If you're going to upgrade and you keep your phones for a long time (which is sounds like you do), get the most current model. It will last you the longest. The 8 is already a bit dated, tech-wise, and will not be supported by the OS and 3rd party apps for as long as the Xs.

What busy said. If you keep your phones a long time, I would get the latest model.

I did. Love the Face ID, which isn't available with the 8, and the full-size screen. The camera is worlds above the 7 I had before. My husband thought it was silly to upgrade, and kept his. Now, after having my phone for a bit, he admits it was worth it.

I had a 6S and upgraded to the XS about a month ago. I love it. It does take some getting used to without the home button, but I prefer the camera and the water/dust proof over my 6S.

have you looked at the XR? Cheaper than the XS. and bigger than the 8. I just got it and love it. It also comes in cute colors and has a better battery then the X or XS
