How do you organize yours?
21 people. 10 days in Orlando. 400+ photos. One album to be kept by me and copied for each of the kids’ families.
I have selected 100+ photos of various cousin groupings to be printed tomorrow. I plan to collage some of them for the album cover page and for our August calendar page. Not sure where to go from there?
Do I organize the album by date? By activities? By family interactions and groupings? By each person’s view of the experience?
oh, and my heart is still all warm and fuzzy after I asked my 6 year old dgs after 4 days at Disney World of all the characters he met down here who was his favourite, and he answered “You”. How do I scrap THAT???

My current Disney album organized by park.
For the Universal album, I put like with like and ended up with a few pages with Marvel themed everything or all miscellaneous ride photos. I made individual pages for photos I liked. The trip was for a (then) 14yo, so it was organized into two main sections: Harry Potter and everything else.
When you said "copied," what did you mean? Please say you're doing this digitally, or at least you'll be scanning your paper originals and making photo books for them. It's too much!

How do I scrap THAT??? That's so sweet! I think I'd write it down, just as you did here, and save it for the last page of the album.

No msliz , I will not be gluing together 5 identical scrapbooks! I will create one scrapbook. I will be working with the local photographer shop to compile it into a photo book for each family group. Some pages may be done online , but most will be scrapped by hand, then scanned in as a full page photo. These people have been copying my family calendar pages for years, and they said they would help with any pages compiled on line. She said I could sit right in the shop to do those pages. Their internet is faster than mine and they will walk me through the process and trouble shoot.

For your project I would make a digital scrapbook with Shutterfly and everyone can buy a copy if they want to. I also scrapbook my vacations mostly by the day, etc.

I will be scrapping our Disney Christmas family reunion vacation by day, but that is just my personal preference.
What a sweet response from your 6 year old dgs! I hope among those photos, you have one of the two of you together. It deserves its own page!

I would say that my past vacation albums were done in order by day but when I look back at them it really doesn't matter at all that I did them that way. I don't look at them and say "we went here on Tuesday" lol. I think doing them based on activity is a good way too.

I love scrapping Disney! You could scrap your pictures chronologically but you could also separate them into parks or have a section for food, characters, rides, entertainment, and moments. I’m so looking forward to scrapping our most recent trip, too!

I scrapped our family trip of 15 to DW in 2017. I ended up doing two 9x12 albums, but I had a large mixture of pocket pages and interactive scrapbook pages. I definitely went chronological, except when I did a few 3x4 pages of just the characters we met. I would still mention them specifically when I went chronological, but there were two or three pages of just the characters and little highlights for each one. Like Donald making my youngest daughter cry. We did DW + Universal and it just made sense for us. I don't copy my scrapbooks, but I did make a totally separate photobook that our family members ordered (I did too) and then they can add their own words, if they want. Best of luck! It's just another way to extend the magic for me when I get to document it after.

I organized my Disney album by day/park. It starts with our trip there and ends with the last day. I really like it.
Now if I was doing it for various families, I would scrap their photos kind of together and then when I copy the layouts, include specific layouts for specific people, not give everyone every layout. Know what I mean?

How do I scrap THAT??? I do our Disney trips by day. Usually a few two page spreads showcasing the highlights of each day. I will journal each family member's favorite thing (ride, activity, meal) from that day. I journal where we ate and what everyone ordered as well. I also try to include the weather. One year I bought a bunch of little sunshine die cuts and wrote the temperature for the day and included that on the first page for each day. I am usually only scrapbooking for 5, though. Our last trip I did a hybrid traditional and pocket page book. I made my own faux Disney kit using existing Disney collections (Say Cheese collections) as inspiration and shopping my stash. I was able to put together paper kits and embellishment kits, where I made my own, this way. I made my own Disney Project Life cards using the papers that were inspired by the Disney collections.

Because you want so many copies, I would do a digital photobook.
But, if I was going to scrap it physically, I would use photo pocket pages because I think that's the easiest way to include a lot of photos and it's flexible to rearrange things as you go until it makes the most sense. But I'm not sure if that would work well for making multiple copies.
I would organize by date, but I always like that organization for travel. I would put a "cover page" for each day with a large number for the day, a brief summary of what everyone did that day and a favorite photo from the day. Then within each day you could break it down by activity or family interactions depending on what makes sense for the day. I would also include photo grid pages in each day with lots of photos per page to include all the ones that didn't make the larger pages because you have so many photos that you want to use.

I'd probably do a digital scrapbook in this case as well. I have the same type of issue - although not with a Disney trip. In the end, I am an organized scrapper. I go day by day It just makes sense to me. Have fun creating!

Timely thread! I have our most recent Disney & Universal album to scrap from our extended family trip there 2 summers ago (25 people, multi-generational), so I'll be watching this thread for ideas. Our previous Disney trip (12+ years ago) is scrapped by park by day, with a few special pages for things like transportation among parks, resort area (Boardwalk), characters, etc. It's split into two albums, with Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios in one, Animal Kingdom and Epcot in the other. But that trip was only 5 people and it still took up 2 albums! Yikes, I'm a little daunted by the thought of organizing an album for a trip that included so many more people, plus Universal, plus we got the Photo Pass (even more photos! Oh joy!). It's really a great problem to have, but still...it's hard to know where to start (hence the "2 summers ago" part of my post, LOL).

Okay, now that I am actually working on my own Disney pages, I am still going mostly in date order, but I also realized that some things will require their own pages. For example, we did Disney Pin Trading, which was spread out over the time we were there. That will require a page layout of its own. I am also realizing here will be other activities that require their own pages, too, although those are still going to be mostly in date order, because it is easier for me, and I like to know what happened on what day.
Good luck, whatever you decide. I would love to know how your digitizing goes, and what it costs per page. That is something that I may want to do with my Disney album, too, because ours was a family reunion held at Disney. All five of our grown kids were there with us, and all the grandkids. Two of our kids will probably do their own digital photo books, but the other three of our kids would probably just want copies of what I do.

When I do the calendar pages each year, they copy and print them with a large laser copier @ $2 per page, but if I do the books with them, it will be quite a bit cheaper. If I understood her correctly it will be like a photo book, except we will use photos of my completed pages for many of the pages. That sounds expensive, but can you scrap a copy yourself for less than $2? And they will have a bound book. Will keep you posted.

How much fun!!! I get warm fuzzies just thinking about your big family trip!
I personally could not handle organization except by date. I did scrap by theme in 1 vacation album, and then quickly re-organized because it didn't flow right for me.
Then, I would be pulling out PL dividers for a lot of the pages and documentation, and choosing select photos and stories for their separate pages that could be put in wherever needed. HOWEVER, PL dividers don't photocopy/photograph!!! So that is most definitely a problem when you are reproducing the albums.
Which leads me to what has been suggested above: digi layouts for the non-special stories/pictures, print them out and put them in page protectors, with your own hand-work in between. You don't want to leave pictures out, and digi pages - you could organize like PL pages? - would be a much easier way to include everything.

I should check and see what the photography shops here can do.

I would do the book mostly by day, but I would add a section at the end for each person (or at least 1 page for each family and then 1 page for each grandkid) to highlight your favorite photos of them from the trip/your favorite memories/ask them to journal their favorite memories.
Maybe make up some journaling cards and ask the parents to have the kids fill them out and mail them back to you for the book? Stuff like favorite ride, meal, character, memory, etc. Make sure to include their ages at the time of the trip too.

I've done some Disney trips in chrono order (our early trips), but now we go so often that I've morphed to an album per park...and I also scrap special photos on different layouts, and put them in even another album... I try to do an itinerary LO for every trip. This is the format I use for the special photos: IMG_6535 by Penny{scraps}, on Flickr This is the format I use for the itinerary pages: IMG_6396 by Penny{scraps}, on Flickr This is an example of a LO that would go in my Magic Kingdom album: IMG_1707 by Penny{scraps}, on Flickr Some layouts I've done using pocket pages: IMG_8762 by Penny{scraps}, on Flickr And then sometimes I do a story based LO that features US. This might be the kind of LO you use to tell the "you're my favorite" story, which you definitely should!! IMG_3414 by Penny{scraps}, on Flickr I have spent most of this year scrapping WDW photos...it's been therapeutic for me - all the good feels - and a way I've been able to scrap outside the effects of processing my dad's unexpected death in January...I could talk about scrapping WDW for a long while. Sorry if I posted too many examples. But it's a topic near and dear to my heart...I head "HOME" for the 30th time on Saturday.

Thanks, pennyscraps, for all the inspiration! ((((Hugs)))) sorry to hear about your dad. I will get back to scrapping Florida soon. Plan to print more photos on Friday. So far, I have mainly done the character photos. Still have the rides and Typhoon Lagoon. And I want to do some pages with the iconic castle shots. Will also be doing some pages about the resort— especially the pool. And our anniversary supper.

I did our Disney trip organized by Park, and within each park by activity. There were also some random items that didn’t fit in any park and I put those as between park sections or within parks if I had a single empty page and nothing to go with it from that park. These random pages were things like like pin trading, meeting different characters, meals, snacks, wildlife we saw, transportation, etc. At the beginning of the book I had a “travelling to” page and at the end I had a “coming home from” page, and I also had a layout of the hotel/ resort we stayed at right after the “travelling to” page.
Initially I was thinking I would do the book by day, but once I started it, I realized by Park worked a lot better for me. I really like the flow of my album.
