I leave the porch light on & that provides light for the front rooms. We also have stairwell lights which provide enough light for the rest of the house.

The shower lights stay on, the lamp in the front room and the ceiling fan light. I am going to get something to have on in the room outside of bedroom because of the dog.

I do leave a nightlight on so that I don’t trip over one of my cats when I get up for a bathroom run in the middle of the night. For some weird reason, me heading to the bathroom, day or night, is a signal for the dog and all 4 cats to accompany me. I used to have a dark rug on the bathroom floor, which was almost a death trap when you house a black cat. I had no idea she was sitting on the rug and stepped right on her, pitching myself forward and smacking my forehead into the wall. I now have all light colored rugs in the house because a black cat on a dark rug does not show up with a nightlight.
And while I am mentioning that my cats need to go into the bathroom with me, I am also irritated that my black cat must use the litter box while I use the toilet. Almost every darned time. There are 4 litter boxes available in the house, but she chooses the one in the bathroom that I am occupying. If she just pees a bit, it isn’t so gross, but she frequently chooses that moment to poop. Especially if I happen to be pooping, so that means I will have to be in the room for a bit with the stench. I now keep a big box of matches within reach so that I can at least begin to rid the room of the stench. Oh, and she also doesn’t bother to bury it, which would at least help out a little. Darned cat.

My dog is afraid of the dark, so I leave a small lamp on in the family room for her.
No, my sweet baby isn’t spoiled...

We have outside flood lights on our barn. We are in a rural area and there are no street lights to speak of. We leave a small table light on in the kitchen. The bedroom is completely dark; I can't sleep well in a room with any light.

I leave a light on if it's after 11 and DS isn't home yet so it isn't totally dark when he gets home. Otherwise, we have lights on a few timers throughout the house so that it's not totally dark when we're not home. Plus, our front door is on a timer that goes on at dusk and stays on until around 7 and our back door has motion lights.

We live out where there are no street lights and our house is literally pitch black at night. You can’t see your hand in front of your face. I was afraid I would trip over one of the dogs so I bought a bunch of LED night lights that turn on automatically when it gets dark enough. I have them plugged in at various places throughout the house so one can navigate safely to anywhere we might need to go in the house in the dark. I don’t leave any overhead lights or lamps on anywhere in the house, and no night lights near our bedroom because ironically enough any excess light keeps me awake. Even the flashing light from my toothbrush charger drives me nuts. I even turn off the backlights on my alarm clock before I get in bed.

While I prefer to have all lights off inside to save energy, my husband has vision problems, so has always slept with lights on in the room outside the bedroom with the bedroom door open. I’ve gotten somewhat used to it.

No to porch light. We’ve had break ins and don’t want the light to help them break in.
Our house is completely dark except for a motion light in the bathroom. I like complete darkness when I sleep.

I leave the stairwell light or stove light on when I go to bed since my DH goes to bed later than I do. Or if someone's out later. That's it.

We turn them off. I don't want to pay for electricity I don't actually use.

No. The neighbors in the back corner of my house have their own personal "street" light over their driveway. That shines right into the bathroom window and the garage windows.
On the opposite corner in the front of my house, there is an "street" light that my neighbor pays for that was installed by the electric company. That keeps it light enough to walk through the living room and kitchen areas and the two bedrooms on that side. In fact, I have to have heavy curtains or blinds in those two bedrooms if you want it to be dark! Especially since the sun comes up on that side of the house.
