Do you have some that are large, sturdy and don’t break within a few weeks of purchase?

Are you talking about these? I've had mine for at least 19 years because I know my kids played in them as babies. They are the super cheap plastic ones from Target.

We have one basket. I think it’s at least 20 years old. Very similar to the link posted above. Rubbermaid also.

I have a heavy duty plastic one in the laundry room that stays there for sorting and such -- it doesn't get carried around. I have a wicker laundry basket that I use to carry small loads to be folded and put away. The wicker one just makes me happy. Laundry is such a repetitive chore that I welcome anything - like a pretty wicker basket - that makes the experience a little more enjoyable.

Multiple decades ago we got sick of the plastic laundry baskets that always seem to break at the handles or the sides, so we bought about six of these big heavy duty plastic tubs with rope handles similar to THIS. I’m not sure if this one in the link is the same size as the ones we bought because the labels are long gone. We got them at the hardware store. I think one has a small crack in the bottom from trying to carry something too heavy in it at one point, but it’s still perfectly functional for carrying laundry. They have been with us through three residences, seven dogs, one kid and probably thousands of loads of laundry. Yeah, they were more expensive initially, but they have held up for almost 30 years so I would venture to guess they were a pretty good investment! ETA: They measure about 14” high and 18” diameter, so they’re good sized.

I must also be an aggressive laundry carrier, I have broken quite a few. I think its short arms and carrying them on my hip.

We have 3 of the Rubbermaid Stack-N-Sort laundry baskets. They're at least 10-12 years old, heavy-duty, and have held up really well. I like that they stack, and the handles can flip up or down. They're even made with a little bit of a curve on one side so you can easily carry them on your hip. I used to use wicker baskets (because they're prettier) but DH got tired of them poking things and falling apart. He's actually the one that found these baskets, LOL! They've been great!

I have a hip hugger like the first baskets in the link. I’ve had it for about 10 years and it’s held up well. I like the hip hugger aspect—it fits well on my hip to carry it. I often use my laundry baskets for hauling other things to events and such (I frequently bring food and decorations to pot luck, Church, or school events) and use the baskets to haul things around. They’ve gotten a lot of use over the years.

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing, lol. Over the years, my laundry baskets have been the subject of 'abuse' by 6 teens doing their laundry with a roughness. The handle covers may come off eventually, but other than that they have stayed intact. Add to that my 'laundry room' is the garage, with full-on heat and humidity that comes with living in FL. A death knell to most plastics. Yet, my laundry baskets never break. This has truly piqued my curiosity! What the hay are you doing to your baskets?!

I have the collapsible one from Costco. It's sturdy and yet folds down to just a few inches high if necessary.

So I've got some like this where the gray handle cover comes off and/or the handle itself breaks off altogether. I do have 3 that have lasted the longest that are made by Rubbermaid, but they've been discontinued, and they're starting to crack around the rim. So when I carry them, the cracked part snags my shirts. I've also got some like the Rubbermaid Stack and Sort link and those handles started coming off practically the minute I brought them home. I've tried wicker, but it snagged my clothes. Y'all with the geriatric laundry baskets--are your loads pretty heavy? I do tend to carry heavy loads and use my body to support the weight.

We also have Sterlite baskets, about 6 large and 4 small. We purchased them for moving, took some things over and unpacked everyday while we were painting the house, installing closets, etc. That was 10 years ago. Since then we've used them for packing, camping, gathering and storing (often heavy) things for whatever reason. They get tossed around and often live in the garage. And rarely are they used for something light like laundry (I'm a hang and fold as it comes out of the dryer kinda gal). There are some scratches on the bottom from outdoor use but otherwise they look new. So another one who is super curious what is causing all of these broken laundry baskets!

I have these, too, and they are great. I had finally had it with the crappy ones and bought two of these. That was several years ago and they are still awesome!

I must be a rough laundry basket handler. I’m in the market for a new one and it’s the Rubbermaid hugger. All the handles have broken , left with nothing but sharp edges,😤. It’s only a few years old, don’t make them like they use too.

We use canvas collapsible totes that are round. I think they are really designed for yard work. After about 15 years, I just recently replaced ours as the canvas started wearing out on the bottom around the wires. I like them because I can drag them down the stairs rather than carry a rigid basket. I worry about falling.
Amazon has a lot of options for this style of tote.

I have either Sterlite or Rubbermaid. I'm not home to look, but they've held up without breaking for years. I do throw my laundry baskets around, drop them on the floor while full of dirty clothes and carry a lot in them at one time- sometimes stacked on top of each other while both are full and I've yet to break one. We do have 2 that are a little taller than my Sterlite/Rubbermaid (no idea what brand they are) and the handle cover piece has come off. I replaced it with a bunch of duck tape so it still works just fine.

Y'all with the geriatric laundry baskets--are your loads pretty heavy? I do tend to carry heavy loads and use my body to support the weight. Yes, especially DH’s heavy duty work clothes. When we bought our current washer and dryer, DH made a point to tell the sales guy that we wanted machines that could handle large and heavy loads. We have a king size bed and we wanted something that could handle a king size comforter and blankets. I think part of the issue with people who break them might be when you’re short like I am you have short arms. So if you’re trying to hold it on your hip with one hand the basket gets kind of squeezed in in the middle (even if it has the hip hugger dip in the side). Squeeze the basket repeatedly in the same way week after week and eventually it’s going to crack at that stress point. That’s part of why I like the buckets with the rope handles, it forces me to carry it in front of me with both hands.

I bought one at Walmart about 10 years ago, it is hard plastic, brown wicker look to it, a hip hugger and the best laundry basket I have ever owned! It even takes being thrown down the basement stairs!! They don't have them anymore, never have seen them since. I have the white with grey handles and I hate that the handles come off and then they break. This basket can't take the throw down basement stairs, handles fly off!

I have 3 Sterilite baskets. White for dh and my clothes, teal blue for dd and grey for ds.
All 3 were recently replaced when 2 of them had broken handles
They were 8 years old. Ds plays with them and in them lol so they get more wear and tear

I've had this basket at least 10 years and it has survived several moves. Still looks great.
