I mentioned in the other thread that I still have bundt pans that I own, but never use. I should just get rid of them along with the Tupperware Jello mold that I've NEVER used. For some reason, I can't get rid of these things, at least not yet. Same with my wedding China. I haven't used them in years. What are some things that you own and should get rid of but can't?

All the Tupperware! I don’t even use them.
If we are talking about non-kitchen stuff, all the stuff I am storing in the guest room - fabric and scrapbook stuff that I haven’t touched in years. The fabric is so pretty, same with the scrapbook paper, and I should donate them so someone else can enjoy it, but I can’t, yet.

Everything. We have so much stuff that needs to go and I know it, but hate to throw things out. DH wants to rent a giant dumpster container and chunk all of it! Probably my worst stash is old clothes and décor. Oh - and I have an entire closet of the boys old Halloween costumes. They come in handy every once in a while and at this point, I could just keep them for grandchildren!

I'm not really a keeper but I do still have Charlie Brown my childhood teddy. He's a bit worn but he's staying! Not my picture but this is him...

I have some chairs that go to my grandma's drop leaf table. I'm never going to use the chairs.
I should also get rid of all the clothes that will fit me if I lose 20 pounds.

I have quite the collection...but I do use it! newest dd is 5 months and for her monthly growth photos, I am sewing a new dress. And thankfully my 7-year-old dd loves matching with her. So I am going through fabric more quickly these days! I need to purge a lot of scrapbook stuff. It has been in boxes in the garage since we moved in December. I have picked sewing as the thing that i am going to spend my time doing. But I know there is a ton in there that my kids would love to craft with. I have a hard time letting go of clothes, ones that no longer fit and now my kid's stuff as they outgrow. I have a ton boxed up for my sister to go through and whatever she doesn't want to keep for her future kids I am going to donate. I also need to do a big purge of kids toys...we have way too many!

lainey - love the teddy! Never get rid of him. Says the 61 year old woman who still collects stuffed animals (albeit pricey ones). I've gotten so much better at getting rid of things, but there is so much room for improvement. The 4 bentwood Windsor chairs in the rafters of the garage that match my drop leaf table, still so much fabric to get rid of, old clothes from the 70's and 80's (though I did finally donate all my high school prom gowns last year), old costume jewelry I'll never wear again. The list could go on and on. This is why I am a frequent poster on the annual decluttering thread. Decluttering & Purging...the new hobby of Baby Boomers everywhere!

I once made a big batch of meatballs for my dad to take to a work potluck. He left me a note on a piece of scratch paper that said they were a huge hit and gone before noon. I can’t bring myself to throw it away, I keep it taped inside my pantry.

We are in the middle of a great house purge and I refuse to get rid of some drawings my mom did for a talk to gave in Sunday School when I was five. The drawings are from a book called "If Jesus Came to My House" and they are bent and worn so really of no use...but I refuse to throw them away.

an old sweatshirt from Mizzou (college in Missouri) that my sister went to in the late 80s.. She bought me the sweatshirt and I then proceeded to wear it for the next 30 years. I literally wore it up to about 2 years ago. The sleeves and neck are almost threads... but it fit soooooo good.. it was oversized and looked cute with stirrup pants.. HAHAHAHA, then with jeans, then with yoga pants.. HA... It just now looks more than worn out, it's crossed the line to a homeless look.

I am going through my parent's house and trying to find homes for so much of this stuff. My dad just wants it gone. He said to give, sell, or trash he doesn't care, just wants it gone.
I am posting some things on the family Facebook group page so my neices and nephews can claim things they want or need. Giving some things to people I know can use it and have taken bags and boxes to the women's shelter thrift store.
Some things are hard to find homes for. I have a large rubbermaid box of cross stitch fabric and kits. Hard to sell, nobody seems to do that craft much any more and no way for me to use it all in three lifetimes. I RAKed a gift bag full to a lady that works at the car repair place because I saw some of her work hanging in the waiting room.
As for me, personally I hang on to too much fabric. I added my mom's stash to my own. I will never use it all, but I always want more, LOL.

I have a lot of my late Dads regimental things and more photos than I could ever scrapbook in my lifetime. Also a loft filled with my parents collections of things that even after all these years break my heart to even think of parting with. I have no trouble getting rid of my own stuff thankfully or I would be on a hoarders programme for sure. The only exception is my teddy I have had since I was 6 months old and went to the hospital every time with me as a child.

I have a large rubbermaid box of cross stitch fabric and kits. Hard to sell, nobody seems to do that craft much any more and no way for me to use it all in three lifetimes. Some of the kits sell well, depending on who they are by. There are still enough people who cross stitch (my sister is one) that it sells well at my thrift store as well. I would donate it to a local thrift store that you like to support. I once made a big batch of meatballs for my dad to take to a work potluck. He left me a note on a piece of scratch paper that said they were a huge hit and gone before noon. I can’t bring myself to throw it away, I keep it taped inside my pantry. Now I don't feel so silly for keeping the little note page dad gave me (dad always carried one of those really small ones in his front pocket) with all the specs on his old hunting rifle. He wanted me to sell it and knew I'd never remember what the heck it was. Even though the rifle has been sold, I'm still hanging on to that paper 10 years later.

One very old leather baby shoe that my mom said was my grandpa’s, and a vintage sugar bowl that’s missing the lid that was my grandma’s.
Also a closet full of my DD’s outgrown clothes that I haven’t had a chance to sell yet. They really, really need to go.

I'm getting better at releasing the "things" and keeping the memories instead. I had my mom's last voice mail until somehow it "disappeared" when my phone crashed and did not come back with the others. That I kinda miss. Nothing special, just a general sorry-I-missed-you-talk-to-you-later message but still wish I still had it.

I have just decluttered two closets of stuff I haven’t been able to part with in years. Old Bedding, curtains, pillows. But there is a white sheet set with pretty eyelet edges I can’t get rid of. It was my mom’s and I just think of her when I see it. It’s for a twin bed and we don’t have any twin beds so I can’t even use it.
There’s also two big quilts that were hers taking up space still. She didn’t make them so I don’t know why I keep them. They are pretty, but I will never use them.
I really need to get rid of them. Sigh.

My daughters rainbow loom supplies. I have no idea why, they are boxed up under the spare bed. She made so many amazing things with those.

an old sweatshirt from Mizzou (college in Missouri) that my sister went to in the late 80s.. That reminds me..... I still have the t-shirt I bought when I went to Hawaii with a couple of girlfriends in 1989:
It's still in very good nick. And while I was looking for that t-shirt I found this little ripper from the first concert I went to in 1983: Even though it's got holes in it I cannot bear to throw it out. It's a reminder of one of the greatest nights of my life. I think I'll ask to be buried/cremated in it.

When my granddaughter was 4, she colored some pictures for me for Christmas. All on her own, she grabbed some pink Christmas paper and wrapped the pictures, using duct tape. She's 14 now and I can't part with that sweet duct taped package.

Half of the contents of my house I should get rid of. Right off the bat I think of things from my childhood that I can't part with because I have only a few photos of the bulk of my preteen years and the stuff reminds me of it - even this ridiculous cloth dog with autographs all over it from 6th grade.
My doll collection that was started for me as a baby. Some of those dolls are so beat up they can't even be displayed, so they're in a box someplace. I have a granddaughter on the way and I thought I might get them out and show them to her at some point.
There is always a reason to keep something that needs to go, but I'm not motivated to get rid of it yet.
