Would you share what furniture you have in your scrap room and what you like and don't like about it? I'm making some changes in mine and am not sure yet. Also, just for fun - what color is your walls. thanks,

My walls are green and my favorite scrapbook piece is my cheapo, huge cabinet that is simply a wardrobe from Home Depot or Lowes. This isn't it, but similar. It holds my paper, in the organizers, tons of other stuff and I put hooks on the inside of the doors for more organization. I paid about $100 for mine over 10 years ago. LOVE it.

Congratulations on your scraproom update!
My dedicated space is painted pear green (i.e. Sherwin-Williams Hearts of Palm) with white moldings/trim & plantation shutters. It's a crisp, clean, & neutral backdrop to the dark furniture & white, orange, & pink accessories.
Furniture includes a discontinued wheat-stained Pottery Barn (PB) Bryce Project Table, two black PB Studio Wall Shelves that holds photos & supplies, a discontinued black PB Bedford 5-drawer Cabinet/flat file for stamp storage, a black/brown Ikea Expedit 2x2 as a diecut station, a black saddle stool, a PB Basic chair & ottoman with white Ikea Ektorp slipcovers, & a black-brown Ikea Lack side table. I selected furniture that wasn't scrap-specific & could be repurposed elsewhere in our home.
HTH & best wishes!

My scrapbook room is pale aqua blue.
My furniture includes: - huge vintage desk, 5 ft wide by 3 feet deep. - vintage document chest with long, shallow drawers. Great for oversized papers. - a stack of Jetmax/Recollections cubes from Michael's. My least-favourite storage furniture, but it's functional. - counter height cabinet with doors and drawers. The bottom holds plastic Iris cases and old cardstock. - drop-leaf old table. Works as a second work surface. Also easily pulled out of my room when we need an extra table for dinner. - vintage dresser for ribbon, stamps, and punches. - vintage corner cabinet. I keep paint and mixed media supplies in it. - rolling RASKOG cart from IKEA. I store my most-used supplies and tools in it. - lots and lot of wall shelves.

Man, Ashley, your scrap room sounds like my dream room! I love vintage style stuff! My craft room is the smallest bedroom in the house, and has a twin sized bed set up as a day bed, for a place for my boys to flop and hang out with me in here. LOVE that they do that! I also have an antique kitchen table as my desk, it's small for a kitchen table, 48x30 but perfect for what I need. That's currently in the corner by the closet. I also have an ugly 6 ft long folding table, that I have against the wall and underneath the 3 wood shelves I have mounted on the wall. I have burlap thrown over it as a tablecloth, and then over that is clear vinyl9?) used for table cloths or something, I bought it at walmart from a huge roll. I can dirty it up and wipe it off without messing up the burlap underneath. This is where my computer and printer are. When the room is being used for company, I will take down the folding table and move the antique table into it's spot underneath the wall shelves, to give more floor space, and I move the wicker chair from the gameroom in for our guests. ( side note- which is actually done way more than I had anticipated! My daughter lives in another state and visits a couple times a year, my sister has stayed with me, and a friend is coming down from Chicago next month. Who knew I had so many single, traveling chicks that actually like me!??) I keep ALL my scrapbook and craft stuff in the closet, nothing is stored in the room itself other than my photo boxes that take up one of the shelves. In the closet, I took out the rods and have 5 wire shelves along the length of the closet, and have removed the sliding doors. ( That was an accident, way back when this was my youngest son's room - he kept pinching his fingers in the doors so we took them off) Now I just have a shower curtain tension rod with a sheet hanging off it for a closet door, which is usually pulled off to one side and draped over a hook on the wall so I can see and get to my stuff. The walls, my son's sweet girlfriend helped me paint them a beautiful tranquil blue this summer. LOVE it, with the warm wood of the desk, and wheat colored simple window panels. I love the rustic-ish, vintage beachy vibe. Not that you asked about it, but above the daybed, I have a collection of my favorite beach photos taken on various vacations through the years. I adore this room, it by far reflects my loves and taste more than any other room in my house. Smallest room in the house, but it's where all four of us plus the two dogs can be found hanging out together. Go figure.

My girlfriend just put in the martha stewart collection and it is beautiful! She loves that some of the drawers are very shallow, but deep. She said it just ate up her supplies

I won't have my room for a few more weeks, until we move in and change out the carpet up there, but here's the plan for my little space in the attic: My computer and printer will sit on a desk made from a door and two file cabinets. I have a really crappy chair I bought from Staples last year, and the pleather is all cracked and flaking off. I know "you get what you pay for," but really? Less than a year and it looks horrible. Still functions though. My work space will be an old kitchen table that's very sturdy. I have some wooden chairs I'm going to paint in bright colors. I'm also going to have an old toybox for extra seating, and inside I'll be keeping giftwrap, bows, and bags. Behind the table, against the wall, I'll have two white 2x4 Expedit units, both horizontal. Unfortunately, I'll only get to use 8 of the 16 cubbies for craft stuff because the bottom row will be used to store sleeping bags and extra blankets. On top of the Ikea shelves I plan to keep a bunch of Sterilite 12x12 three drawer units. I'm not sure how many, but they'll probably be stacked two units high. I have some cubes I want to fit on that wall too, maybe on the ends? I'll see what I have for room when it's all in place. On another wall, I'm also going to have a small bookshelf to keep extra school supplies for the kids, and a Raskog cart to keep next to my table. And in another corner, I'll have a bed for when my mom comes to visit. Other than that, I'll have one odd piece. We have a sectional sofa that is getting a makeover in the family room. Instead of setting it up as intended, with 2 seats plus 3 seats plus the corner, I'm turning it into a 5 cushion straight line sofa and keeping the corner piece in my craft room for 11 yo DD to snuggle up on. And I'll give her a little table for her laptop so she can plug in near me. ETA: My walls are some shade of off white right now. I don't know what I should paint them. Some kind of "greige" neutral, I suppose.

The number one thing I love about my space is my large double sided desk that sits in the middle of the room. The idea was for hubby to sit on one side and me to sit facing him....but of course, he's never there so I pretty much have the whole thing to myself! My back is to the longest room in the space, where I have some built in cabinets to my left (in an L shape, with a sink on the shortest arm) and a mexican style sofa table directly in back of me that has my kits, photo storage system (album), some random tackle boxes that hold smaller embellishments like brads, flowers, embroidery floss, etc. It is similar to this one, but rather than drawers it has open storage in the middle and then storage behind doors on either side.

My walls are a medium turquoise or aqua color. My furniture is white and I have pink accents. I wanted to do a shabby chic look but it's not quite working. I'll be moving with the next year and I plan to have a slightly larger room. Right now my favorite piece is my Ikea shelves. But this weekend I stopped by an antique shop and I bought this: It won't fit in my room right now, but it will definitely get put in my new room. I am so excited about it and can't wait to load it up. It's going to be my die cutting station. Sorry the pics are so big. I still can't figure out how to resize them!

My room is cream color with one accent wall painted tomato red. My furniture consists of a Espresso 4x4 Expedit, a vintage oak dresser painted black. My table is a vintage post office work bench, approximately 3x5 (a little smaller) and is counter height. I have 15 cubes from Target, from the home dept. along one wall for all my paper, tools etc. These are bigger than the scrap cubes. I have 3 more cubes tucked into a corner next to the Expedit. I also have a small little four drawer chest, from my childhood bedroom. And one more piece that is my old changing table that is now my die cutting station. I also have 5 wooden drawer sets that Ikea used to sell. And my Raskog cart that is my tool caddy. And my room is small, just a little bigger than 9x10. It is a tight fit, but I make it work. My room used to be slightly bigger, but I traded rooms with my son to be closer to the kitchen/family area. I now have a bigger window for lots of light and a beautiful ocean view. Daughtryfan, that is beautiful!! A great find!

My room is functional, but not really decorated yet. I took over the family computer room a few months ago, which involved practically using a shovel to clear the place out. I painted 3 walls a light taupe, but still have not decided on a color for the accent wall. I really wanted to paint it a plum color. Even though there is lots of natural light, I worry that plum will taint the colors I am working with, so I may just go with a sage green.
As for furniture, I got the Costco project table last spring. It has lots of storage space, and I love the height. My Thickers and die cuts are in a couple of cardboard suitcase-type boxes on the shelf of my project table. Washi is in a WRMK carousel organizer inside a hat box. Various tools are in baskets in the shelves, along with some albums, paper pads, 2 Iris boxes of current projects, and some CM organizers with my punches. The only thing on top of the table is a lamp and a small organizer with my most used tools (scissors, adhesive, some pens, xacto, etc.)
I moved a small apothecary chest up from the kitchen to hold stamps, brads, misc. tools and such. I kept the old corner desk with computer, printer and silhouette. A clear pocket organizer hangs on the back of the door with embellishments such as veneer, bling, lace. I have some small table top chests - one holds Stickles and mists, the other has stamp pads. I put a round table top and tablecloth over my stacking paper organizer, which makes a nice little room accent and hides that junky plastic thing.
The room has a walk-in closet that is currently full of books and photo albums, but my hope is to clear it out so that all of my photos, other craft and sewing items can be organized in there. I would like to get the coordinating 2 x 4 shelf unit to go with my table and have all of my albums in that. I also have a CD stand that I am repurposing as a ribbon and flower shelf.
I love having my own "Mom Cave" and find myself hanging out in there a lot (the mini fridge stocked with wine is another bonus.) One of these days I'll post pics.
Have fun putting your new space together!
ETA: beautiful furniture piece, Daughtryfan! I can see decorating the room around it. My vision is for my room to have a bohemian vibe. I think I need that chest!

Wow Mary, that is a GREAT cabinet find! My room is really piecemeal with absolutely zero charm. My expedit, desk and Alex unit are the things I couldn't live without. I have a kitchen table as my desk. My Alex (Ikea) fits under, although I keep my cameo on it, so I only push it party under. It's one of my favourite pieces. My other favourite is my expedit with all my pps and stamps and pictures and albums in it. Within reach of my desk too. I have the cubes from M's but they hold older/less used stuff. My walls are a cheerful warm yellow, important since I'm in the basement with ZERO windows!!! So I guess I'd have to add that my Ott lights (1 floor model, 2 desk) are pretty important too

I'm going to be changing a bunch of stuff in my room in another few months. Right now I have a mishmash of plastic Iris carts, a folding table and particle board shelf units that I hate. Those, along with an old entertainment center that the former owners of our house left here for us will be making way for built-in cabinets and wall shelving.
This is the stuff I'm keeping. I bought four white Ikea kitchen cabinets that I converted to 12x12 paper shelves after seeing the idea on Pinterest. I stacked them to take up less floor space, and had DH build a base for them to sit on so they are up off of the floor. I made a work island out of 16 CIS cubes, helped DH build a base for those too and topped it with a huge new countertop that I scored from a building materials outlet place for $40. It holds a ton of stuff and is a great work surface for laying out larger projects. I'm keeping two 8' heavy duty old folding banquet tables but I'm getting new tops made for them. They're a perfect fit for my space and other than being ratty looking right now they're in great shape otherwise. I have an awesome U shaped desk that I bought when I moved in that I love.
My favorite piece in the room is an antique railroad cabinet. It has a bunch of shallow drawers that used to hold train schedules. My aunt got it when she worked in the office at a railroad when they updated things in the 60's and my uncle used it to store paints and art supplies in their basement. After they both died, my mom's twin sister gave it to me to store my stamps. I quickly outgrew it for that purpose, but just love it for holding other small stuff. It's dark brown wood with the original descriptions painted onto the drawer fronts. It's cool. I wish I could find an antique card catalog to go with it but they're had to find and expensive every time I do run across one so that's not in the budget.
I think the only other thing I'd like to get would be a nice storage bench of some kind that I can use to hold some of DD's books, toys and art stuff. I'd make a thick cushion and some pillows for the top to make a cozy place for DD to hang out with me and read or watch videos.
My walls are off white on top with very light tan beadboard wainscoting on the bottom. I take a lot of project photos down there and didn't want to have an odd color cast reflecting onto my projects. I will be so happy when it's all done and everything is finally unpacked and neatly put away. I can't wait for it to become my favorite happy place.

I'm hoping to do my new space in a cream color for the walls. The room has only 1 narrow window and not much light. Plus I like to display photos, thought my original sage green would clash with those. But I've been going back and forth between built-in cabinets, just open shelving (I love seeing everything), and finally shabby chic styled. I flip back and forth, but I really want the vintage finds with a shabby touch so I'll be hitting garage sales and junk stores in the spring. Until then, I'll use what I have which is just regular cheap-o bookcases on the side. My standing work surface, which will not change unless I build one myself, is rubber maid cubes with melamine board on top. That is so functional and I've really enjoyed it.

My walls are a peachy color, window treatments are gray velvet. * Large custom-made farmhouse work table with the X legs * Large 7 x 7 cupboard that was custom made to look like one at the local Anthro store * Industrial chic sofa table * 3 drawer printer stand (also an Anthro knock off of their popular ordinal chest). * A pink visitors chair (World Market)
Right now I have a lot of stuff just sitting around not put away or organized, so I can't tell you if the room is actually functional or not, but it has furnishings that make it feel more like a room and less like an office or kitchen.

My scrap space shares the same room as my office so it's really only one small wall. I have an old timber desk that had some dings and marks in it when I got it so I don't feel guilty if I drop messy stuff on it. On top of my desk are two old metal tool drawer sets that I spray painted red. They hold all my embellishments. I have a timber set of floor standing tool drawers which hold all my paper scraps, mists, alphas, card blanks, and other bigger stuff. It is just the right height for my Mum's typewriter which sits on top of it. Buttons are in an old tall sugar bowl, and flowers are all mixed in together in a glass hurricane lamp. My 12x12 paper is in a set of two drawers I bought at Target not long after I started scrapping. I only have a small stash of paper so if I can't fit it in the drawers, I can't buy any more.
I have my grandmother's old click clack couch (one of those old 1960's ones that lays flat into a single bed) which is still in the original fabric although the cats have clawed it and it's starting to look seriously shabby. My computer is on a long standing height desk.
I started out with a laminate kitchen table and lots of plastic storage but over the last couple of years I've been replacing it with things I love. I prefer closed storage as my room is pretty full and I find it helps reduce the visual clutter. The challenge with that is that I sometimes forget to use things. I've been working on a major vacation album lately so I'm trialling pulling out all the embellishments I might use and tossing them in a basket on my desk to see if that makes me use some of my older stuff.
I do most of my journaling on the computer and often listen to podcasts while I scrap so I love having it in the same room. I tried moving my desk to a part of the house with better light but found I hated being away from my computer.
My walls are painted a light beige but only because it's a south facing room which means it gets next to no sunlight.

My house is traditional southwestern style (I live in NM), so lots of wood and colorful mexican tile.

My room is yellow. I have a big trestle desk from Target that is white with baskets in the side shelves. Then I have an old desk that I painted white that I use for the laptop, or when someone else comes over to scrap/craft. Then I have an even older desk painted white with my sewing machine on it. We have yet another desk over in the corner that is white and holds our main family computer, plus next to it is a wide printer stand and 2 drawer filing cabinet. On another wall I have a 4x4 expedit from IKEA with all my scrapbooks in it and photos all over the top. I have an old bookcase, too, also painted white.

my walls are a violet color and the ceiling is blue - love it, my 'girly' space that dh had no say in. I have Ikea cabinets along the walls...with their butcher block for my work surface also 2 Ikea shelves and an older silver colored bakers rack for my cricut 'center' Right now I also have an 'island' created by putting 2 microwave carts back to back (where my cutterpillar sits) BUT that will change once my kids move out and their bedroom becomes my crafting 'overflow' room.

My room is painted a soft aqua blue and has red accents. The desk is pottery barn black and it takes up most of the small extra bedroom. Several years ago, I bought a small/cheap black armoire with glass doors from Target. I told myself that I would purge everything that wouldn't fit in that cabinet. I am still not quite that contained but - almost.

My scrap room is in what is supposed to be our formal dining room, but we're not the dinner party type and I don't see the sense in having a formal space I will never use. Now, it gets used every day! I have a kitchen island with a butcher block top that I use as my primary work surface that I got from Big Lots a few years back. It sits in the center of the room angled so that I can see out the window, see into the kitchen and see into the living room. Then I have an old kitchen table and chairs that we use as the art/homework table so the kids can do their work in the afternoon and not have to move everything off the kitchen table for dinner. It's on the wall to the left. My girls also like to sit there and do projects when I'm in there at night or on the weekends doing my scrappy stuff. I have what I think is supposed to be a microwave cart that is made out of stainless steel that I use as a printer stand and my Cricut fits nicely on one of the lower shelves. Got that cart on super clearance at Target for $15 3 or 4 years ago. It lives to the right of the window. Then I have some Jetmax cubes (9 total) that are stacked 3 high that fit nicely under my window and that's where my Project Life stuff lives. All my other supplies are in a 7 drawer tall Sterilite drawer thingy. I have to have a place for everything and put everything away to start with a clean and neat space or else I get distracted by the clutter! I know a lot of people are the opposite and have to see everything at once, but not me. My walls are painted a medium slate gray with lots of blue/green undertones, so it changes throughout the day depending on the light. It's a Valspar color called Peaceful that I got from Lowe's. Since the room is the dining room, there's also white wainscoting, so the blue is only on half of the walls. It's a bit of a hodgepodge, but it works for now.

Here are some photos of my room. Don't mind the mess. I can't remember the name of the paint colour, but I just redid my room in the spring. It's still a work in progress. We only hung the pallet up on the weekend. I want to buy some hanging metal buckets from IKEA for the slats on the pallet to store tools and get some of the clutter of my desk. I didn't take photos of the opposite side of the room, but that is where my computer sits as well as an old typewriter and tv. I would love to get a new computer desk and a sewing table for my machine. My room is nothing fancy, but I love my woman cave. LOL!

Go figure. Do you have any pics of your room? I have a daybed in mine which I really love and so I'm trying to make the scrap portion work around this and just seem short on table top space for cutters, big shot, cricut, sewing machine and still space for me to work. Thanks,

I have 2 4x4 Expedits - one is for my albums, craft supplies and stamping supplies. The other is for scrapbooking supplies.
I have two desks: one is just a long computer desk from Ikea, the second is the Target trestle table we were all getting five years ago (scrapbooking desk). I sit between them. The computer desk is up against the wall, and when I turn toward the scrapbooking desk I face the rest of the room.
I also have two small tv carts - one holds my printer, cameras, cords and office supplies. The other holds my Expression and my Evolution and it fits under the Ikea desk.
I have a kitchen cart that holds anything else to do with die cutting, mats, cartridges, dies, Sizzix, etc, as well as oddball tools (Fastenator, SewEasy). My CutterpillarPro sits on top.
All of my furniture is black. My walls are a paint technique (no idea what it is called) with three colors, the main two being a brownish taupe and a mauve. The previous owner of the house had it done. I like it - for the moment anyway.
While I like the Target table, I do wish I had something with drawers. Sometimes, I'd rather have more open space than the carts, but I like that I have certain "zones" for certain tasks, and that I don't have to pull out the larger tools and/or put them away. That's the trade off I guess, and why I have a scrapbooking room in the first place.
