I want to have someone invent a powerful circular saw that could be used to cut roots below the surface. My dream would be that it would be strong enough to run alongside a driveway, cut about 2 feet down be strong enough to cut tree roots running there. Then, I'd cut the tree roots coming over and sucking all the water out of my flower beds.
--got any dream inventions?

scroll down enough and those start to look like the swiss army knife of vehicles. I might want to drive one to work in the name of defensive driving (don't tail gate me or I'll rev up the saw blade!)

Its called a rock splitter. When they put in cable along the road when we lived way out in the country they used a rock splitter to dig the ditch for it. It looks like a chain saw, but the blade is different and used to dig a narrow ditch in the ground. As the name implies, it is strong enough to cut through rock.

Off to investigate rock splitter. I also mentioned on another board and got some names of a small trencher and one guy suggested a concrete saw.

I want something to automatically dig out my overgrown perennials so I can split them. I'm not strong enough to get them out of the ground. A giant scoop would work.

Continuing the landscaping theme, I'd like something that would dig up an old brick patio, then crack off all the old mortar so I can reuse the bricks for a different purpose. Also, something that will kill/remove monkey grass - at this point, I'm thinking I'm going to have to spring for dynamite...
