation with my sister today. Hi, sis. I know your cats don't have fleas, but do you want an electric flea catcher and a replacement refill for it? She's taking it off my hands - it will be like carrying an umbrella, if you have it you won't need it. - I got another tray lot because I wanted a vintage, hand painted piece of Bavarian porcelain and a vintage tape dispenser. - I bought another lot which included teacups with matching saucers, a children's tea and chocolate set in the same pattern, and a set of matching salt and pepper shakers. Included with it were some new in the package Wade figurines, new in the package cereal premiums and new in the package, as well as loose, McDonald's Beanie Babies and a couple of other toys as well. $1 for the lot. One of the ladies has a doctor who is going to Haiti on a mission so she wanted to know if I wanted the toys. I ended up giving her a bunch of them. - I ended my night with my final purchase which was a table lot. The amount of stuff included was crazy: + 3 Betty Boop purses, a BB metal wall hanging, a framed BB picture, BB stickers, BB magnets and key chain (there is a girl I used to work with who collects the stuff). + 2 large glass platters, one of them is Depression Glass. + new with tags fushia purse + 4 pairs of shoes new in their boxes. One pair fits and I'm keeping them, white platform shoes. They'll be perfect if I dress up for Halloween. + beautiful and expensive looking wrought iron towel stand + vintage, electric sandwich press + handmixer + 8 place settings of silverware in a good brand + complete set of a different pattern of serving utensils + huge amount of mixed silverware and kitchen tools. Some are Farberware. + brand new stuffed animal that's hugging a throw blanket + framed, authorized photo of John Cena + new in the package Hallmark photo album + new in the package shower curtain I feel like I'm missing something else, but the entire table lot cost $2. So the BB stuff will go to the girl I know. I'll keep the platform shoes, the good set of silverware for one of the kids if they want it for when they move out and a couple of Farberware kitchen tools. All of the rest of it is good enough to go into my tag sale box. All of the kids were out with friends trying to squeeze that last bit of fun out of the Summer before school starts, so my husband and I went out to eat afterwards, a nice ending to the evening. Tell me how you spent your weekend.

teddyw, it's nice that the thrift store supports a cause you believe in. I'm a big fan of blow molds and collect just the smaller ones. In the past, I used to make a lot of jewelry. Tell me about the jewelry you make, please.

Tell me about the jewelry you make, please. I make metal jewelry-sterling, brass or copper. Mostly rings and necklaces. Kind of minimal, simple I have been taking enamel classes also for the past year so I’m adding that to my looks but i’m Still learning. It’s fun also. My dd’s are 18-28 so they and their friends request things. My 20yo finds things on Pinterest, sends the picture and then says can you make me this? I don’t do gold it’s too expensive. I do have a bit of my mom’s gold pieces that I want to melt down and mold into some sort of pendants for my sisters’ and I. I’ve never made a mold though. Dh has put a ban on anymore blow molds. I have too many.

I only went to one of my regular auctions this week. Picked up a lego table for my step-daughters son for $5. Also picked up another stack of 45's along with a box of some hodge podge stuff for $10, in addition to about 25 albums for $2. Was worth the visit.
Went to a local church tag sale Saturday, never went to one so big before for a church. Talk about organized, it was great stuff and great prices. Unfortunately only picked up a Stephen King book for my son for $1.50, a puzzle for SO for $1. Boo Hiss.

I'm sort of feeling overwhelmed by all the stuff I've bought over the past couple of years and not really having much desire to bargain shop lately

Our local BonTon closed yesterday. Earlier in the week I stopped in and bought brand new shirt folding boards for the kids for their hope chests for $1 each. One of the kids was really happy and explained to their friend who was with us how we're making these "boxes so I'll have tools that I need to make life easier when I'm an adult on my own." I also got a box of mascara wands from the Este Lauder counter for one of the kid's friends who wants to be a makeup artist. They were pretty happy with it and it was only $1.
I went back yesterday to see if they had any other deals that they didn't before. I bought 2 more folding boards for friends. For our house I bought an unopened case of trash bags for $10. I also bought one of those yellow, caution wet floor signs.
I stopped into Salvation Army and scored 2 pieces of Pyrex. The color is excellent on both of them.

Went to visit my dad so I got to visit my favorite thrift store. I needed an insulated grocery type bag to take to tailgates that I won’t mind if I lose it. Got a black one.
I also got a Pyrex dish to quench metal in after firing it. You can only do this in Pyrex. It’s just clear glass.
Also a pedestal milk glass bowl to put a succulent in. Spent $4
