Oh yes. When I was a kid my parents watched it, which meant I watched it too. Or at least heard it in the background while I was doing something on my own. They really enjoyed the music plus comedy shows. Hee Haw and Sonny and Cher were their favorites.

I don’t know this show at all, nor the song to induce an ear worm. I did however want to say that in Central Scotland "heehaw" means "nothing" and it always makes me laugh when I hear it. Example: "I got heehaw for my birthday this year". Or "stop looking at the cakes, you’re getting heehaw". Ok, you can go back on topic again!

I Love that show! Watched your video and laughed the whole way through! We also grew up with three channels and PBS! Brings back so many good memories of my parents! Thanks! Now see, it was even less channels than I thought. I thought we had 5 channels back then. vpohlman remembers it as 3 channels plus PBS-she's probably right-my memory isn't the greatest. Which reminds me about what my mom used to do when we kids (I'm the eldest of 4) would sit watching TV in the afternoons. She'd walk by and on her way past the TV she'd switch the channel to PBS and pull out the knob, dropping it into her pocket and taking it with her. Looking back I think what a clever mother to do that.

This brings back memories! My grandparents were big Hee Haw fans so I'd watch when I was at their house, which was pretty often.
And now I have Gloom, Despair and Agony stuck in my head...

Dueling Banjos!!
I did love these TV shows as a kid, even though we DID only have three (or four, lol) channels. And I literally LOL'ed at 'wunnerful, wunnerful...'

We had three because we lived out of town (ABC, CBS and PBS). Folk in town could also get NBC, but our rabbit ears didn't pick that one up. I was always envious of my in town friends because they could watch The Facts of Life and I couldn't. My mom allowed us 1 hour of TV a week, except PBS...we could watch as much of that as we wanted). Luckily, I could watch my sister's hour and she could watch mine...so we pooled our resources. When we were old enough to come home alone after school and stay home alone during the summers we would watch a ton more because she wasn't there to police us. :-)

I immediately thought of I'm a pickin' and I'm a grinin'
My parents only listened to country music. Of course we watched Heehaw! We also only had four channels growing up, but it wasn't until the 90's we could even get cable.

So, I waited until we were in the car to torture dh with the ear worm. He looked at me like this and under his breath said, "Wait until you are asleep tonight." About an hour later I heard him humming it. Lol.

My dad used to put it on after dinner, and he'd fall asleep in front of the TV. I just. did. not. understand. LOL! I was too young to understand the humor, I think.
And I learned something today. I had always thought it was "DOOM, despair, and agony on me!"

this video reminds me that when we watched this show when I was little, I thought Buck Owens was very handsome. (I was a fan of the bowl hairstyle, I guess... ?? lol.)

I actually liked that and petticoat junction.
Growing up we had channels 2 ( CBS ) 4 ( NBC ) 5 ( WNYW which later became FOX ) & 7 ( ABC ) sometimes, and only sometimes we’d have channel 9 (WOR ) & 13 ( pbs )
Channel 9 had the infamous romper room on. I loved that show!

I have a very unusual name, and have never met anyone else with it, so it was never going to happen. Of course little me didn't know that.

My dad loved this show - Hee Haw and 60 Minutes were the only 2 shows he would watch. My cousins had Hee Haw overalls and wore them all the time

My grandparents, northeastern intellectual liberals, LOVED Hee-Haw. To this day, I don't understand the appeal for them: they weren't country music aficionados; they didn't have any kind of cultural connection to it - they just loved it. They watched it every Sunday night. So, yes, I'm very familiar with it. And now I'm going to be thinking about Roy Clark and Buck Owens all day, lol.

Hee and haw are left and right if you are driving a team of horses/mules/oxen. So I guess putting the 2 words together would mean nothing! Ya is go/straight.

Now I have this stuck in my head! We did watch this show--I think I remember it being the only thing that was on at 7:00 on Saturday nights, on the five or so channels we had at the time. At least, that's what I recall. I'd forgotten all about it.
We used to watch Lawrence Welk with my Grandma, too! She never missed it.

Even though I don't care for country music, I actually still have a small soft spot for Buck Owens music. He had kind of a rockabilly sound which I do like, so maybe that's the appeal. His music is kind of hokey but fun.
