I just wanted to add my experience about the Scrapbook Expo in Edison. I always appreciate seeing everyone else's accounts/info, so wanted to share.
I have been sort of bored with the scrapbook community as a whole, overall lately. Even all the "it" scrap celebs, blah. I just can't.
But going to the Expo was so fun! Reigniting being around other creatives. Everyone I chatted with was so nice. So just want to say thanks if any of them were Peas!
This was the first year I didn't take any classes. I did the Thursday Make & Take crop, which I really enjoyed the projects. Some more than others. But overall it is a great place to start. Then Friday I just shopped and cropped. The crop was great and I def took too much (as always!) but I was really happy with the few layouts I worked on and did complete.
Because I had more time for the show floor, I did a few make & takes at booths and was impressed with some of the products out there now. There are some great, high quality things from lesser known brands I feel. Given a lot appeals more to cardmaking with stamping and dies, but still anything that sparks creativity is good!
I thought I would really stick to my short list of wants: some Halloween paper/lines (I got the new Simple Stories Vintage Halloween!), Nuvo drops (new to me as well - got about 10 bottles) and Diamond Dotz by Kreative Kreations. Wow - these are so fun and tho I'm not big on the finished product (sort of like puzzles) I really enjoyed working on the sample at the Make & take crop. I ended up purchasing a halloween design that I thought would be fun for decor. And some for gifts.
But I ended up getting a little more (those make and takes are really a good idea, bcz once you try it, you want it!) Really enjoyed working with the double sided tape and glitter from Elizabeth Crafts Design. She has cute dies too. And the Circlet Mini Tryfolds dies from Art Impressions were fun and can make a really cute card, fairly easy.
I def went for a dies and things that seem a bit more challenging, maybe to shake it up a bit.
Also Photo Play Paper was there the first time this year and they had some great deals, and I really love their designs. A little something for every occasion.
It was a great event and can't wait for next year!

I'm glad you had fun!

I have gone to Scrapbook Expo most years, when I can, and I always love it! I usually just go to shop, but since I have no LSS close anymore, it is fun to go and see what is out there.

There’s one not too far from me at the beginning of September. If I wasn’t going away for a long scrapping weekend in November I’d definitely go to shop. Thanks for your review!

I have big plans this year for the Denver Expo. I signed up for Thursday night and Friday and Saturday crops. Also, taking three classes. I am hoping to use my crop time to complete make n take and class projects. Thanks for your review, it is always good to hear from someone who had been.

I went to Edison last year and it was great. The date didn't work for us this year, so we are going to Marlborough MA on the 8th of September

I'm glad you had a good time.
I went to two Expos this year after not having gone for several years. It's inspiring to be around like minded people and the buzz of excitement is catching.

Glad you had a great time! This year was our third year attending the Orlando one. Three years ago I wasn’t really scrapbooking like I used to, attending sparked my creativity and my want to scrapbook again! It also got our group together again after almost 8 years! I keep forgetting to sit and do the make-n-takes! Need to do that and make a list of things I want to grab Always next year!

Hi I went also on Friday to the Edison, NJ expo. Hope you don’t mind my piggy back to your review. Honestly I like CKC Lancaster much better.
There are so few conventions/ expos/ no LSS, I’ll go to all of them that are close enough !
I shopped the vendors and was able to cover that in 90 minutes. A lot of the same and only Nicole Petersen booth had new items. I took 2 classes. They were both good. 1 - 20 pages in 60 minutes (Ato Z scrapbooking). It was all pocket pages and one full size 12x12. It was okay and used a 2015 Simple stories summer collection pack. So older product. It was supposed to be a “Bloom and Grow” theme, which to me implies gardening. I should have known better because the last time I took a class from A TO Z they also did this, changed the theme and papers. (Last time a few years ago was supposed to be Authenique papers and they switched it out for simple stories which is totally different. That time I complained and got the cost of the class money back). This one was fine, although I was expecting the garden theme which I would have liked better. I will use the pocket pages and layout since they are summer generic. I won a 4x6 photo overlay pack. 2 - mixed media layouts with Art Anthology - class was good and we got to play with paints, sprays, and texture paste. One item was a frame that is way too thick for a layout, more than 3/4 inch thick. So that will not make it into the layout. It was fun though and I will use the 2 layouts. I won a bottle of green paint.

Aaaarrrgh! How did I miss this?? I could have gone!!! *sigh* I used to go regularly, but I haven't been for awhile, because it's coincided with our family vacation. We vacationed earlier this summer, but the Expo was off my radar.

I was there on Friday. I thought it was very good this year. I was surprised at how many more vendors there were this year compared to previous years. It's still not as big as when I first started going (I think it was back in 2004). Since some big companies and "celebrities" were there, I'm hoping there is an upswing in years to come. Although I thought the make 'n takes were kind of expensive for what they were making, and I didn't do any, I had a good time shopping. Prices were a little high, but I expected that, and some of the vendors had good show specials. We should plan to meet next time.

Was this in NJ? I've never been to a Scrapbook Expo and it sounds like fun! I'm glad you had fun! Yes NJ, right off exit 10 on the turnpike, very easy area to navigate. I won a bottle of green paint. I only tried Lancaster once (used to go when it was in Valley Forge), and while I liked it, this is just much closer and I like the long crops (they are 8am-11pm). The cool thing is you get in there for 8 am while everyone else is lining up for shopping. This year they had a separate entrance for croppers to enter the show floor so no need to stand outside in a hot line. So I get all my crop stuff set up then go shop for a couple hours. I go back to crop, eat lunch, do a page or two, then I go back to shop around 3 or 4 to see anything I missed or pick up anything specific for a project. As far as classes - I feel like I've taken so many and from the same teachers, it sorta becomes repetitive. I would've liked to take the classes with Ken Oliver, but they were kinda pricey. Aaaarrrgh! How did I miss this?? I could have gone!!! *sigh* I used to go regularly, but I haven't been for awhile, because it's coincided with our family vacation. We vacationed earlier this summer, but the Expo was off my radar. There were a lot of New Yorkers there, mostly everyone I talked to! (assuming from ur avatar!) I was there on Friday. I only did the free make and takes bcz yea I agree. I did get to chat with and watch Gina K which was cool and of course ended up with a wreath builder kit. I figure I could make it, but honestly sometimes it's just easier to get it.
