What is up with all the rugs? It looks like it was a commercial space for sure. So odd.

In the picture of the dining room table, the sixth pic, are those extension cords or something going across the back wall? I like the little garden area in front of the lagoon and love the lagoon itself. In the very last aerial photo it looks like there might be a waterfall feature to the right. The rugs are weird though. I would love an indoor pool but could never have kids in that house. I also don’t like the lighting in the kitchen with all those tracks on the ceiling.

OP ~ I’m glad that you finally got to see the inside of this house. When I notice a for sale sign on a house that I’m curious about, I about break my neck looking up the listing ! Lots of times it’s not at all what you thought it would look like.

It seems to me if you are going to stage a property that expensive for real estate photographs, you would : - remove plastic trash cans from being front & center of master bedroom photos - actually make the beds; not just a lumpy attempt at throwing the covers up - put actual decorative linens on the beds and not basic pillowcases - not have the bare box springs showing in the master bedroom and remove the unsightly cardboard box sticking out from under the bed - what's with the weird row of potted plants out front? and is that a hose or a cord all strewn about the front entrance? - there's a spray bottle of insecticide or plant food next to the pool I'll stop now, but really? I was thinking of the same thing.

Can you imagine heating that cavernous space? From the looks of it, there is no ceiling insulation at all! The patchwork of rugs made me twitch and the overall feel is too aircraft hanger/recreation center for my taste, but the attic storage space is awesome.

OMG, we have some weird-ass homes on the market around here right now. This is a whole lot of look. It's a pretty sweet home gym, but other than that... I'll pass. A little too medieval for my taste, but I really laughed at the placement on the dart board on the upper level. Any wayward darts could end up embedded in someone enjoying The Oasis below.

No no no. Horrible location. I still think the house is hideous, but the location is not as bad as it looks. On the video, you can tell that you can't see the highway at all from the house or yard. I drove by it today out of curiosity and there's one of those sound-reducing walls between the yard on the highway - and the house is set further away from it than it appears in the pictures. And it is a very convenient location to get into downtown Portland. I mean, if I were buying a $4.5 million home and wanted access to Portland, I'd buy a penthouse condo downtown. But if I wanted small acreage and still be close, this isn't so bad. But I still hate the house lol.

That's a good description from the movie Big. I think it would fun living there except the proximity to a two lane highway. Also, with it being Portland, how much use do you get out of a Lagoon? I'd rather have lots of trees.

I sometimes wonder what happened in their lives when a fairly new EXPENSIVE home is listed. All I can think of is death, bankruptcy, divorce, or some other bad thing.

I googled and it looks like they've been trying to sell this since 2015. www.oregonlive.com/front-porch/index.ssf/2015/03/germantown_road_castle_goes_on.html The property history on Redfin shows lots of listing and delisting, but no sales. I can't imagine either of these will sell anywhere close to their listing prices. They are far too specific.

Wow, the price reductions! The price they had on it in 2015 was $7,175,000. I dunno about there, but here in Seattle the market has chilled. I wish them luck. I live in an area of $1.5M-$10M homes (to be clear, I have a condo, not a multi-million dollar home). They are sitting right now.

But people here looking to drop $4 million or more on a home are most likely going to buy something in the hills to the west with Portland with panoramic views of Portland and Mt Hood or something lakeview or maybe lakefront (might be too expensive) in Lake Oswego. And they're most likely going to go with super modern or historic. Neither of these monstrosities without views.

However, my friend lives near the latter, so I might pack up my dog and do a casual walk by.

I'd rather have lots of trees. It would be fun to have a mini submarine. Didn't they used to have something like that in the Hammacher Schlemmer catalog? Or, it would be nice for the neighborhood nutria in the off season

Wow, that whole mess is awful. I agree with the poster who said it looks like someone's first attempt at The Sims. And the one who likened it to a hangar.

I love the grounds, the house style and the inside as well!!!
