Her story makes NO sense. It definitely seems like there is more going on here and I hope she is held accountable. And that she may well have used the fact that police shootings of people of color are almost always ruled justified as a way to try to get away with murder... that’s beyond disgusting.
Here’s to the truth coming out and her facing appropriate consequences.
RIP Mr Jean

I think it will be difficult to demonize this man given his standings in the community but we've seen it happen before. It is also being reported that the two had a romantic relationship. I have not seen anyone demonize him. There's more to this story....she should face charges

We have definitely seen patterns of black victims of violence portrayed much differently and more negatively than white victims by news media, despite being innocent. That is undeniable.

There is absolutely more to this story than we are first seeing. I have not heard that they might possibly have had a romantic relationship. She is currently being charged with manslaughter. I hope that we get an honest and thorough investigation and increase that charge to murder if it is warranted.
Edit to correct my statement: There is supposed to be a warrant for manslaughter coming but that has been put on hold as this investigation has been turned over to the Texas Rangers instead of the Dallas PD. Hopefully by turning this investigation over to the Texas Rangers, we will get all of the truth as to what happened.

I'd be very cautious with that GoFundMe. There's no explanation of the organizer's relationship to the Jean family. It's not verified, and the organizer has no history on the site.
Remember there is that case going on right now where some couple raised $400k for a homeless guy who helped them out and the money is all gone... and it appears they spent most of it on things that had nothing to do with him.

The whole thing is fishy. I haven’t heard anything about a romantic situation, but that would make sense. I initially wondered how drunk/high you have to be to go to a wrong apartment, realize the key doesn’t work, still not understand it is the wrong unit, pound on the door and shoot the one who answered. Just something fishy about that shooting.

Yes, there has to be something more to this.

is it something like when you drive home you are on 'autopilot' and sometimes can't remember the actual drive home
lost in thought - got off on wrong floor
but holy shit - don't you realize immediately it isn't your apartment
different foyer/entry - not your shit on the walls or lying around
there's more than is being reported

different foyer/entry - not your shit on the walls or lying around She never made it in the front door. I suspect that he came to the door to find out who was breaking into his apartment and they encountered each other in the door way. He may have even answered the door holding a gun as he is allowed to do in Texas if he is protecting his home. I do not know this to be true but it is a possibility. All I know is that an innocent man lost his life and I am hoping that the Texas Rangers do a full and proper investigation to get to the truth of this.

The report I read said that he opened the door - her key was "in" the lock as she had been trying to unlock the door, but obviously couldn't as it was the wrong door. The next door neighbor said she heard nothing before the gunshot, no banging, knocking or indication of a disagreement. It sounds like he opened the door and she shot him immediately. It didn't suggest anything about a relationship between the two.

Black Twitter found the name of the officer before Dallas PD released it to the public. I've also seen pictures of her and read reports that she was in an officer involved shooting with only 4-5 years on the force. The photos show a white woman standing next to a man holding up white supremacist hand signs though she doesn't look like the same woman now being identified as Amber G. Other photos show a white woman standing next to a man who looks like Jean the victim and report their involvement.
I've also seen reports that their buildings have a fob system (like most new builds) and aren't on the same floor.
Since the name released matches the one on the blog that I saw first reporting his death, I'm going to assume they've also got a bit of the details right as well. Black Twitter also posted a video (we know those don't matter and I don't watch them) showing an officer pacing and an EMT sitting atop an already dead Jean. attempting to revive him. They also internet sleuthed what his parents do over in St. Lucia and reported his mother is undergoing breast cancer treatment.
Things we do know: We know Jean is dead. A white officer shot him. And a huge number of Americans still don't get why black people are done standing for patriotic songs when we don't have basic protections.

They feel their patriotism and traditions are threatened while people are protesting because people's LIVES are threatened.

I was reading up on this earlier today. There is definitely more to the story & I hope they are able to throw the book at her. I did read somewhere this am (maybe on WFAA?) that Mr. Jean's family and friends have said there was no relationship between them and that the photos floating around the webs are not with her, but someone else.

m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5b9afc61e4b046313fb95f27/amp“An off-duty cop goes into the wrong apartment and shoots the man who lives there dead, and so, as we’ve come to expect, local law enforcement is doing what it can to cast aspersions at the innocent victim — to suggest he was ‘no angel’ — and therefore apparently deserved to be shot dead in his own home,” Menschel told HuffPost. “And much of the media plays along, amplifying law enforcement’s propaganda.” After the affidavit was released, Fox 4 News published a story about the search of Jean’s home. The headline, which has since been changed, highlighted the marijuana in the search warrant affidavit without mentioning any other items that were seized from Jean’s apartment." Last thread where the board talked about the media portrayal of black victims: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/81422/nia-wilson?page=1

Yeah I saw they are talking about the marijuana they found. Completely irrelevant to what happened. I hope this woman goes to jail for the rest of her life. I find it ridiculous that the marijuana is even mentioned. And why search his house? What he has in there is also irrelevant. They should search her place.

I’m glad to see that someone will pursue this as a murder charge. It’s absolutely appropriate charge here, not manslaughter.

If it wan't her apartment,
1. How didn't she get into it without being let in, unless she has a sideline as a burglar. 2. Why did she not notice that it wasn't her apartment when she entered it, if she really did enter the wrong one by accident.
Nah, not buying this flight of fancy.
