The dream where my mom told me to get something checked out? I thought it was for me. But apparently it wasn't. It was for my dad. About the same time I had my dream, my dad found a lump in his arm pit. He showed the doctor but the doctor wrote it off as a side effect of some medicine he was taking. Turns out, it was Breast Cancer. In my dad. Who knew guys could actually get cancer? Especially guys who have no history of breast cancer. (ok, I knew guys could get breast cancer, but I never met a guy with it. Turns out, like 2500 guys a year get it. Who knew? Not me). Anyway, its stage 3 and has spread to his lymph nodes. So, mystery solved. My mom (in my dream) wasn't trying to save me. She was trying to save my dad. Moral of the story -if your guy has a lump, get it checked out. And don't assume its just related to medicine. Because it might not be.

My DH had a good friend that had male breast cancer. His was much further along than your dad's. I have also seen men at my cancer clinic. One was fairly young. I would guess late 20s to early 30s.
I'm so sorry you having to deal with this (((hugs)))

I guess I read online (here, probably) about guys getting it but never knew anyone. Guess I am a sort of shock that it really happens.

I’m sorry. It still gives me goosebumps to think about your dream. Did you have any that were about your dad close to that one? I am glad they caught it and I hope his treatment is as easy as possible on him and that he is better before you know it.

A dear friend's dad and sister both had Breast Cancer before she was diagnosed. They went through some testing also...she unfortunately died but her dad and sister are fine after treatment.

First - I wish your Dad well and the treatment takes care of everything. Thank goodness he got checked out. One of the male characters on the show A Million Little Things is dealing with breast cancer and I like how it is raising awareness of breast cancer in men.
My brother thought he might have had breast cancer many years ago and went to the doctor for a lump. After checking him out it was determined that no, he did not have breast cancer BUT it turns out he had testicular cancer. What were the odds of that? His being proactive about one lump ended up saving his life anyhow.

I'm so sorry. I have heard of male breast cancer - a colleague's dad had it.
I hope his treatment is smooth and successful.

Wow! So glad he persisted!
Male breast cancer, as you already know, is quite uncommon. There just are not enough data points but there are some that believe that hereditary genetic mutations may be higher in that population. Something worth discussing as it would have implications for you and other family members. Highly recommended if there is a history of breast cancer or even certain other cancers on his side of the family.

One of the male characters on A Million Little Things has/ had breast cancer. I thought it was a great idea to bring this to everyone’s attention in this way. Wishing your dad the very best.

I very slightly knew of a married couple where BOTH had breast cancer. He got it first. Their youngest son worked as a summer intern where I was working at the time.
I hope your dad has a good recovery.

When my dad was telling his doctor about his family history (2 brothers had prostate cancer before age 50) - the doctor was surprised no one had encouraged my dad to get genetic testing done. Anyway, he is going to get genetic testing and me + my siblings will as well.
