My DH is upset because he saw my DD's picture of one of her drawings she sent to me in an email, Of a naked male. No 'parts' showing but you can tell they r naked.
The class is figure drawing 1 so........ What exactly did he think she was going to be doing? He knew what classes he was paying for. It's a figure, she's drawing it, probably from across the room. What is she supposed to be doing? How could he not have known? What am I missing? SMH

Could he be upset because she emailed to you? I could see my daughters' dad thinking she should be drawing "stick" figures!

How old is she? I assume over 18 if they have nude models? I agree, he should have already known. It's art, I don't know why he'd be upset. It's not porn.

Would he be more upset if he found out she was posing for one of the classes? Because that's what my oldest did his Freshman year, all on his owneeo, telling us after the fact of his newly found 'job'.
Earned a little paycheck though.

She's his "little girl" - maybe he's not ready to deal with her growing up yet and knowing anything about the opposite sex.

My husband probably wouldn't equate naked male with figure drawing. I could see him being shocked once he made the connection!

She's 17. It's a precollege program. This is not the first time she's drawn a nude figure but it's the first time she drawn one live. And she's mostly drawn female figures before. She said girls a easier it's more smooth less angles. I guess the model could have it all tucked up in one of those c string things for men. I can't tell from the angle of the picture. But there are definitely no underwear lines of any kind. The picture BTW is beautiful, it's one of the best I've ever seen my DD draw and it was only a 30 minute one.
I just can't believe he didn't realize. I guess I should have spelled that out for him.
I don't think he's annoyed that she emailed me. She and I always share our art all the time. I think he didn't really think the course title all the way thru and he's having a difficult time with 'his little girl' seeing that. Studying that to draw it. Yea he'd be more comfortable with stick people or figure 8's or something.

My DH said he would totally agree with Dad's thinking. Hilarious!

Dads can be extremely prudish, can't they?

I don't think my DH would connect the dots between live drawing and nakedness either. It's hard to deal with our kids growing up but it seems especially more so for dad with their daughters. good initiative.

Maybe this is why my DD left the facial features vague on a naked self portrait she did. I still knew right away. I don't think DH does. Plus it's only in one of her sketchbooks. Not on display anywhere. I'm not sure if DD would pose for someone else. She's usually pretty modest but who knows what the future brings.

Yeah, it's hard for dads to see their little girls growing up.
Congrats to your daughter for being such a good artist.

My grandma is the one that freaked at my house LOL. She picked up the wrong sketchbook to look through that day. After that incident she always asked if it was ok to look through. She also questioned my parents on the parenting abilities too HA!

Back when she signed up for this I expected him to have an issue and give her a hard time. I was kind if impressed how well he took it. He only asked her twice if that was the class she wanted to apply for. I guess he didn't really realize all that it would entail.
I think he's coming to terms with it, I haven't heard any grumbling for awhile. Lol
