A design principle that's often cited regarding patterns is gallon/quart/pint/cup/ounce. What patterns do you often combine for a striking & well-balanced layout? TFS

I like a small print and a stripe. Overall, I prefer smaller prints in patterned paper because they don't seem to overwhelm my photos! I also like them for cards.

For me it is often a dot, a stripe or plaid, and a floral. Sometimes I add in or substitute a script or dictionary or other typography print.

I must admit, after being a Glitter Girl fan for so long, I love using different patterns and not really giving too much thought into them.

Thanks for your replies.
My layouts start with a solid colored cardstock base. Pattern is usually introduced via the photos &/or actual memorabilia, then complemented with plaids, stripes, chevron, polka dots, herringbone, or other classics. Since I'm generally theme-challenged, I prefer small repetitive icons/images (probably because they resemble a classic pattern) & struggle with/avoid larger scale patterns.
Please add your go-to or favorite pattern combinations!

I love mixing patterns, mainly geometrics and looking at my recent layouts I done : - chevron with large polka dot - diamond, small floral, random polka dot - small stars, chevron, medium floral, wood grain - small text, wavy lines, diagonal stripe, small chevron - diagonal stripe, cloud+sky, polka dots - large horizontal stripe, bokeh, diagonal stripe, large text - arrows, large floral, small hexagon, tone-on-tone diagonal
