"Disneyland absolutely fuels my creative fire, and I would love to share that with you! After a few light-hearted discussions on Facebook, I’ve made a schedule and worked it out to really happen! I’ll be ready with pens and songs and the biggest smile I can find!
We’ll start the day bright and early with a special breakfast together, then hit the Disneyland park with a creativity-driven itinerary. Bring your camera of choice, be it your phone, Polaroid, compact camera, DSLR, or something with film. We’ll be spending a big part of the day gaining confidence both behind and in front of the camera, in my very favourite place to take pictures! That includes daytime photos, golden hour portraits, and some other special subjects. It’s too early to know if there will be a night parade or firework celebration that day, but if there is, we will make the most of it! We’ll also have a very relaxed group photo shoot with a local photographer. After the day, we’ll share all the photos from each of us, so you’ll have plenty of scrapbook gold to remember the day.
I’m also so inspired by Disney history that I’ve arranged a little trivia walk, so I can share some of the little secrets of the park that make me absolutely giddy. (We might have to start with the Monsanto House of the Future, and how it’s still secretly there in the present because it just won’t leave.)...
We can’t have a traditional scrapbooking workshop inside Disneyland park, because scissors and security don’t mix, for starters. But a special kit of scrapbooking supplies is included for you to take home, and you’ll be able to share what you make with the others from the group in our online chat just for everyone attending.
A Day of Creativity is $185, with $100 due on registration and the remaining $85 due any time before the 31st of December 2018. It includes a special table service breakfast, exclusive scrapbooking kit, and all the photographs from the day. It does not include park admission, additional food and drinks, or any hotel you might need. If you are not an annual pass holder and would like assistance booking your tickets, I’m happy to help with that.
Just to clarify, this is at Disneyland in Anaheim, California! If this event goes well and there is interest in something similar at Walt Disney World or Disneyland Paris, we’ll see what we can arrange in the future."
Now that I would spend money on!!!

I'm not a Disney person, but for someone who is, and who likes Shimelle, this would be a dream day!! It sounds like it will be so much fun for the people who attend.

I love that she is trying something new and fun, but that day will really be expensive for people when you add on the extra costs. Plus you'll need to go back the next day with your family to take pictures of people you know. Does she live close to the park or is she coming from England? Her cost to get there could be expensive.

When you add in a one day park ticket and one other meal, it's crossing into $300 for the day not including travel or other expenses. But good for her parlaying two of her passions into this new venture - I am sure she would be fun to hang out with and the small group size would make it easier to get to know other people with such common interests. 950nancy - I am pretty sure she'll be in the states for Creativation which is in mid-January.

I'm down there that weekend and I have an AP. I thought a lot about this. I'd have to extend my trip a day, but my problem is. I don't need a Disneyland photography class. If it had been a scrapbook class I would have been all for it and would have already changed my flights, but I photograph the parks a lot now and don't need more portraits in the parks.

I would have loved to do this but the plane ticket from Toronto Canada to California first kind of nixed it! LOL

I’m about an hour from Disneyland so I thought about it.
$97 admission $20 parking $185 class
That’s $302 not counting food and beverages which tend to be pretty pricey. So I’m looking at about $400. I’m going to pass. That’s a lot of money for me right now and much as I like Shimelle I don’t think I want a photo class. Besides, it I know how I am and I’m guessing that after a few hours I’d get distracted because I’d want to go on the rides. (I love Disneyland).

Yes, if the group size isn't too big, it would be really cool. I just know her for her scrapping and not her photography. Trying to imagine what she will teach them. Love to be following along and hearing what is shared.

I'm hoping the event is successful so she plans another class at Disney World in Orlando. I'll definitely be there if she does!
Considering the cost of similar classes, and the total cost includes theme park admission, I think it's a fair price.

The $185 includes breakfast, a scrapbook kit, digital copies of photos, and lessons on photography of different areas and times of day.

I hope it’s successful, too. I would definitely be interested in a similar class at Disney World in Orlando.

BSideCrafter by total cost I meant class + park admission + food. I understand that park admission is a separate fee.

She was very aware that it was expensive and was very uncomfortable about asking people to spend so much money. (She says she really hates the money part, which is probably why her business is more limited than certain other scrap-celebs). I think she shocked herself by how much she was going to have to charge for the class. I believe there was food included in the package (although I don't know how much - maybe just a character breakfast?) and she was intending it to be for people who were already in the local area, not traveling cross country just for this class. She's also assuming that some people already have an annual pass so that's why admission isn't being included in the price.
The group size is limited top 20, I think, so it should be manageable. She seems to have lots of tips about when and where to find good vantage points, and other Disney "secrets," and all her Disney photography seems really awesome (to me). I like her photography style better than I like her scrapbooking style so I'd sign up for a photo class with her quite happily. (Not much of a Disney person though).
She had talked about hoping to expand the offerings to other Disney parks if the day goes well.
She was already planning this Disney visit as part of another trip - she's not flying from London just to teach a one day class!

This is so tempting. If I was anywhere near California, I would be all in. I love Disney. I think Shimelle would be fun to take a class from. I'm tempted to do it anyway, but I think flights and stuff would make it too expensive for a one day class.

Orlando is a little easier for me to get too. Hopefully it goes well and she does one there.

Disney is my least fav place in the world (I know, I know) so not interested, BUT compared to other scrapbook type events, I think the price is fair. A table service there is not cheap, and I imagine that will help make nice with Disney so that there are not many questions about holding a class inside the park. Also, you get everyone else's pics, so I think there is value in that for a Disney-phile. Maybe some unique ones in there. And people in that area who love Disney that much will prob have the annual pass.

It sounds like a fun event for everyone. What a nice idea. If I was still in Disneyland mode with my kids, I would totally go for it. Shimelle and her sweet, creative personality will make it a memorable day.

If it was Disneyland Paris, I'd definitely go if it fit into my schedule despite knowing the park and all its little details very well. Disney parks and resorts breakfast does not come cheap. And the local photographer Shimelle will be hiring is probably the one who did her Disneyland photo shoot this spring so someone who is very familiar with the surroundings and a great professional to have on hand for this type of improve-your-skills-while-having-fun day. Totally worth the price tag if you ask me.

I got one of the spots! I’m the furthest from local, I’m using it as a much needed Mom getaway! My husband is Disneyed out, I’ve been talking about a solo trip for awhile, so this is perfect! I think Shimelle will provide a great perspective of photography from a scrapbookers view! Combining my love for Disney and scrapbooking, I’m pretty excited. The cost includes a character meal, so the value is pretty good! Also, getting out of the Canadian winter for a few days is pretty sweet too! I’ll report back!
