I've always had blinds in every house so never had curtains. We are finally to the point of doing window dressings (to help keep the heat in) so we are going with curtains instead. (I hate hate hate blinds they are a pain to clean lol).
I'm having problems figuring out what color curtains to put in my rooms. So far I only have curtains in my craft room which is a lime green wall color with dark purple curtains. (I'm doing a Joker theme in there).
So far we need curtains in our:
Kitchen, Red walls, walnut colored cabinets/floor, white backsplash with brown glass/stone accents, white trim. Living room, Chocolate brown walls, walnut colored floor, white trim. Bathroom, Royal Blue walls, yellow and white accents, White trim Mudroom, dove grey walls, white trim this room opens up to our red kitchen.
Other rooms aren't painted yet or don't have windows. Any help would be great. I tend to go with dark/bold colors, SO likes muted colors (which is why we did grey in the mudroom/hallway lol)

I think a dark brown/espresso would look good everywhere but the bathroom.
For as much as curtains cost, this color will go with a lot of paint colors, not show dirt, and you can use for years.

I'd go with a neutral cream/white that looks good with the trim throughout. It sounds like you like bold wall color, and adding bold curtains on top of that is going to be *loud.* It sounds like you love that, but your SO prefers more neutral, so keeping the curtains consistent and fairly calm will help your SO feel like it's toned down a little bit. It also is more flexible if you change wall colors in the future, and provides continuity from room to room. You'll want something heavy/lined if you're going for heat retention, so they may be a little more pricey than off-the-shelf store curtains - all the more reason to stick with something neutral.
