I finally succumbed and ordered myself a Minc. I've been intrigued by foiling but didn't think I would do enough of it to justify purchasing a Minc. But as a pre-service early childhood educator, I have been in need of a laminator at home for resources and realised that the Minc could do that for me!
For Minc owners and lovers... what basic supplies should I get now so that I can play around with foiling when it arrives?

missbellejane stock up on a few different colours of foil and some items like tags or papers to use them on. My Spotlight still has a pretty good selection of both Do you have a laser printer? If so you can print your own designs for foiling.

If you don’t have a laser printer get your hands on some reactive transfer gel and some stencils. You can also use reactive cs, like HS toner sheets which you can diecut either before or after foiling. Deco foil transfer gel
Heidi swap toner sheets

Gina K Designs has a lot of nice foilable things. She also sells the foil. If you want to make your own you might invest in a laser printer. It only has to be black & white. I have a canon that cost less than $50 but the wireless on it sucks. It's great when it's hooked up to the computer though.

Thanks, everyone. I've been looking at getting a b&w laser printer anyway, I do a lot of printing for my studies and inkjet gets a bit expensive if you're just printing documents. I've found a nice compact and cheap one but it only prints A4 so I need to figure out if I'd be able to tape smaller pieces of paper to an A4 sheet and have it feed through ok.
Foil-wise... will any brand work?

Thanks for sharing the toner paper 50offscrapper. I recently bought a laser printer so really should do more with that and my Minc!

Definitely a Black & White printer. Don't get a color laser printer. You will get spots. A monochrome printer will be black. Color will mix RGB to make black. Foiling won't be consistent.
I just jumped right into that and didn't mention I LOVE MY MINC!!!!! I am so nitpicky about my tools. Best tools I bought in a long time are my Fuse, Minc, ScannCut.
Don't go for craft foils. Heidi's foils are great in the crafting range. I don't know about Gina but I am sure they are great too. Do look for foils from foiling providers. I buy mine off Ebay, no particular seller. I also like nail foils like the kind you use for manicure art. They are fun to play with and very inexpensive.

Can anyone tell me if you can foil over existing foil in a different color? I have this card and want the gold to be silver. I will also say that I will be doing this using the regular laminator method as I do not have a Minc.

You can buy a toner pen amzn.to/2wWXEsf and color over the word. I haven't used the pen much, and it takes practice, but it might work. (Note: affiliate link)

I also bought some toner in a bottle ( powder) I mix it with some texture paste and put that through stencils as well. ( the toner I have is well expired so I picked it up super cheap)
The deco foil paste is good.
I quite like using a glue pen with it too.
