I got to see Twenty One Pilots in concert again this week, and I got to take two of my kids! (And we found FREE parking within 2 blocks of the arena. How cool is that?) We had a great night.

My oldest, 24, is buying his first house next weekend. It is a four bedroom two bath house with a fireplace and he is putting down 1/3 of the price for the downpayment. He went to college for two years and couldn't decide what he wanted to be when he grew up. He still doesn't know, but has a good job and works 12 hours days most days. He's a very hard worker and his boss loves him. I've been enjoying shopping for new stuff for his room and items I know he doesn't know he needs. That's HUGE that he's able to manage this all at such a young age. You must be very proud of him! Financially he's fine, but I think all of the paperwork and things that can go wrong with a house make all of us a little nervous. He's close by (15 minutes) and my husband is gifting him all new appliances from money his grandma left my husband, so that helps a lot.

Okay, this doesn't really fall into the correct category of positivity, but my husband and I came home from furniture shopping today and somehow this little beauty jumped onto our cart. I have wanted one for years, but they seemed really frivolous. Since both of my sons are moving out, we seemed to have a little more room than usual. We also are both retired and work part-time jobs for something to do. It just seemed to make sense. I am calling it my "push present" 24 years later. Maybe more like push the kids out of the house present. It grabs your arms and legs and also gets the bottom of your feet. It kind of qualifies as bondage.

950nancy , I've never seen anything like that I'm assuming there's a remote and massaging mechanism? How are you two going to decide who gets to use it when?!?

950nancy , I've never seen anything like that I'm assuming there's a remote and massaging mechanism? How are you two going to decide who gets to use it when?!? There is a remote with many pre programmable settings or you can set it up do whatever you want. It is also heated. From what I can tell, it does everything but give you a happy ending. :)I am pretty sure that I get first dibs. I work from home, so no problem there. My husband works as a personal trainer, so I can imagine he'll have many nights when he comes home and sinks into it.

Our girls (18 and 19 yo) share a 9 x 9 bedroom. This weekend we emptied our garage into a storage unit and we’re turning into a hangout space for them. It’s coming together and they’re SO happy.
Also, I posted a couple of months ago that my 19 yo dd has a new 29yo boyfriend, and people were being shitty about it.... That’s pretty much stopped, they’ve been dating a couple of months fairly seriously and my D is SO HAPPY. they’re so good for each other.
He spent the entire weekend at our place, helping with the garage while she was at work. ❤️

This time of year I especially struggle, the thought of enduring 6 months of lousy Seattle winter pretty much does me in and ruins autumn for me. However, the last 10 days have been amazing here, and getting out and enjoying the fall colors, relative warmth, and most importantly....NO RAIN helps me quite a bit. Yesterday I took a long walk in our arboretum, both next to the lake and in the wooded areas, and watching it "snow" leaves just made me stop, pause, and be thankful for the day. Why can't it be like this every day?!? What positive things have you experienced recently? Care to share? Oh, and I posted a short vide on my IG (it's the second post back) if you wanna enjoy the leaf snow too www.instagram.com/lmhartman/It has been absolutely beautiful here and I too am dreading the rain when it really starts. We still live in the most beautiful state in the country though (IMO ) and I’m always grateful for that, despite the lousy weather sometimes. Positivity - My husband and I have had some rough years lately, and it’s mainly been because of me and some issues I’ve been dealing with about my past and the choices I’ve made, including who I married and why. He’s a really good man though who has stuck by me when he had reasons not to, and I need to recognize how lucky I am and not throw 24 years of marriage away without giving it more of a chance. The fact that he’s been in Afghanistan for 18 months and I haven’t seen him in a year doesn’t help. But I’m feeling much more positive about our marriage and our future these days. We’re currently planning a week-long trip to Orlando and Disney World for just him and me, in January for my 50th birthday. We haven’t had a vacation without kids in over 20 years, and I’m really looking forward to it. So far he’s handled all the details, since he has a lot more down time than I do, and I’m really happy with the plans he’s made. I hoping this will be the start of a new beginning for us .

Every now and again I consider a dog (11pm walks on a rainy, 35 degree December night stops me every time), and would love a walk like that. If I lived in your neighborhood, I'd be *that* woman who stops and pets your dog every time No walks at 11:00 pm here, winter or summer! Usually I do the morning walk and my dh does the evening walk. He takes her out at 8:00 right after "Jeopardy" is over, unless it's in the middle of summer and blazing hot...then he might wait till later. When he travels though I have to do both walks. He's in Kazakhstan at the moment which means I do the evening walk by 5:00. Then we do a quick potty break around 10:00, which my dog is just as happy to do quickly also because she wants to go to bed. lol. I don't walk late because I watch "Criminal Minds" and I know what happens to people out there. Dd dancing to positoovity from The Little Mermaid. What does your dh do in Kazakhstan? Does he bring you anything back?

My middle son is a college Sophomore. He just got accepted into the nursing program for Spring semester. He's also on the Men's Basketball team and their 1st game is this Thursday. Youngest son's HS football team is still undefeated and headed to the 3rd round playoff game. Lots of games and lots of fun for us!

My husband held my hand the entire time we walked at the gym this morning. This is pretty common. We've been married 10 years.

So I love the movie Hocus Pocus. My Mom & I always watch it, and scream out "Sisters!" LOL... So, my little one is 9. She is on the spectrum. She sat down and watched it with us tonight, and she LOVED it. She screamed out the "Sisters" part with us, and just laughed... After it went off she got tears...and said she loved it. Then asked if we could put it on her iPad. LOLOLOL! I just love that she liked it, and thinks it is funny like we do...sometimes she gets overwhelmed with her emotions...so for her to really love being in here, and laugh, and look at us frequently to see if we were loving it too, means a lot. I will watch this entire movie just to hear the line - "Amuck, amuck, amuck!"

Tmw w/any luck I'm going to buy the new mixer I really want. It's baking season and I'm super excited. That's my positive. Anytime I can fatten up the neighborhood it's a good day indeed. Hah ds20 is on a baking kick. He said it’s going to be a fat Christmas. 😂 enjoy your new mixer!

Loving all of these stories! #1 - I’m friendly with the mom of one of ds13’s classmates. Well I’m friendly with quite a few but this one is so sweet. I just love her. Anyway she and her husband own a cofffee shop in the city. They’ve given me coffee at the holidays before but I don’t drink it. I used to love hot chocolate. Still do, but trying not to drink it as much. They gave me this amazing homemade blueberry banana hot chocolate when I was on whole 30. This week out of the blue she texted me. “What kind of tea do you like?” Just because, she sent me this amazing loose leaf tea, plus tea bags, in pumpkin spice. Yummmm. So thoughtful. #2 - Wednesday I’m going to see Big Daddy Weave in concert! Very excited. Their song “If I told you my story” is MY story. I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for 3 years. youtu.be/1TKAN-nAsu8

I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for 3 years. youtu.be/1TKAN-nAsu8I've never hear them -- that's a truly wonderful song! Enjoy the concert!!! The concert was last night. First, here was my fb post from earlier in the day that explains why it’s so special to me. *** Our story was never about cancer. It was, and is, and always will be about the faithfulness of God. It was 2015. Maybe a few months after Fred died. My girl L and I were on the phone together. Processing. Praying. Talking about life, death, and what God can do with our suffering when we let him. It was a conversation I will never forget. How will he use our story to tell his story? And I told her this: “Our story was never about cancer. It’s about the faithfulness of God.” I left that conversation all filled up. I started singing, “this is my story, this is my song... praising my Savior all the day long.” The very next day, I heard this song on the radio for the first time while I was trying to get Logan ready for bed. It stopped me in my tracks. It was our conversation set to music! Big Daddy Weave doesn’t know it, but they wrote that song for me. Tonight. Tonight I get to hear it live. I get to worship my faithful God together with my friends and a couple hundred other Jesus lovers. *** The concert was amazing! But afterwards, friends of mine who I didn’t know were even at the concert came up and gave us their meet n greet tickets so we could get a picture with them. I felt funny but one of the friends I was with went with me to make sure I took advantage of the opportunity. Other friends were ahead of us in line. They were involved on the daily when Fred was sick. The song came out maybe 2 weeks after he died. The husband always said the song reminded him of Fred. So he comes up and tells me he shared briefly about fred and that I should say something when it’s my turn bc they got teary listening. “I told them his wife is here.” I don’t know how he managed to say all that. There was really no time to say anything but I just said “God gave you that song for me.” It was a great night.

We had a tornado in my town (in MA!) and it was less than 1/8th of a mile from me. No damage to property other than trees coming down and thankfully no one was hurt. Too close for comfort and hope to never go through that again.

You all know how I've been dealing with chronic migraines since June of 2017? Well I just tried a new preventive called Aimovig. It's an injection that I give myself once a month. I'm on week 3 and so far I've had only 4 migraines and 16 migraine free days! That is such a huge improvement for me! Before I tried this I was having migraines every other day or even every day. I am so darn happy I could bust out dancing.
There are now 2 other medications on the market like this (they are brand new medications that target areas of the brain) and from the studies that I've read Aimovig helps 50% of the patients who try it. I'm so thankful I'm on of the ones that responded successfully to it. Now I can get back to my life and not just sit here and let it pass me by.

I'm CONSTANTLY talking about the rough road I've been facing for about a year now. There have been times with smiles and happy, loving times in there............
A HAPPY moment happened the other day when I won 4 tickets to see Sir Elton John in NY on 11/16/19. Unreal!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got the pre-sale tickets since I've been a fanclub member since the 1970's.... My sis paid for it which makes it all better. As soon as DH realized how much the tickets will soon go for, he said, "Hey, we could stand outside the venue and charge a few thousand per ticket!" NO!!! I can't wait to go and to have him see Elton.
Great news for a change. Now if we could both be healthy and make it to NY in a year, things will be GREAT.
Oh my gosh I am so happy for you! You deserve it after all you have been through. If there is any way you can make it to NY on 11/16/19 do it! I saw him here recently for his farewell tour and he was incredible! I've been a fan since I was 15, his was the first LP I bought but somehow through all of the concerts I've been to, through all of the years I never made it to his. When he announced his farewell tour I knew I had to go. I went alone (which I don't mind-I do that a lot) and it was one of my most favorite concerts ever. He played for 2 hours and 45 minutes straight!

On Oct. 5, I had surgery to repair the meniscus in my right knee. Before surgery, the children's pastor at my church came up to me and told me that during several children events, my 7 year old niece had requested prayers for me. The pastor became concerned and asked MIL what was going on with me. The pastor told me, "I just want you to know that Amber is making sure you are covered in prayer".
