Cardtober???
Over on the Scrapbooking board, Sketchtember is off to a rollicking start. There are 7 daily hosts, each prepared to start a thread on “her” day with a new challenge. I got to thinking that b/c the first Saturday of October is World Cardmaking Day (WCD) that there might be some interest over here to do something similar with CARDS...
Not necessarily a card sketch each day, but some sort of card inspiration ( maybe a mood board, a list of elements, a colour combo, or design type like C&S or vintage, or...) and a sample? So essentially a card challenge every day in October.
To to do this, we would need seven hosts (one for each day of the week), plus maybe a guest host to fill in on days the hosts can’t cover
Any interest in this?

Maybe maybe a guest host - I'm not much of a card-maker, just simple stuff....but I know the scrapbook challenges have upped my game so card challenges would hopefully do the same.

I love the idea of Cardtober! It's also my birthday month, so I love October 😊 I'd be happy to be a host.

Sounds like a good idea. I haven't done anything like this before but I think I could be a host.

I'm happy to help out as a host. I've never done anything like this and I'm not a follower of the scrapbooking monthly challenges - guess I better check them out to see what I've gotten myself into!!!

I've never really commited to any of the challenges here (or on the SB board) but there's always a first time! Count me in as a host if you still need one.

I hope a lot of people will play along!
If you *just* want to make a card a day in October and follow along with the prompts, you will have 31 cards at the end of the month. If you are like me, once you put together one card, you will have scraps and ideas for how to make a few other cards as well, so some of us may end up with more than 31 cards.
If you are interested at all in playing for team points with a bunch of other crafters, and being encouraged and inspired by them, watch for the October Team Challenge sign up thread on the Scrapbooking board. I will be listing Cardtober as challenge #1 in the October challenges, with a chance to earn up to 5 points for your team for every card you create during the month.

I won't be able to be on a team, because I probably won't be able to make a card every day, but I would love to play on whatever days I can.

ALL are welcome on the teams and it's been a great way to get to know people better.

I completely missed this thread!!! I would have been happy to host. Let me know if you still need a host. How does this work regarding teams and points? I do PL, but not traditional scrapbooking right now so I didn't get involved in Sketchtember, but I make cards all the time.

I definitely would like to play along, but I won't join a team because often I don't follow through - if work gets too busy, or my son has a flare-up of his autoimmune disease. I definitely will make at least a few cards, though. I'm really excited to see the response to this!!

I completely missed this thread!!! I would have been happy to host. Let me know if you still need a host. How does this work regarding teams and points? I do PL, but not traditional scrapbooking right now so I didn't get involved in Sketchtember, but I make cards all the time. We will catch you next time we need a host! When playing along with the teams, you don't need to be doing traditional scrapbook pages. Each time you create something (and a card definitely qualifies as "something"), you claim a point for your team. If you share it with us, you claim another point. On top of that, you can claim bonus points each time you meet one of the other monthly challenges, and many of them have to do with simply using something, like stars, on your project. So that could apply to a card, a PL page, a wall hanging, whatever. You can claim bonus points each time you use that element on a new project. So if the challenge was to use 4 stars, and you created and shared 20 cards, each with four stars on them, that would add up to 60 points for your team, even if you didn't add any of the other stuff from the other challenges. This month, if those were 20 Christmas cards, that would be another 20 points... And participants are invited to set challenges at the beginning of the month. So if you plan to create Christmas cards this month, you could smack down a challenge to "Create a Christmas card". If you have a kit that uses lots of, say, purple, you can create ANOTHER challenge to "Use purple". Or, challenge people to use glitter, or hand coloured stamps, or... you get the picture. It makes it fun for everyone else, and every time you use what you were going to use anyway you get to add up the points! Hope you gals decide to play along with Cardtober AND with the October team challenges.

But you don’t need to be a part of a team or worry about points to play along with Cardtober. Just open up the daily challenge and give it a whirl! Would love to see your takes on the challenges, so if you haven’t signed up for Flickr, or don’t know how to link from IG or fb, maybe figure out how to do that during this next week
