I've looked around on Amazon at them, but since they are pricey i'm looking for some personal experiences and which ones/brands you would recommend.
I want to make sure that I buy one that will last, hold up well and is easy to wash. Any info would be appreciated.

I don't have any experience with weighted blankets, but I just wanted to say that in one of my emails from Target I noticed that they have them.

Thank you, OP, for this thread, and thanks to those who posted suggestions.
My dd needs one for anxiety disorder, but it's hard to know what to get.

I've had my eye on this one at Target. It has microbeads and has great reviews. The only thing is that it only has 3 weight sizes. My hubby is more for me buying this one because if it is to heavy or just not right, I can return it to Target. Jennifer

I saw one advertised in a Sleep Number flyer recently and I want to say it was about $150 on sale? More expensive than what I would normally just drop for something like that, but not so expensive it would be out of the question. I think the list price on it is $199 but they always have coupons or sales. Select Comfort

My mom bought one for my 17 yo DD for her birthday. DD has insomnia and she said she has never slept better. She said she doesn't wake up near as much and falls asleep much easier. I can't help you with what brand, mom bought it on Amazon but I know it was around $100. You can't wash the actual blanket but it comes with a cover that is washable.

Jennifer IIRC, Select Comfort has a pretty decent warranty on all their stuff, so if you weren’t happy with it I’m sure they would take it back. If I was going to get one of these, (and the more I read about them the more I want one because I’m such a light, restless sleeper) I would get a washable duvet cover to put it in so I wouldn’t have to wash it. I don’t think my washer and dryer could handle something that big and heavy.

They are pricey, but those I've talked to that have anxiety say they are lifesavers.

I made one. At some point in the process, it took dh to lift it up onto my sewing table to be able to keep sewing the "lanes" or baffles and then stuff them.
While it was much cheaper, I think I would buy one, in spite of the cost. I also made a cover for it so that's what gets washed.
I still find the little beads in the carpet...

Check out the Kohl's black friday sale on weighted blankets. I think it's $60 plus Kohls cash.

I am getting one from Amazon delivered today. I've been struggling big time with insomnia, so I'll try to remember to report back tomorrow after I've tested it out!

I figured, returning it would be easy if I don’t like it. It was around $90 I love it. I keep it on top of my comforter/blanket so I haven’t thought of washing it yet. It defiyfeels heavy and keeps me from moving too much at night which in turn is helping me sleep better. I have restless legs and so this has been very beneficial.

Frankly it is hideous, but I plan on using it only at night and then keeping it under my regular comforter when I make my bed. I gave it a test run and I really like it. I think it's going to help!

I ordered one from this seller on etsy: www.etsy.com/shop/RedBarnBlankets?ref=l2-shopheader-nameI have a lap sized blanket that I use and I love it. I think it is a 12 pound blanket. It helps with my restless legs, insomnia, and anxiety. I am getting ready to order another one for my son. I love that I could pick out my colors and fabric. I have washed it several times and it looks great still.

Thanks for replying. The one you got also comes in ivory. Frankly, the color really shouldn’t matter one bit - if I could get a decent nights’ sleep. Now I’ll be up all night contemplating on which one. 😳

We have the Gravity Blankets. The original ones we bought as part of the Kickstarter campaign. I think those were 20lb ones. And then when they originally came out with the Gravity Cooling Blankets we each got a 25 lb one. They are amazing. I have always liked having heavy blankets, but these are just incredible. I sleep so much better under it! They are worth every single penny.

I havent read all the replies, or anything with this thread((I will come back to it!!) I'm just on a time crunch but wanted to post. When I was a kid I had a blanket that was super heavy I LOVED this blanket, used it for years. When my dad married my step mom she HATED this blanket tried multiple times to get me to get rid of it, I literally was afraid she'd throw it away while I wasn't looking so it started just living in MY room year around lol.. Anyway. she did finally toss it when I got married but as it turns out it was a packing blanket for furniture moving. I've been meaning for a while now to check out lowes/home depot and see if they have them and how heavy they are but I never remember to do it, I have looked online but I need to hold one. Just a heads up for anyone as it may be a cheaper alternative way. It wasn't the most attractive blanket(I kept it in the middle of a sheet/bedspread etc so it wasnt really visable), and I'd say they aren't made the same as they used to be, so may not be as great as the one I had was which is why I want to hold one vs just buying it online.

I believe you can buy them new at U-Haul!
