Whether you are a traditional or pocket scrapper, what color combinations have you used lately, & what was your inspiration?
What are your tried-&-true color combinations that you frequently use, & why?
Do you find that you use the same color combinations in certain seasons or with particular events?
Any new color combinations that you' look forward to using soon?
Hope we can compile a list of common & outside-the-box creative color combinations to add variety to our pages! TIA

Whether you are a traditional or pocket scrapper, what color combinations have you used lately, & what was your inspiration? I'm afraid I won't be much help. I just pull my main colors from the photos I'm using.
What are your tried-&-true color combinations that you frequently use, & why? If I was going to do a whole album with a coordinated color scheme, I'd go with a mix of neutrals (beiges, greys) with little pops of unexpected color throughout. I'm not much of a risk taker.Do you find that you use the same color combinations in certain seasons or with particular events? No, most of my pages go into my family album, and the colors are different every time (because of the photos.) I'm not afraid to use a lot of brights and lively patterns for my kid pages, but I use them in an understated way, like as accents, or as part of a monotone look. Alright, maybe I am a little afraid of color. Any new color combinations that you' look forward to using soon? No, I'm sticking with my neutrals for my next project. My DB passed away last year, so I'm trying to make a book for my mom with photos of him.Hope we can compile a list of common & outside-the-box creative color combinations to add variety to our pages! TIA I hope we can too. I could use some inspiration!

I get my color inspiration from the photos - either literally or emotionally. So a beach picture could end up on a layout with blue and beige for the sand & sky or some sort of muted colors like soft red, yellow, green, blue or a woodgrain, etc.
I don't have any tried and true color combinations but I do like to mix them up. Lately, I seem to be using red & yellow together a lot. And actually just made a layout that has teal & red - I looks cool. I sometimes use grey to neutralize an otherwise bright palette.

Thank you for your replies. Lately, my pages include different shades of grey & white (e.g. grey/white/woodgrain, pale grey/white/navy, grey/white/red/light blue, charcoal/white/orange, pale grey/white/purple/teal, charcoal/white/lime) because they provide a crisp, clean, & neutral backdrop for the typically busy photos of our 12 y.o. son/his activities. Perhaps the fall will inspire me to focus on warm color combinations including chocolate & ecru (e.g. chocolate/ecru/orange, milk chocolate/ecru/red). msliz - My condolences on the loss of your brother; your mother will inevitably appreciate the time, effort, & thoughtfulness of the memory book you plan to create. Like you, I gravitate toward neutrals & accent with a pop of color(s). christinec68 - Your pages sound colorful, varied, & interesting. Although not complete, our son's toddler/early elementary years are scrapped with bright primary & secondary colors often grounded only by an ounce of white. Now my photos typically are a posed group of pre-/teen boys wearing colorful clothing or taken during a basketball game with an abundance of neutrals. I aspire to return to mixing colors without defaulting to neutrals!
Please feel free to add your favorite color combinations!

I scrap 8.5"x11 and 12"x12" pages. Typically like to go with neutrals but i'll also do combos that are neutrals with blues/greens/yellows or kraft/black/reds. I think the colour combos are driven mainly by the photo.

For me, it all depends on the photos. I like to bring out colors from within the photos or at least complimentary ones. For instance, if I notice a lot of orange in my photos, then what I'll do is turn to some of my 6x6 paper pads and find one that has oranges in it and see what other colors were paired in that pattern. I've tried just picking a color theme and trying to use it throughout and I can't do it. I either get bored with it really quickly or frustrated because not all the photos aren't really complimented by it.

Whether you are a traditional or pocket scrapper, what color combinations have you used lately, & what was your inspiration? Lately I have been really in to bright greens and bluesWhat are your tried-&-true color combinations that you frequently use, & why? chocolate, red and beige. Always looks good together and goes with most pictures.Do you find that you use the same color combinations in certain seasons or with particular events? Any new color combinations that you' look forward to using soon? I saw an ad recently with purple, light blue and a sort of hot pink. It looked much prettier than that sounds!Hope we can compile a list of common & outside-the-box creative color combinations to add variety to our pages! TIA There was an old club scrap set that had a dark pink (almost looked red at first glance) and light blue (with a bit of green) and a light green. It was the shades they used (they really do have the best paper) that made it fabulous. I am almost out of it - and so far I haven't been able to replace the dark pink or the light blue exactly. FYI: I *think* the set was called let me count the ways.

My favorite color palette is shades of turquoise, pink and white with some added yellow or red or lime....I use it for Easter, girly pages, summer pages, even Christmas (with a little more red/lime thrown in)....surprisingly, all of my pages still manage to look quite different! I use different color lines for Halloween, Valentines, Thanksgiving, vacations, and pages where my son is the focus, so I guess that helps balance out the album overall.
ETA: I pay no attention to the colors in the photos, unless it is a single photo page, which is pretty rare for me.

Kristina Werner used to do "Color Inspiration" posts on her blog. She's discontinued that series but you can still find them there if you do a search. They're from 4-5 years ago, but I still look at them from time to time for inspiration.

Thanks for sharing your color combinations! angsandy: Like you, I tend to mix neutrals, such as kraft & black, with blues/greens/reds for my boy pages. jlprincess21: I like your approach of using patterned paper as inspiration for creating color combinations. Also, I appreciate the 'Color Inspiration" recommendation. phdscrap: I plan to use your chocolate/red/beige suggestion on my next fall page & hope to try purple/light blue/hot pink & dark pink/light blue/light green soon. redshoes: I like your clean, fresh, & versatile turquoise/pink/white with yellow, red, or lime combinations. It's interesting the same color s can be used in different proportions to create variety.
Please feel free to add your favorite color palettes!

i have a hard time with color combos, probably because i have a hard time with using paper that's not in a kit.
