Last year I posted about the fire that destroyed our house. It was a total loss. Your kindness and offers of help were most appreciated. Just wanted to let your know that we rebuilt on the same lot and now have a beautiful new home. While construction was challenging we finally have a finished house and it feels great! We added a second story that has two studio spaces for me and three attic spaces. I basically built a house for all the stuff I lost in the fire! The best news is that the feral cat that slept in our garage has returned. I was able to open the garage door a little bit the night of the fire to let him out (the fire started in the garage attic) and after 13 months, he came home. Working on replacing the quilts I lost in the fire and trying to make scrapbooks again but I'm struggling with that. I had amazing books and loved every minute of making them. That loss is still raw.
Anyway, we are good and working on new family memories in the house. All the kids will be here at Christmas and I have to remember to take lots of photos.

So happy to hear that you are back in your new home and that all of your family will be there for the holidays...those are going to be some sweet memories from your new home.
And also so happy that your cat buddy has come home. My parents have a couple of feral cats that have been around for many years. If I don’t see them when I am home I always ask if they, Fuzz Face and Mama, are okay. They are getting old now so I worry. Even feral animals can become family and part of your heart.

Congratulations on putting your life back in order. Back in 2010, we also suffered a house fire. It was pretty traumatic!

Great update.
I'll bet that feral cat was lurking around and when he saw his people were back, he let you know.
My childhood house burned so I can appreciate your loss of all the photos. All I have left of my childhood photos are a few from aunts/uncles to whom we had sent photos.
