I was initially speechless when I saw this story. Then  . A gender reveal party started the April 2017 Sawmill Fire in Arizona: and A recent FOI request has resulted in the Forest Service releasing video of the fire starting. |

many many large fires started by people.. esp not properly managing to put out campfires. or illegal campfires. this guy was just stupid. and full of himself.. why can't they just have a backyard party? why do you have to go so over the top as if you are the most special person ever?

Yup, we also had the Huge Rodeo-Chediski in 2002 here in Arizona that was 2 fires that merged into one huge fire. One was started by a seasonal firefighter for the tribal department in hopes of getting hired by the Bureau of Indian affairs for a quick-response fire crew. The other was by a stranded quad runner, trying to signal a news helicopter. It's like, really? We live in the desert, how smart is that?!

AS a Federal employee guess he couldn't get out of paying. Paying $220,000. he got off cheap. He lives there, knows better and he is a border guard, work some OT and pay more!

I had heard he made an initial $100,000 payment and was expected to make monthly installments on the full $8 million. Which no regular person would ever be able to pay off. He's an idiot and I hope he regrets his actions.

Doesn’t shock me. A lot of the bushfires we have in Australia, end up being determined to be deliberately lit. Not accidentally, but deliberate arson. Most fire prone place in the world, and you’ve got a bunch of douchecanoes out there setting fire to it on a semi regular basis. 🤯

He's an idiot and I hope he regrets his actions. His fine is $220,000 total, with $100,000 paid immediately and the remaining $120,000 as $500/month over 20 years. Nowhere near the $8 million, but definitely a monthly reminder of his stupidity. Oh geeze. What a dumbass.
I am one of those grumpy old farts that think the whole gender reveal is just stupid to begin with.
After watching my husband and son put out a cornfield fire this fall - they should have been able to get on that and get it put out. But they must have just stood there.
Tannerite is big around here. Why do men love to blow things up? But I know DH thinks its a hoot. They manage to do it without starting anything on fire though.
