I like scrapbooking and I like going on cruises, but have never had an interest in participating in a scrapbooking cruise. To each their own right? That is me, too. If I am going to take a cruise, I intend to do all the fun things that I can't do otherwise. I can scrapbook at home with the photos from the cruise, later. I just can't see wasting a minute of a cruise scrapbooking when there would be so many other fun things to do and take photos of. I have never really been into the scrapbook celebs, either. The few people who had a style I adored were not celebs, just talented gals at the LSS. I watched a little of the video on the junk journal. The person making the video kept saying how cute it was, and I was just shaking my head in disbelief. There isn't any scrapbook celebrity anywhere that could persuade me to pay for a scrapbook cruise, retreat, or any other activity where they star. I really don't understand how some people can idolize them.

As someone who LOVES cruising as much as I love crafting, I would rather cruise and make the memories, then craft about it when I get home.

Tracie’s catch phrase “I’m not asking for money, but since EVERYONE keeps asking multiple times, here’s the link to my PayPal. But I’m not asking for money.”

I think I missed this story! Please share. SaveSaveAgreed. I am lost on this one. In a nutshell...a few years ago SJ had a class (I think big picture scrapping or something-a year long class) and some customers were complaining about it. So she compiled an email to her staff complaining about the complainers and said "so there" at the end, only the email went out to the unhappy customers instead. Oops.

To add some color to what @galew has above. It was Heidi Swapp's year long class. Heidi very clearly got bored and started phoning it in pretty quickly after the class began. Not surprising now in hindsight because while Heidi is hella creative, she has the attention span of a gnat. At the time, people were pissed due to the high price of the class vs the declining quality of the content. It was not as advertised. Stacy Julian did not care at all that people were upset and sent out her snide "so there" email by mistake. I was in the class and while I did enjoy it, it definitely did not live up to the hype or price.

Stacy's "so there" email story is still one of my very favourite scrap tales ever! I love it (for all the wrong reasons) with all my black heart. Talk about one's superiority complex outing them in the most delicious and undoubtable manner. Love. Love. Love. Eet. *snaps finger* *yaaaas*
Heidi's like a hyper poodle. She's creative and loves to craft but I never know where she's going next, how long this new line of "revolutionising" memory-keeping stuff is going to be around and how long I'll be provided with inspiration for it. There's always a new way to document your life with her brand.

It’s funny. I used to be a part of the Scrapgals fb group, but left when they started charging for their podcasts. I was disappointed but understood. And the only reason I left was because I just didn’t want to hear about guests I was missing out on like Paige Evans. I was worried I’d actually miss the group too but honestly this post is the first time I’ve thought of it since I left. I guess I have enough groups that fill the void I don't think you missed anything. One of the ladies on my other scrap message board did ONE month and was done. Too much snorting and they said quality was bad because Tiffany was calling from her car...
She expected content and quality to be higher if they are charging, not less.
Well that is good to know. And really I think people figured out that you could wait several months, sub for a month, binge the missed episodes and cancel. Unfair to the people who pay every month, but doesn’t sound like it’s worth the price.

chances I'm not sure if anyone actually answered your question about fraud, but to my knowledge (reading the other TC threads here like there hasn't been any talk of fraud in terms of the retreats or classes. Maybe a bit of bait & switch with the details, like calling the retreat that was in Lakewood a Seattle retreat, and if I remember correctly other retreats were also in pretty crappy places sort of adjacent to places you might want to go to. And I could've sworn that the schedule of the Seattle retreat was totally different in reality to what was talked about initially (but I was getting that all 2nd hand, so I'm not sure). But anyway, I don't think anyone has been cheated out of any money. I'm sure everyone will jump in with specifics if I'm wrong. Whether people thought they got good value for said money spent with TC is not something I can comment on. I don't have a good impression of her "teaching" "skills." But the people I know who went to her retreats seemed to have a pretty good time. I didn't know about the SJ "so there" story but as far as I know she's honest and reasonably good on follow through.

I could never imagine taking a cruise and then scrapbooking on it? Even with my favorite sb 'celebrity', which I really don't have one.. Maybe Tim Holtz, cause he is a cutie pie, Why why why would I want to scrapbook on a ship when there is SOOOO much else to do.. (well I have never been on a cruise ship so I would assume there is TONS of things to do..lol) and then haul all my crap on top of that? No way..

The "so there" combined with taking a very boring class from here at CKC in Mesa years ago made Stacy one of my least favorites.

I did a crafting class on a cruise and my husband laughed at me. It was in the same lounge as a games show, so we played that while I made my craft, and got drunk by 10 am. Lol the cruise provided the craft and it was flimsy flip flops but I had fun.

Some might say he’s the real talent in the family. If you value good music, you got a bonus when he played for the Scrap gals Retreat attendees.

Pacific / Hawaiian cruise and they were all really great. We made a kukui nut lei, an orchid lei, a ribbon lei and some other things I can’t remember (it was 16 years ago, after all). But I do remember they were fun and all of us enjoyed them. They only held the classes on the days we were at sea so it didn’t detract from any shore excursions and it was definitely more fun than gambling in the casino or sitting out by the pool.

I love to scrap book and I would love to go on a cruise, but I have never, ever wanted to do them at the same time even for a few minutes.
In fact, I think it would be quite awful, really.

Given I view cruises as claustrophobic floating prisons, IMHO adding "so there" & the donation whisperer would be pure torture!
