For anyone looking for a new machine - supposedly available in the autumn. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ny4-KNvc_YAMRSP is US$799 so I hate to think how much this'll retail for in New Zealand!

good grief! That's a lot of money!
I'm not even gonna look since I just got my ScanNCut a few months ago. Not that I could ever swing $800+tax, no matter what features it has.

The new features don’t seem to be nearly worth that price hike.
I love the one I just got, I don’t care that it is noisy, it gets the job done.

Yay!! There is about a snowball's chance in hell that I'll pay that for it, but hopefully it means some awesome Black Friday sales on the 2!!

Thanks for posting the link to the video, anniefb. When I heard there was a new model coming to market, I was afraid it would have amazing new features that I couldn't live without. I'm happy to say I'm good with my SnC2. And especially for the price difference.

I wonder if it will scan a true 12x12 to USB or if it will be limited to 11.75 x 11.75.
That's my scrapping unicorn right there! An at-home scanner that will do a true 12x12 !!! I want to digitize my thousands of paper pages!

I want to digitize my thousands of paper pages! You and me both. It can cut materials 3mm high, which is not a huge amount, but it may be more than what the current version has. That would be the maximum space for a page to go through. Would it scan well? Maybe. There are (or used to be) oversized scanners out there. Unfortunately, they are not only expensive, but the reviews for them were not exactly glowing, which is why I chose not to buy one. I would be hesitant to try scanning pages with my Scan N Cut 2. I keep hoping someone will produce a decent scanner for those of us who want to digitize our 12x12 pages. I'd want more head room than 3mm, though, even though most of my pages are not lumpy or thick. Maybe if enough people write to Brother, and suggest they come out with a 12x12 scanner for scrapbookers, they will consider doing it.

Belia I was thinking about the 350 for scanning my Mum's 12x12 pages but there was a discussion on another thread about how that might not actually be possible as the scan n cut will only safely scan completely flat pages.

I thought I heard that the Scan & Cut 2 could scan pages that had some dimension to them?!? The problem was the size. Although, you're right, I'm not a terribly bulky scrapper but all you have to do is add a button or two and the page is probably too thick for a roll-thru scanner. A true, affordable 12x12 flatbed scanner. Why is it so difficult? Whhhhhhhhy?

I think a lot of people would actually buy it, if it were available, because so many people used to scrapbook, and presumably want their pages digitized. There are still a decent number of scrapbookers, even though our numbers have dwindled.

I wanted this after watching Julie's FB live video, but that is way more than I would spend. I love my current Scan n cut, but I don't use it that much. I'm surprised it's priced so high but maybe it has some other fancy features or something she didn't mention.
