anyone get eczema on your eyelids? I used some eye cream that I (mistakenly)thought didn't have any retinoids in it, and it did, so now my eyelids are all inflamed and jacked up
any eye creams that work really well on eczema on the eyelids, specifically?

I had eczema on my eyebrows a few years ago. Apparently I was reacting to the oil of Olay I had been using for years. My dermatologist recommended a few things that didn’t work at all. So then I tried THIS eye cream from LaRoche Posay. It’s pricey, but it worked like a charm. The exzema was gone in no time—like 24 hours. I still use it, along with the gentle face wash and face moisturizer. My skin has never looked better (for a—ahem, woman of a certain age).

I don't know if it was actually eczema or not but I used a new eye cream from Ole Henriksen that caused my eyelid to turn red and hurt. It made my eyelid had a rough patch on it. Once I figured out what was going on, my friend recommended putting Coconut oil on my eye lid and it cleared up in a day or so.

I had eczema on my eyelids several years ago. I can’t remember what I used. I would say to try a gentle moisturizer without fragrance. Since it is a reaction from another product hopefully it will heal and be gone quickly.

I did several years ago and saw my dermatologist about it. They gave me a sample cream and it cleared it right up. It was perescription strength (and of course I don't remeber the name). They also recommended I change to Cetaphil products and after I did, I didn't have any more issues around my eyes or on my eyelid.

OH MY GOSH!!! I DID! I had completely forgotten about that!
It's been so long I can't remember what I used but I know it was a prescription and was in a tiny little tube.
I'm sorry you're dealing with it.
Crazy what we forget, and the "phases" our bodies go through.

Are you sure it is eczema? I ask because I was having a similar problem about 2 months ago and thought I had eczema on my eyelids and ears - I went to the dermatologist and as it turns out, I had psoriasis - she gave me a prescription for some cream and it cleared it up in about a week. It does come back from time to time but since I have the cream, I can catch it early and clear it up in a day or two.
If you aren't sure, you should go to a dermatologist to have them check it out and give you something that will help clear it up.

Elidel is gentle enough for eyelids, but it is a prescription cream. It's non-steroidal. Whatever you do, do NOT use hydrocortisone cream on your face. I learned that the hard way. You might end up with an even more terrible condition called peri-oral dermatitis.

I ended up with peri-oral-disease when I used cortisone cream on the area around my mouth. I was trying to treat a reaction to a mask I tried to use. I ended up in the Dermotogist’s office getting the correct cream.

I did. My eye dr prescribed an ointment that took care of it pretty quick. My dermatologist at that time wouldn’t prescribe anything topical near the eye so he told me to put oatmeal in a clean handkerchief soak in warm water and let it sit on my eye twice a day. It did help but the ointment from the eye dr was so much father.

Don't assume is it eczema. I developed a rash in random areas of my face. One area was on my eye lid and I got swelling and itching. I had to switch to CeraVae products and use no make-up for a week. Long story short, I developed an irritation to Lancome products. Also my husband has a condition where his eyelids are always irratated. He has to use a prescription creme to clear it up.

Who can get an appointment at a dermatologist? It's impossible here. I went to my eye doctor. He thinks it's allergies. I have no idea. But what I love is that Peas are going through it with me!

Yes!!! And it's miserable, and in my case, pretty much chronic. My lids are cracked right now, and so sore. I have an otic solution (not optic) that my family doc has given me for the itching within my ears and I'm also to use it on my eyelids. I believe it's a mixture of alcohol and vinegar. My doc loved to tell me I was going to smell like a salad whenever I used it. By the way, I have also used the cleansing pads (Ocusoft Cleansing Pads) and sometimes those help. So sorry you're going through this. I sympathize!

Yes I've had it a few times, and it sucks. My doctor prescribed me elidel and it worked well, plus you need a moisturizer with extremely limited and non-irritating ingredients. I'm still looking for the perfect moisturizer but some options are vaniclear, LRP toleriane fluid ultra, bioderma sensiblio, or avene tolerance. I like cerave moisturizer in general but I can't use it when I have an eczema outbreak - it immediately turns my skin red.

I have gotten this a few times over the years-usually its because I forget and touch my eyelids after applying Retin A to the rest of my face, or if my eyelids get irritated and it's really dry out thanks for all the suggestions!!

What is more likely in my (nonexpert but fairly well read on this subject) opinion is that you developed blepharitis. That's just inflammation of the eyelids, but it can be caused by the use of retinoids even on other parts of your face. I get it from time to time, and it sucks - for me, first it gets sore and red and a bit puffy, then the swelling mostly goes down but leaves me with peeling nasty skin. It looks very much like eczema, at least for me, and that's actually what I originally thought it was.
The common OTC treatment is to use warm compresses and an eyelid scrub like Ocusoft. It results usually from the blocking of your Meiobian (sp) glands in your eyelid - if you have dry or somewhat dry eyes, then this is almost for sure related. When I use retinoids now, I leave a large space around my eyes (larger than I leave in general for a cream that I'm not using near my eyes). I also have found that I seem to be allergic or at least sensitive to eye primers that contain certain compounds like bismuth oxychloride.

Google “eczema and pillows”. An article came across the newspaper or online recently and they say to wash pillows and pillowcases more often and be careful of the detergent and use no fabric softener. Oops, somehow I just noticed this was an old thread brought up today.

My eyelid got red, itchy and puffy. I had a thing called blepharitis. My neighbor works for my eye dr so she brought me some eye drops. But also said to wash eyes with Johnson’s baby shampoo. That was a big help. And an easy fix.
