.... Putting my sons in matching Cars shirts so that I can easily scrap those pics in a Lightening McQueen theme, and use the Cars stickers I bought at a yard sale. .... bribing my kids with food treats to all take a nice pic together. .... buying embellishments first (stickers, or even awesome pp), then buying my kids clothes to match the embellishments. What are you *guilty* of?

Last year at Christmas ..DH opened his gifts I got him and I forgot to take pics (crazy on my part I know!) so I wrapped them up again and made him smile pretty as he was "surprised" opening them...again.
Buying paper pads even though I only like a few sheets.

Buying even more scrap stuff even though there is no way I can use up all of the stuff I have now. I've started scrapping with my class and they are making a tiny, tiny dent in the amount of stuff I have. I've recently taken up knitting and have vowed not to let my new hobby get so out of hand.

...buying too much stuff too! I have in the past posed family photos but not so much anymore. My kids are at the age where it's almost impossible to get a decent family photo. Haha!

I recently started knitting as well and have vowed to not buy yarn until I start a project and to only do one project at a time! So far it's working since all my knitting stuff fits in one bin... then again there isn't a lot of "new gotta have it now or it's gone forever" with knitting

Making my 21 year old son who got a bike for his birthday, ride the bike to 'try it out' and when he protested that he is not a little kid, I told him I have bicycle paper I bought specifically because I knew he was getting a bike and I needed to use it. So I took some pics and scrapped them using my new bicycle papers!

I'm guilty of snapping photos of sneering grumpy face teenagers because a crappy photo is still better than no photo.

making half of my travel albums before we go on the trip and have a mental list of places, sizes, and outfits one should have.
My son wanted to reenact the deodorant commercial where the guy is on the white horse on the beach. He doesn't like to ride. We were in Jamaica and we rode a bus for two hours to ride horses IN the ocean. It still makes me laugh. His horse looked like it was drowning.

When my kids were smaller, putting my family in coordinating color schemed outfits when we go to a family function and for every day of vacations for photos through the day. My side of the family (sister and her family) have actually gotten good at coordinating with us. And joke if one member is out of whack, that "they didn't get the memo." lol
If my kids give me really good pictures, then they get to do silly pictures for the camera.
Scrapbooking that first trip to the ER with my son, even though my husband was horrified and pleaded with me not to. (We had just moved, had high ceilings got low ceilings, and he threw our almost 1 year old boy into the moving ceiling fan. You can imagine his horror now. I checked my son immediately, and knew he was ok. We went to the ER anyway, more for husband's sake. The doctor even joked about doing the same to his child but threw him into an awning outside a restaurant. My husband, 12 years later, still hates to talk about it and feels horrible all over again when it's brought up and is mortified that I scrapbooked it.

Years ago, I purchased Tinker Toy stickers. I had long since packed away my son's set, but I totally dug them out after I discovered I didn't have any photos of him playing with them. I made him play with them and build a structure so I could take pics to use on a layout with the silly stickers!

When my kids were small, I used to coordinate their outfits even on vacations. I have great pictures of the pumpkin patch in their denim overalls when they were 7 or 8. The navy went so well with the orange. I had them trained to take pictures even through their teen years (they are now 19 & 20). I was with my DH on vacation the day my oldest's college started this year. She sent me a first day selfie at from the lightrail stop. I will admit to planning outtings to use up cute embellishments. Like all those anchors? Yeah, I have been on a couple boat trips for the past couple years to use those babies up. I just bought Simple Stories Sweater weather and started planning some fall outtings so I can have some pix to go with it.

Letting "taking the photo" take over the moment. I really don't do that much anymore, though. Years ago, kids set up picnic area along with hammock and all, out back on a hill overlooking our pond, for Mother's Day. (DH "helped" as kids were small). They took me on a 4 wheeler ride and ended up there. My first thought, I'm sorry to admit, was to go get my camera. I almost did. I stopped myself when the kids were like "no, Mom, stay." WTH was I thinking, I thought. Just sit back and enjoy. You sometimes miss the moments/memories when always looking through a viewfinder. I stayed. And I'm so glad I did. I know I would have been too busy taking pics to really enjoy.
And you know what? I made one of my favorite pages ever. After the fact. Later took a photo of the apple tree in bloom then, and used it as a backdrop of the story I typed on a transparency affixed over top.
I still love taking pictures but try not to let it take over. Moral of the story, sometimes let the camera lie.

Duplicating purchases because I forget what I have in my stash. Most recently the AC Christmas phrases roller stamp. I'm going to gift the duplicate to my SIL. lol

...enjoying organizing as much as actually scrapping. ...focusing on the story more than the design. ...preferring neutrals, especially greys, whites, & kraft. ...rarely using non-paper embellishments. ...

I'm going to gift the duplicate to my SIL. lol I have bought the same roll of washi tape THREE TIMES because I didn't know I had it!! Even worse, my duplicates go to my mom...any duplicates we both have go to one of her best friends. And HER best friend has a coworker who is into crafts that we now send extras to. It's a terrible, terrible habit when you duplicate purchases (I've done it a few times unfortunately!) but at least I have several people to share with!

- continuing to purchase stuff, even though I have more than enough to get me thru the next few years - having all my sons' friends know that if they just cooperate (stand still & smile) as soon as they see me come into the yard/room holding my camera that I will go away faster - having scrapped photos I think are hilarious, even though my kids are mortified - having gotten so into taking candids, that I forget to take classic posed shots (which are necessary if you expect everyone to have at least one shot in which they're smiling at the camera) - sometimes enjoying the collecting & organizing as much as the actual craft
oh, so much more . . .

I had just gotten my first camera and was taking tons of pics at my friend's party, but forgot to get one of her opening her gifts. The next morning I had her bring out a few gifts, pull some wrapping paper out of the trash, sat the guests in a circle around her and restaged the whole thing. Foreshadowing of my life as a scrapper! Psssst . . . I do the same thing w/embellishment packs as well as paper pads!

Bursting into tears when my DS and DIL would not just smile for a photo of them with the kids. It's hard enough to get a 5 year old boy to cooperate. Grrr.
On a lighter note, I buy too much stuff!

Just thought of another one: forgetting to buy a water camera. Go ahead and ask me if I have any photos of my oldest surfing in Hawaii (and yes, he surprised us all by being able to not only get up on the board, but ride it all the way in). Go ahead. Ask me.

...dressing my 3 boys in identical outfits so the photos would look better, for, like, every holiday and outing, and every day of every vacation. I finally eased up when DS1 turned 11, to try a preserve a little of his dignity after wearing the same outfits as his 4 year old brother in public. (Now I just "coordinate" and it's much harder. *mope* )
...not just dressing them to match each other, but dressing them to match where we're going to be (mentioned in another thread, I match them to the Disney parks based on how past photos have turned out. Psychotic. But effective!)
...holding on to photos I've printed and want to scrap until I find the perfect line of paper to go with them, sometimes for years.
...hardly using the amazing DSLR my fam got me for Mother's Day, despite the photos being amazing, because the darn thing is so friggin big and the one lens I have hardly zooms. (I feel Uber guilty about this one!)

My heart aches for you a little over this! I would be sad too! They say "if it isn't in the scrapbook, it didn't happen," and to our scrappy hearts there's a little truth to that! Maybe you can find another way to scrap about it, maybe have him write about it or dictate to you what it was like, with a stock photo of the beach or a Hawaii postcard or something?

Thank you for that. It will irk me forever that I let that happen. Whenever I tell people about it, they say things to try to make me feel better, but the truth is I blew it. I do have a piece of paper that is just a picture of a wave. I bought it years & years ago and never found a use for it. When I stumbled across it a few weeks ago, I knew it would be perfect for exactly what you suggested. I rarely get my kids to tell stories in their own words, so this will be a great chance to do just that.
