Today for my junior about senior. No picture because it's not my week and they don't cooperate for pictures anymore. It was a half day for them as their district does a freshman orientation kind of thing during the first half. Tomorrow is the real first day of their full schedule.

Great photos and good luck to everyone starting today. I was out of town when my kids started back mid-Aug and when I asked them to send first day of school photos they each sent a photo of the dog. Even after 12 years in CA, I believe the first day of school should be the day after Labor Day. Not in August at the height of visiting family vacation season.

My kids are grown and have families now. My oldest DGS started 10th grade last week. Next DGS started 2nd grade today. The twins started Pre-K today, too. The baby DGS is only 7 months, will be starting daycare later this month. I'm hoping all their parents got pictures for me to scrap!
Time needs to slow down. Seriously.

When I was back in school, in the Stone Age, LAUSD started after Labor Day. Now, they start in early to mid-August, same with where I live now. The private Christian schools start today.

In Oregon, it's always been after Labor Day, but it's creeping earlier in many districts (I DO NOT LIKE!). Our neighboring district started last week.

Washington used to always be the Tuesday after Labor Day, but most districts start before Labor Day now My niece and nephew started last Wednesday We do our extended family campout every Labor Day and they are always exhausted Friday night because of their new school schedule.

The boys went back today. 8th and 4th grade. The local schools all went back last week, but they go to a virtual charter school. That also means no fancy back to school clothes, I'm just thankful they changed out of their pajamas for pictures, LOL 20180904_142900 by 20180904_142913 by 20180904_142926 by

For the first time in 13 years, I had no back to schooler. While I am beyond thrilled that my grandson's graduation is over and well behind us (SO thrilled!), I kind of missed the process of preparing to send him back (just a tiny bit, really). I think it's a nostalgia thing. His little brother is only 3 and has a couple of years before he starts kindergarten, and by that time we'll have moved to another state and will miss being here for that milestone.

My youngest wanted a car ride instead of the bus this morning because of nerves so I forgot to take a picture. I've never forgotten before.

My oldest started her senior year today at her virtual charter school. I took a pic of her holding her preschool portrait out in our yard before her live classes started.

We're supposed to start tomorrow, but the teachers and district are still negotiating and it's been getting pretty nasty, so we'll see. DS will be a Junior. DD is starting her second year of college; classes start for her tomorrow too.
