Goo morning! Sorry I missed the post yesterday. It tried to post a few times yesterday when we were traveling but couldn’t get into the forum. I hope everyone is having a good weekend. We have baseball today and the weather is supposed to be in the 30’s and snow or rank. Yuck. Meals probably won’t be that great but I’m trying not to snack. We went to a water park yesterday so even though we drove for almost 5 hours I probably got more walking in there and at the hotel than I usually do.

Have a great baseball weekend, Kristin.
All I can say is that I did TERRIBLE all week. We're going out for lunch with our son today and I'm pretty sure I'll do terrible for that too.
I really have to get my head in the right place. I'll get there.

Yesterday was rest day. We went out after work. I skipped the alcohol and pop. Had a rhubard soda without the extra syrup. It was very good. Had some veggies to snack on while they ate the deepfried stuff they always order.
Today is salads and treadmill

I started doing the Omada program 5 weeks ago and every week there is an online lesson. The first week's lesson talked about adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet. They recommended that you wash your produce as soon as you get home from the grocery store and put it in a place where you are going to see it - on your counter, in a bowl at the front of your fridge (don't have things hidden in drawers). Buy bags of frozen vegetables and just make one for every meal. It's surprising how many more fruits & vegetables you'll eat for snacks and meals just by making it a point to do those things. And if you are eating more of those things, you'll be eating less of other things. In addition to weighing yourself every single day and tracking everything we ate, fruits and vegetables were what we focused on that first week. Pretty much everyone in our group dropped about 2 pounds that first week.
The thought of stepping on the scale every single day was something I kind of dreaded, but I knew that accountability was needed. I've learned a lot about how my weight will fluctuate from day to day. I think twice about what I'm going to eat knowing that I have record it and step on a scale.

The thought of stepping on the scale every single day was something I kind of dreaded, but I knew that accountability was needed. I've learned a lot about how my weight will fluctuate from day to day. I think twice about what I'm going to eat knowing that I have record it and step on a scale. I’m with you on this, and how important it can be. I lost 50lbs. about 15 years ago and kept it off for about three. Then due to several factors I ate my way back to a 60lb. regain. My scale had broken during that and I never got a new one because, you know, ignorance is bliss . I was shocked when I was later weighed at a doctor’s appointment and realized I had gained it all back, plus. I’ve since lost 70lbs. and have been maintaining that for over two years. The scale plays an important part in that. I’m not a slave to it, but I do weigh myself once a day before my shower and it helps keep me accountable. I can also now judge better what kinds of foods I’m eating that tend to hold the water weight for a day or two, so I don’t freak out when I see a 5+ lb. fluctuation over two days. The scale has become a necessity for me try try and stay on a healthy track. Also, fruit has become my favorite thing. I have to really be careful how much I eat because I can pack away half a day’s calorie budget in fruit alone .

Yesterday I did okay. Last night, not enough sleep. Today didn't drink enough water. Tired. This too, shall pass. Tomorrow's another day.

Got enough water over the weekend, but yesterday was a food fest. Today was much better.

We just got home. Trying to unpack and get things cleaned up. I originally had tomorrow off but then all of my work appts that I was supposed to have on Thursday wanted to reschedule for tomorrow. That throws a wrench in my plan to use tomorrow to get groceries and plan food for the week. Ugh.
This weekend what I did eat wasn’t the best (for dinner) but overall I ate less than usual. We didn’t have lunch either day, just breakfast at the hotel (eggs and sausage) and then dinner out. I also walked a lot and it was cold outside so I am hoping that sitting out there in the freezing cold for several hours each day helped burn some calories!
I hope you all had a great weekend!

I'm getting ready to change my workouts and add some new things. I get bored with the same routines and I think my muscles need a shock. I'm doing good with food, but could do better...

Well, I had my appointment with the eye doctor. There's nothing wrong with my eyes. I'm waiting to hear back from my neurologist to see if he wants me to have any kind of further tests and until then just watch and wait. And his nurse said I'm still on fall risk precautions until the dizziness goes away for good. But if I want to go for walks, that's fine, as long as I use a cane for balance. I drop another step down in my medications taper schedule this week. It may be the answer to the headaches, dizziness, and ear ringing.

iamkristinl16, I saw on last week's thread you asked about Noom. I decided it do their two-week free trial a week ago and so far it's going well. Haven't really lost much weight, but it's only been a week and that's par for the course with me. It's a lot of psychological stuff and is a little cheesy, but also has a lot that makes sense. It's not a specific diet per se - they break foods into green, yellow and red groups based on volumetrics, which is a diet concept that's been around for a while. Basically they encourage you to eat more foods that are high in fiber and/or water because they are more filling. So veggies, fruits and whole grains are green. Lean meat, low-fat dairy, beans, eggs, etc. are yellow (eat in moderation) and fats and sugars are red (limit consumption). You have a daily calorie limit as well based on your goals and activity level. You get a coach that texts you but I'm pretty sure it's a bot unless you ask a specific question. As I've been doing mostly lower-carb eating for the past few years, it's been an adjustment for me to get used to incorporating more whole grains back into my diet, but this program really likes whole grains. And I have to say I feel more full than I've felt in a while.

I did a great job getting my workouts in this weekend, but not as good with watching what I ate. Had a date night with DH and indulged too much. Good luck in the coming week to everyone!

I haven’t been very “on plan” for awhile but ideally would like to stick with trim healthy mama for my daily nutrition/diet and also do 5:2. So, I’m not really interested in the diet portion of noom. But I need to get back to logging what I eat and doing the above. The psychological part is what appeals to me the most.

My phone has a fitness tracker on it, so I've been using it to try to stay up to speed with the number of steps I want to achieve daily. Yesterday, I walked at the mall while my DD was out with friends nearby -- so used my downtime for exercise, woo hoo! And my other little tip is that if I haven't gotten my steps in by the end of the evening, I'll sometimes head for my 24 hour Meijer store. I toss a couple of healthy foods in my cart and walk every aisle of the store. There aren't many people there late at night, and I've gotten some great gift ideas already for the holidays. Multitasking at its best.

Today is a new day! I hope

The past month or so has been stressful for me and I fell back to my old eating patterns. Got on the scale this morning and was up 4 lbs. So back to counting my points (Weight Watchers) this week and more time at the gym. I know exactly where the weight came from so know what to cut back on. More veggies and fish this week, cutting out chips and quesadillas. I will also be back to weighing each morning first thing. Doing that helps keep me on track I've found.

I am down 2lbs this week and am on my first paid day of Noom. I almost cancelled, but put my notice in too late, lol
I do find the little reminders helpful, although I wish they would understand I do intermittent fasting so I don't eat at the normal times others do, and I don't always eat 3 times, sometimes it's just 2
weighing myself every day is a game changer for me so far. I would weigh myself on fridays, party on bad food all weekend, and then hope my efforts during the week were enough for a net loss the next friday. I am up 2 lbs today, but I know that is because I ate a TON of salt yesterday. seeing that increase today has me worried so I am being extra careful. I have to treat food like it's live Ebola virus and weighing myself every day appears to be keeping me somewhat in check.
the little tips and tricks Noom sends me are kind of cheesy, but I think it's helpful to read them, even when I already "know" everything I need to do. logging food is pretty easy and it synchs with my fitbit so it tracks my activity
I don't know that it's really worth the $ (it's expensive) but I have lost weight so far.
