That’s right! Holy crap! The thing goes 200 mph and can get as high as 18,000 feet. And its an acrobatic plane so my husband does rolls and loops and spins!

Nice! My dad was a pilot and flight instructor. He would've loved flying that plane. Hope your dh has fun.

Completely awesome, but you could not pay me enough money to get in something that size that actually leaves the surface of the earth!!!!! My best friend was a pilot, and he would have been salivating over this little gem. May your Dh have many happy and safe hours chasing clouds.

Luckily for me, I’m not afraid to fly in it. He’s flown me in a lot of little planes and this one feels the most solid of all of them. I will not do any acrobatic stuff but both my sons do. They can even fly themselves.

Don't those home made ones smack into the ground quite a lot? linkI always roll my eyes when married people "forbid" each other from doing things, but there would be no way in hell I would allow my (theoretical) husband to fly a plane he built. I think it's great that he built it...but would not let him fly it...unless you don't like him very much.

I would assume if he can do loops in a plane, and have the skills to actually build a working plane, he's probably quite skilled and can get himself out of most sticky situations.
My husband would be quite jealous, I'm NOT going to show him this post though. I don't need a damn plane. LOL Already have a limo I want to ditch. (cross fingers it sells tomorrow)

So how does that explain all those pilots who DO die in home made planes? They also had the skills to build them and fly them...until the day they didn't.

I think it's great that he built it...but would not let him fly it...unless you don't like him very much. He’s not here right now or I would have him respond. When we were first married I made him give up his motorcycle. We were starting a family and it just made me worry so much. He did so without complaint. Now we are close to retiring and I really don’t want to stop him. He’s an engineer and doesn’t have a death wish. He’s an experienced pilot (and sailor, he does it all) so I’m just going to relax and have fun as he flies me all over the Southwest to visit state and national parks, museums, basically anywhere I want to go within a 1,000 mile radius, we can do in a weekend. From our house in SoCal we cn be at the Grand Canyon in about 45 minutes and fly along the entire Colorado River and be home in time for dinner.

That would be awesome to have that knowledge to do that. My brother in law had his pilots license. He offered to fly me to the next state over to see a concert I wanted to go to. I wouldn’t even let that idiot drive me down the street. I certainly wouldn’t let him fly me.

Awesome!
My best friend's husband is building a plane right now, and my uncle built one too. I continue to be stunned by how it all goes together and then flies.

You have a talented husband. What fun to go on trips and be home for dinner. You are a lucky wife. Kudos to your husband for building it!

WONDERFUL!- My pilot, plane owning (Ercoupe) husband would be so envious I might not show him the photo.
Congratulations to your husband and yourself too. It's a beautiful plane.

Congratulations to your DH! How long did it take him to build it?
What is the destination for the inaugural flight?
