We've had a lot of rain this past week, about 5.5 inches, since the first storm last week.
Today is windy-er than heck. Our power keeps trying to go out. And just now (as I'm typing this!) loud crashes of thunder.
I'm glad I don't have to go out today. Although I do want to go for a walk later.
Stay safe.

We are supposed to get the brunt of the storm later today. The rain and wind hasn’t been bad yet, but they said it is coming.

Yep, rainy and windy here. Just after I turned out the light last night for bed I heard a loud crash. It had a metal thump sound. Went out on the back patio and found a large tree limb crashed down right on top of my BBQer. Of course my DH says, "I hope it didn't get dented". We live among lots of trees so falling limbs is a huge threat.

Would anyone like a 9yo boy who refuses to wear his jacket in this rain and wind because it’s not cool? I just can’t WAIT till he’s 13.

It's been coming down hard since last night. There was some loud thunder right overhead an hour or so ago. Not too windy at the moment. But we discovered over the weekend that the garage door seals at our new house don't seal. So we keep dealing with a lot of water in our garage. So I am spending today trying to find someone to replace the seals. I feel guilty because I really hope the kid's swimming is canceled tonight. The clubhouse is under construction so there isn't a good place to hang out while they are swimming. dd7 has swimming 3:30-4:15 and ds5 has lesson 4:30-5. I will also have ds2 and dd8mos with me. So not sure what we are going to do!

We argued daily on our trip in England because he wanted to wear shorts. Stupid me let him wear them on the plane which is why he had a pair to argue over.

We are at a break in the rain and there is blue sky out there. It's supposed to start up again in a couple of hours with wind in tow.

Last night I felt like I was reliving hurricane Betsy from 1965. We live on a hill and the back of our house is exposed so our bedroom windows get the brunt of any storm. I was amazed that the lighted reindeer DH installed in our front yard were still standing this morning.

Pretty calm here in no CA. Praying the expected heavy rains turn into light rain. The fire areas are under mud slide warnings. ETA: I spoke to soon. The rain is really coming down now! 950nancy. Regarding mudslides, I imagine it was just horrible!

it was a nice thing to wake up to. it was a nice excuse to wear my new water resistant coat. best of all, there appeared to be caution and order on the freeways on my way to work.

I had two that wouldn't wear winter coats with a foot of snow. They weren't cold and didn't I know that kids have special things in their bodies that keep them warmer than adults. I think Snopes would have ranked that statement partly false. I told them I didn't care if they wore them but needed to keep them in the car in case we ended up off of the road somewhere. As adults, they wear coats more often, but they still have a bit of that 9 year old boy in them.

I had thunder and lightning when I first got up this morning. Then the sky cleared, sort of, and now it’s back to a steady moderate rain. Wind hasn’t been that bad.

Its windy and raining here - praying for those in burn areas that they don't have mudslides. I am avoiding going out unless I have to today as people seem to think oh its raining if I drive faster then I will get home sooner instead of being a bit cautious and at least stay close to the speed limit on city streets.

I am also in the burn zone, so really hoping it's not too heavy. One of the fires in my area was a repeat of one a few years ago. The rains that came after caused a big mudslide that took out a bunch of houses.
I just read that they are closing why 1 thru Big Sur where they just got the road reopened from the last big mudslide.

Yeah, teens seem not to have an understanding of appropriate clothing for the weather. My daughter requested a new winter coat and hat. The coat has been laying on the couch and the hat in the closet while she goes to school in a light coat every day. When I nicely remind her she might want to wear her new warm coat and hat, she tells me she can't because it's "too warm".

So far just some light rain here in So Cal, but as usual you would think Armageddon is coming if you watch the news.
I hope it stays light for the sake of everyone in the burn areas.

The rain was hard enough to wake me at 5 AM and it's been pretty steady with heavy bands and wind coming through all morning in coastal North San Diego. It is supposed to clear for a couple hours this afternoon and start up again around 5 PM. SweetieBugs , I hope no more limbs drop. lucyg , CA kids (even ones imported from the PNW) are immune to liquid sunshine. The best I've been able to do is get mine to wear a hoodie. Thinking of everyone in the recent fire areas and hoping you are not hit with mudslides.

I was just in Modesto an hour ago. They have a sign with a the city motto “Water, Wealth, Contentment, Health” and every single time it rains it floods every street corner and intersection. Even the newer areas. Oh the irony!

We were supposed to have the final inspection today on our house in Wawona (Yosemite Nat'l Park).
The inspector went up... there are no rain gutters on the house and the rain has etched a line into a trench on the right side of the house. He wouldn't pass it.
Waiting on the guy who did the actual work on the lot to connect with the inspector to find out what's really being required. A garbled version originally said he was requiring retaining walls. or recompaction. Keeping my fingers crossed it's an easy fix. (Rain gutters have been ordered.)

the skies cleared before lunch so i ventured out of the office. less than 15 minutes later, really strong rain came down and lasted probably minutes before the skies cleared again. i'm hoping for a dry commute home. i might duck out of the office early anyway.

We've been having bouts of rain and sunshine most of the day. No thunder since when I first posted. We never actually lost power just lots of flickering with the strong winds, which have now subsided. We ventured out for lunch and took a drive by our usual beach. The swells were not giant but the ocean was a roaring jumble of dirty waves, debris and foam.
Our latest report says we'll have a day off tomorrow then rain again Saturday.
