It seems Tescos are to sell water in cans.

I was unable to open the link but that sounds like a great idea. I no longer buy bottled water, I have 2 refillable bottles but it would be handy to buy a can of water if I didn’t have them with me.

Like you I don't buy bottles of water, last night for football training I filled three refillable bottles for DD and myself to survive the heat! If I need to get water while I'm out I will def look for these cans.

Great idea.I just hope people will be responsible with the can rings. They can be equally damaging to wildlife. I don't buy bottled water unless it's a dire emergency. I have been known to ask a restaurant/cafe to refill my girls bottles from the tap.I also ask for tap water if they want a drink when I'm having a coffee somewhere. A win both ways as they don't charge me for it They've always been happy to do so. I like this idea too until we get this plastic nightmare under control.

I’ve not looked at the link yet but anything that helps lessen our mountains of plastic has to be a good thing. A screw cap similar to those on fruit cartons would do away with the danger of ring pulls and allow us to carry open cans without spilling. I wonder if we will get them.

I can’t remember seeing one for years! You just pull up the tab and push it inside the can.

Better than plastic, definitely, but you can't reseal a can to finish later. I wish we could go back to the "olden days" when everyone drank water out of the tap. Here is my solution, hot or cold, and the brushed steel one is fully dishwasher safe: www.kambukka.com/en/west-loop?id=113

I've seen people pull them off completely.

I wish we could go back to the "olden days" when everyone drank water out of the tap I do, the water here tastes ok. Is that why people don't?

Www.canowater.com/I like the resealable option. Now if they only did that in plastic other than black plastic, the seal would be recyclable as well! gar & gillyp - yes our tap water tastes OK. But I've lived on 3 different continents in umpteen different regions plus holidays all over the world, and the only (safe) tap water I really couldn't drink was where it was badly desalinated sea water, and still salty. Oh and one time here at home when there was a burst water main and until they fixed it, the water was dark brown and smelled of stagnant pond. Maybe I'm just not fussy about flavour as long as the water is clean. The smoothest, freshest tap water I ever drank was in Norway. I remember it now!

anheiser busch sent canned water to the middle east during the first gulf war (and to many places afterward)
it tasted horrible
i mean it was water and we were thankful for it but - blech
i wasn't a fan and probably would not buy it if i saw it on the shelves
i'm not a water buyer anyway - i have well water and i take my water with me
