I bought a beautiful children's pop up bible story book at goodwill. I didn't look carefully at it, and when I got home, I discovered most the pages were torn. Yesterday, I made a birthday card out of the 1st page. It is crazy, but fun. I might make some more from the rest of the book. What a great idea to salvage a damaged book! I hope you share a photo of it.

On one shopping trip, I found 7 Eileen Fisher sweaters at my GW! Also found a vintage Fiestaware round pitcher. A pair of Italian sandals for $3.50 that eBay has for $65

I bought a metal deco piece. I am seeing more of the stuff in the thrift stores so the fad must be over.
I will repaint it. I am thinking light purple with snow flakes for winter.

Went to an auction last week with my son, who kept me from going for all the great deals I could have had, lol.
I did end up with four HUGE boxes of vinyls for a whopping price of $5. Great assortment from Scotish folk songs, to kids music, movie soundtracks, Dean Martin, John Denver, Barbara Streisand, etc. Even if I sold them for $1 each I'll make a ton of money. I only counted one of the boxes so being on the low side and times it by 4, I got over 200 vinyls. Crazy right. Whats that make them like 2 cents each.
I also picked up 5 chairs for $1. Three were an almost set which I've already painted for garden chairs in nice bright colors. I can easily sell them for $20 or $25 for the set. As much as my kids hate me bringing home more "crap" they totally understand why I do when they see the huge profit I can make on something so simple.

I found a big stack of old maps for $2.. pretty sure they are all National Geographic ones from the early 70s. In the past I have seen some ideas using maps.. so when I have the time I will see what I can find.
I also found a record from 1950 just for the cover.. I can't remember who the record was by but the cover is so pretty I want to frame it.. It's called April in Paris and it is pink and green. It's adorable.

I love that! So unique and sure to be very special. It's a great way to reuse something, rather than have it end up in the trash or recycling. Hope that it is a happy birthday for them.

It's funny flute4peace, I was just thinking, Why haven't we seen an outfit lately? If I had your skills to make a vest like that I'd be posting it in multiple places too! Very nice.

Well they took a break from the daily outfit threads so I did, too. I’ll have to get myself back on the horse (And the vest was super easy - really - but thank you for the compliment!)

Hooray, 2 rain free back-to-back days forecasted for Saturday and Sunday. I'm going to attempt a tag sale at my house with my sister. Fingers crossed that it goes well and I have some good stories to tell along with big bucks.
Vertigo symptoms still happening so I'm hoping it doesn't cause me too much trouble while the tag sale is happening.
Good luck to anyone heading out this weekend.

eastcoastpea - Good luck with your tag sale this weekend! Also hope that you are over the vertigo soon. I stopped by the thrift store yesterday to drop off 2 more bags of books (college text books and cookbooks this time). There was a line to drop off, so I parked and went in for a few minutes. Nothing really caught my eye, other than the high prices. I keep waiting on them to come back to reality on pricing, but not likely to happen soon. Did find 3 new rolls of a cute Mary Engelbreit gift wrap paper for just 25¢ each. It's the yellow paper with scottie dogs and cherries. Will be nice for birthday gifts. I also found a cute set of cupcake liners and toppers by Meri Meri called Space Cadets for just $2. That will be going in the next package I send to my great nephew. He's almost 6 and I think he'll enjoy them when they make cupcakes at home. I also picked up a Lego Advent Calendar for him at Costco yesterday. His birthday is just after Christmas so I like to send things at different times of the year. It is supposed to storm all weekend here so I won't be hitting any sales or thrift stores. Planning to do more listing on eBay and a little sewing instead. Happy thrift & bargain hunting everyone!

Well it's 2:15 a.m. and I'm still wide awake and I'm supposed to be getting up at 6 to start setting up day two of the tag sale. I'm sure it's because my feet are killing me. I'm going to have my sister man the check out because I'm sure I'm going to be exhausted and I don't want to make any money mistakes.
Day 1 went well. Business was slow to start but once it picked up it was consistent for the rest of the day. Lots of familiar faces, some of these people have come to every tag sale I've had at my house. Some of them I definitely call friends. Like last time, some people shopped more than once. It's pretty neat when people come back 2 or 3 times for the same tag sale.
I've still got about 30 boxes of stuff in the garage that didn't even get put out. I had 13 tables of my own to use and borrowed 2 from my sister. I even broke my cardinal rule of not putting stuff on the ground, I used 6 plastic table clothes on the ground as well.
Yikes, I've got to go. 3 fire engines just pulled up across the street and a fire chief's car. Time to be a concerned and nosy neighbor.

eastcoastpea I hope all is good with your neighbor that had the emergency vehicles. Maybe that's why you had awaken - to be prepared to help if needed. I finally was able to visit some garage sales (as they are called around here) and the only thing I purchased was several pieces of Tupperware (set of 4 square nesting containers, 4 divided lunch containers) all pretty new looking, for $6. The rest of the sales just didn't have anything too interesting. Lots of home décor that had seen its heyday many moons ago.

Yard sales are definitely winding down here. Of course the thrift stores still suck, BUT I went to the Echo Park warehouse sale on Friday.
I got quite a bit for $57.00. Four collection packs, four sets of sheet protectors, two sticker sheets, five small paper pads, two sets of stamps, and a pack of journaling cards. I think that's everything. Since my husband went to a pricey concert recently, I told him he owed me.

I just came in from outside. I'm sore and exhausted. I'll fill you all in on the details tomorrow - I just didn't want to leave you all hanging on the neighbor situation clarencelynn. Thank goodness no fire or death. Folks with oxygen and a faulty alarm system. What a relief to find that out. I'm sure there's more to the story. If I ever find out the rest of it I'll let you all know. refugeepea, sounds like you must of had fun at the warehouse sale. You certainly got a good amount of stuff.

Holy Amazing!!! Remember how I bought like 4 boxes of vinyls for $5 not to mention like 3 other boxes I had previously picked up. Well my gf had a tag sale this weekend that I was able to set up at it. So I sold the vinyls for $1 each. I'm sure I could have sold them for higher but good god I have too many of them. The first person who flipped through them picked up 37 of them! So for two days I sold 174 of them. Yup $174 for say $20 investment. I was also able to sell a total of $100 worth of furniture that I had picked up. Majority of them were painted but some not. Even giving bargains I made a huge profit. All told with vinyls, furniture and misc stuff I sold $367. Oh yeah! Happy Dance!!!
I'll be having a tag sale this coming weekend which is Columbus Day here in Massachusetts. My town years ago started having a fair on the commons and it grew to tag sales all over town. I'll be having one for 2-3 days. (Columbus Day is Monday so we usually do the sale 3 days). I have so much stuff to get rid of. Bargains at auctions are great and thankfully I have a huge garage to store it in, but it's still so much work. Having a wallet full of money makes you forget the hard work.
