msliz , I love the background paper on your Power Tools page. Looks like wood grain which just fits. Great job with the rounded end strips of "branches" paper. Cute title signs. This all works together perfectly. Oh, my, those wedding pages are gorgeous. I love the white die cuts. Did you cut them? and would you share where you got the file? Simply amazing pages. The gray striped paper is SEI from maybe 2012 ? I was glad to find it in my stash. I think the lacy floral die came from a Hobby Lobby clearance sale earlier this year, but I don't know who made it. I usually get rid of the packaging right away. I finished up a couple more tonight that I'll try to photograph tomorrow if it's not too cloudy, and I started another one. These sketches are giving me a good kick in the butt!

KelleeM - perfect pp choices, I bet you spent ages getting those right, and the the correct order etc. nylene - "life is" gorgeous - love the border and the colours and everything! Especially that smiley photo - I think "fresh" is great! The oranges are so much fun all by themselves! myboysnme - love your colour choices to really pull outfits and mood from your photos, and all your gorgeous matting. msliz - That power tools layout is great! I love that background and the fall paper strips are perfect with it! I really like the background you chose for the wedding LO and the white ribbon and flowers set of the pictures so well! KelleeM - I really like both of these layouts and what you are doing with the sketches. Love the colors for both, the bright orange with the strips say FUN! And the bird house creator - love those papers! nylene - Your sketch 8 LO is fab as kiwigirl would say! I love everything about it. The quote, the colors, the touches in the corners. And I really like the Fresh one as well! So clean! Love the colors! myboysnme - I'm loving your stories and your wedding was beautiful and so cool! I'm really liking the papers you chose, they are perfect for the pictures! Some of the older stash I'm seeing really has me regretting the big purge I did last year. linda - I recognized those club scrap stickers and instantly regretted purging all the kits I had hung onto for so long lol.

I logged on and you are all giving me so much inspiration to stay in my craft room! kitbop I just love the use of the doilies on the sketch. I used to have a few of those as well and agree that it would be nice to get more. I heard there is a small doily die but I think it might be difficult to get all of the tiny pieces out of it. Not sure if anyone here has used it? msliz I just love that silver (? I think) patterned paper on the wedding layouts. I know gold is all the rage in the scrapbook world but I do love some silver. KelleeM. You have been busy! I like the way you have several double page spreads. I bet it looks great in the album. Also, with these pages of the house purchase I feel like I am there with you. nylene I just love the way your photos match the background and the use of 3 photos! myboysnme Great work on the re-do of the wedding album. Looks like you have also been busy. What type of scrapbook did you have them in before?

Thus far this weekend I have completed four 12x12 layouts and 1 week in Project Life. I may still finish one more layout but I realized I need to do some organization and purging of old photos (when I have 2 of each, for example and only want to use 1). Thanks to everyone for sharing their layouts as it has inspired me to get to the craft room. Also, I LOVE the challenge thus far. I haven't completed this many projects/layouts in more than a year (other than PL which I stay up to date with). Hope you all had a good weekend whether you were crafty or not. I am using these liquitex metallic paints for my gold and had to buy the pack of 6 metallics. I thought, why not? and have been adding silver to some layouts as well. IMG_1037 by Catrina Smith, on Flickr I have had this photo not for 19 years...I do not scrap chronologically for 12x12. I do for PL but for 12x12 I normally just find a photo that catches my fancy and go for it. IMG_1040 by Catrina Smith, on Flickr I was trying to use only 3 colors in this layout. When I took this photo I used some sort of filter that made it match the papers well. IMG_1039 by Catrina Smith, on Flickr I used up the last papers (except for a couple of lonely 6x6 pieces) of the Shine collection. I only had a few bits of it (some papers, the 6x12 sticker sheet, and some gold stickers). I managed to use it and added the leftover embellishments into my stash. KelleeM - Cuddles is such a sweet layout - lov how you used all those different patterns on the banners yet it's still cohesive. The New home layout is lovely too - that house border is perfect! catseatcheese - you've been busy. Great layering on that first layout! Awesome prom page - I love seeing the older photo! I love the soft colours and the doilies on the lighthouse page. The journalling border is awesome on the grid page! JaneB - another WOW layout from you - I love sunflowers and the monochromatic layout lets them shine!

ten Hallowe'en cards using my fall kit - nothing fancy but hopefully the recipients will like them. The pumpkin sticker on the bottom one looks better in real life - the flash washed it out. And don't mind my kitchen table - it badly needs refinishing but while I still have kids at home...it's not worth it.

What type of scrapbook did you have them in before? I still have them in a K&Co lilac album. I am reusing most of the papers I had originally used but trying to get it much more cohesive. It is a big project because the album is already about 3 inches thick so I can't really add additional pages. I have to cram more photos than I would like to but make it easier to look at - better flow I guess. Before I didn't like showing people and my DH wanted to show it to someone and I just put off getting it out. I had hoped to incorporate more wedding memorabilia but there isn't the room I need to add it in very often.

Catching up on commenting (finally) and keeping it chronological. PAGE 1:
Chinagirl828 Oh, this brings up so many memories! I was a young teen in the late 1990s and listened to some Smashing Pumpkins too (probably Mellon Collie more but only because I was just a kid with no knowledge of anything that was "in" when Siamese Dream came out). I love the dynamics of your page. It's simple but also very effective. The text to the left helps to emphasise the escape that music (sound "waves") represents from the daily (at least for our left-to-right reading system). The muted colours are right down my alley as well! I wish I'd made this layout for one of my favourite teen years albums.
grammadee I'm getting such Peter Pan vibes from your layout (and I love Peter Pan ). The sleepy kids, the soft colours, the Disney castle die-cut, "Slumberland" like Neverland. Very cute and dreamy! Your grandkids are lucky you're documenting all these sweet moments. I have a few photos of me sleeping with my godmother's kiddo after a birthday party and they're some of my favourite from my childhood album.
KelleeM She *is* cute as a bug! The light pink and dark navy contrast works so well. Congrats on making that bold choice! I love the inclusion of some gingham ribbon (ribbon is underrated these days). The wood critters are absolutely adorable. It's an "awww"-inducing project.
crystalb Love how you looked at the first Sketchtember challenge differently and moved the shapes around. Yellow and grey always compliment each other so beautifully but I admire your inclusion of the softer sunset shades. That would probably not have come to me naturally. It works really well! The belly rub photos are so cute, too.
JaneB Great extraction of colours from the photos. Simple but so very effective. I've got to laugh at all your puns (and sometimes silly hubby photos)! Clean and to the point. Me gusta.
Linda ("Follow your dreams") It's the everyday photos and moments that mean the most when you grow up so I really appreciate your photo choice for the layout. Scrapbooking doesn't have to be complicated to be pretty. Well done!
Linda ("Big Bend Farm") I really like how the soft orange both compliments some elements in the photos (animal furs) and contrasts others (the greening wood fences). It's such a pleasant and smooth effect on the eyes. You get double thumbs up for all the gingham popping up throughout the layout!
Linda ("Gator") The repetition of the green in the T-shirt by picking cardstock that's a hue lighter is smart. It grounds the photos well. But you couldn't pay me to get near to gators... I'm from a dry climate. We don't do alligators around here. I don't trust them... *slowly backs away*
MDscrapaholic Navy and green are always such pretty colours together. I love how you turned the dotted paper into vertical lines. What a fun twist on the use of shapes! The big number 7 framing your kiddo's (I'm assuming) photo is a great idea.
Linda ("Wild Life") Dayum girl, you on fire! I'm all for muted tones so this autumn-y layout is making my eyes very happy right now. I'm really enjoying the block transitions. Very Lego-like. What's the animal in the bottom left photo? Doesn't look like anything I can identify and I'm curious now!
LisaDV A fellow stitcher, yay! I love how you created those stitched outlines. It's such an airy and light effect! Great repetition and movement of colours throughout the core of the LO. It's a very interesting project to look at: the more you stare, the more shapes you notice, especially when you pay attention to the intersections of the main elements! Beautifully executed, too.
woodysbetty What a work of colour extraction from the photo. Great eye for making the most from what was in the picture. The white elements bite through and give some pause for the eye which is such a smart choice. Love the stripe play (vertical, horizontal and diagonal) as well. I can see a lot of care and thought went into this!

I'm from a dry climate. We don't do alligators around here. I don't trust them... *slowly backs away* You didn't see ME in the pictures, did you? I was keeping a safe distance away while taking photos. Thanks for all the sweet comments sleepingbooty

PAGE 2:
LisaDV This layout is just a little piece of art! I can appreciate all the work that's gone into playing up the diagonals and how it's an hommage to your husband's gravity-defying hair. Very beautiful and a great example of embellishing managing to be very present without feeling overly busy. I also appreciate all the stars strewn across the page. So well done, congrats!
justlisa7 What a sweet picture! This is simplicity and subtlety at its best. I really love it (and have a very soft spot for the floral ephemera pack from that Maggie Holmes line ).
Linda Well, you may have struggled with sketch #2 but it definitely doesn't show. What a great idea for a grid page! I can't be the only one who thinks this is genius? That little Lego reference with the enamel dots at the top is so cute... Great balance for the white vs primary colours (primary hues are my WTF-do-I-do-with-these when I scrap) as well.
catseatcheese ("An adorable hello") Such a sweet page! I'm loving all those soft tones to scrap that tender moment. I'm partial to some gold splatter and gold glitter hearts so you've got me completely on board here... The multi-matting works beautifully.
catseatcheese ("May 6 2011") That is a gorgeous portrait and the project really helps it shine. I think your framing with floral clusters is beautifully executed and does the picture justice. Soft pinks, greens and grey? Yes, please. Keeping the title simple (and tucking it slightly under the matted photo) was a great move for this layout as well.
catseatcheese ("A kiss to remember") I'm a big lover of white space and you've done white space so well here. The eye travels well around this LO. Great movement overall! Hella cute gold splatters and gold accents (mmm, that gold marble paper). The black touches really help ground the photo into the page. I. dig. it.
catseatcheese ("Home") You had me at domesticated rodent photo. Oh my, I had a hamster as a kid and have such fond memories of walking him around the garden in my doll stroller. The soft colours really let your little fella shine. Those wood veneer hearts are fun (did you stamp the image on them yourself?).
catseatcheese ("Cherished") Erm, somebody is putting everyone to shame! So many LOs already... I'm impressed. That background paper is really nice and a great choice for this page. I really like how you've let the pattern papers take over the upper middle portion of the layout. Layering can quickly become overpowering but you've managed to keep it feeling airy. It gives a very festive and fairground-like feel to the project. I'm enjoying how you've used the blue tones from the background in the photo as a grounding element through the layout. Well done!
KelleeM ("The beach is calling") Such pretty pictures and such a nice take on the grid challenge. The project itself is an invitation to the seaside... The shaker pocket is a fun addition that reminds me of the glistening waves as the sun sets so congratulations on taking the theme all the way. I want to go to the nearby beach myself now.
KelleeM ("We really needed windows") Great three-picture evolution LO! I love the super soft colours you're using here. They give these home reno memories such a dreamy feel (and I guess that's appropriate since this looks like a dream project). I love the alpha choice for the title as well. Are those lowercase letters kraft paper?
I'll continue tomorrow. It's too late and I'm falling asleep! But beautiful work so far, ladies. So much creativity.

KelleeM - fabulous "cuddles" take on the sketch - love the pink, you really made her eyes pop out of that photo at us by using the sketch. And "tranquil" is just that, but love the bit of texture you added. linda - fabulous halloween cards and layout. I love the colours and season, but I seem really hung-up about scrapping it, it's my worst holiday by far even tho I love the products! JaneB - so stunning, LOVE the yellow coming at us like that. catseatcheese - incredible LOs, each and every one. "Love you" - layers and the taupe/pink, and all the pattern textures make it really interesting yet the picture is still the highlight. "prom" has great angles and shapes everywhere. "love to travel" - really love this one - the colours, the scattered embellies, and the doilies. And the grid layout colours are so complementary to your photo, love how you used chipboard so cleanly without cluttering.

I'm not posting my Sketchtember layouts on this thread but I am posting them on the Sketchtember thread that they go on. I hope that's not a problem that I don't post them here.
I'm loving everyone's work but can't find time to comment on each one. There are so many and they are all spectacular! Please know that I'm oohing and aahing over them and clicking on the "like" button. I am in awe of all the talent we have on this board and am so happy that we're all scrapping and capturing our memories while enjoying our craft.
Time to close the door on my craft room until next weekend, unless I find some time after work one night this week. Don't have too much fun without me!
