My main concern is for all affected by the fires and who are now threatened by mudflows and flooding. Praying for the best!
We've had rain today off and on, and even a wee bit of very rare thunder/lightning. As GiantsFan said, we're also supposed to have a break tomorrow with rain again on Saturday.
Crossing my fingers for friends who are hosting an outdoor holiday party Saturday evening! 50 guests

Oh did the crazy, heavy rain come out of no where. Then the sun played peek a boo. Then super heavy rain. Then hello sun again. Then light rain. Still lightly raining.
Just no crazy wind...but that may come tonight.

Would anyone like a 9yo boy who refuses to wear his jacket in this rain and wind because it’s not cool? I just can’t WAIT till he’s 13. Ha! 13 was the year ds wore shorts during all seasons! Saw a beautiful double rainbow on my way home from work.

I thought it rain was over so I went to Costco to get gas. Gas prices haven't gone down, by the way. As soon as I pulled away, it started raining again. I came home to a big wet dog. I swear that dogs loves the rain. The smaller dog was dry but the rain freaked him out so he decides to take the couch blankets and drag them around the den. Part of the couch was wet because the wet dog decides to sit there. I look outside and One of our downspout extensions came loose and I had to fix it in the pouring rain.
Soooo, I wipe the wet dog down and brush her out. I wash the couch down and dry it with the blow dryer. I throw the blankets in the wash. I had to get out of my soaking clothes anddry my hair. I just now plopped down....with a headache to boot.

We live in one of the burn scar areas and did have mandatory evacuation ordered Wednesday evening. Order lifted early this morning and other than a few road closures, everything is safe and sound.

We were supposed to have the final inspection today on our house in Wawona (Yosemite Nat'l Park). The inspector went up... there are no rain gutters on the house and the rain has etched a line into a trench on the right side of the house. He wouldn't pass it. Waiting on the guy who did the actual work on the lot to connect with the inspector to find out what's really being required. A garbled version originally said he was requiring retaining walls. or recompaction. Keeping my fingers crossed it's an easy fix. (Rain gutters have been ordered.) Martha ugh! Hope it all works out for the best. and papersilly, I Liked your post purely out of sympathy.

So how is everyone surviving the current storm? I've had to clear our patio drains multiple times and I'm watching the pool level as it is rising faster than the overflow can drain the water. Poor DH has been stuck about 5 miles from home for the last hour because of flooded roads.

I have loved it today. I've been just hanging out with my husband and watching the rain. Lately it rarely rains during the day when I can see it. Everything smells so clean and it will get real green next week even though it is winter. I am loving it!

bc2ca we just watched a live video on fb yesterday of a friend that lives in San Diego. He was asking for suggestions on how to drain his pool, because it was to the tippy tippy top and his yard is completely flat and the rain water was just pooling on his patio and not draining, he was super worried about it plus the pool water flooding his house. We were too late watching his video to tell him what to do, but another friend of his was able to instruct him on what to do. It was comical watching him as he walked around the outside of the house saying "where are the drains??? Why would a contractor put in a pool on a completely flat back yard and not put in some drains"? Then a minute later he says "oh good! There's a drain! It's 40 ft from the pool and only 2 inches wide, and there is absolutely no water going into it, but hey there it is!" LOL As he was showing the drain, you could see the gutters on the house overflowing like a waterfall and he was saying "oh ok, that's awesome too". They just bought the house this summer and with this storm he's finding out the things he needs to take care of in regards to drainage and such. He's lived in San Diego his whole life and remembers the good ol' days of when it rained in the winter every year and the San Diego River actually having water in it and not townhouses like it does now, but it's been a long time. I was glad he was having a sense of humor about it all. It could have been a real mess if he hadn't have figured out the pump situation.

The news said we have had about 2" of rain the past 2 days. It may not seem like a lot, but when we average around 9" for the whole year, 2" is quite a bit. We had a little break this morning, but it has been raining ever since this afternoon. It is still coming down right now. jlynnbarth I know where your friend lives. They have floods every time it rains. It is a natural flood basin. Streets close, the parking lot at the mall floods and cars get stranded. I don't know why they allowed developers to build up that area so much.

I was on the road all day today, all the way out to Inglewood, Long Beach and back to the east foothills. Wow, it was really wet! Surface streets and freeways flooded, raging rivers with police cars on bridges watching for trouble, soggy wet homeless encampments. It was an interesting day, to say the least. Luckily, I didn’t have any major traffic incidents, so it only took 2 hours each way. I’m exhausted.
Came back to an office and warehouse with leaky roofs. We had repairs scheduled for the choir room at our church, but they didn’t happen in time and it is completely flooded. Luckily my house is warm and dry.

Michigan here and have to say all the comments are cracking me up Just another day here...the weather can be 90 and then 40 the next day lol. Wind, rain, snow changes by the hour. My son will wear shorts in 20 degrees if I let him. Funny to read when that is my life lol.

katlady ya, it’s ridiculous. I grew up in San Diego. Moved in 2001. When they built those condos in the riverbed before we moved I was flabbergasted. Mission Valley floods every time it rains hard. My parents used to take us down by the town and country to watch the river flow over the golf course a couple days after big rains. I hate to see the day when the weather finally goes back to a more normal cycle where it actually rains more than once or twice a year. Everything built in the riverbed will be completely destroyed. I hope everyone stays safe in the flooded areas throughout Southern Ca.

My DH is down in San Diego for a work convention. Tonight was supposed to be a dinner boat cruise; it ended up being a dinner boat stay-at-the-dock.

I’ve been in Indian Wells for the week...I’ve never seen it rain here like it did yesterday! It got me out of golf so I went to the mall and Trader Joe’s instead. 😉 It’s beautiful and sunny today.

had a 2+ hour commute to work yesterday.
Also found out that Sheila (my Subaru Outback) is a sassy wench. I'm on the 110 freeway in downtown LA and my dashboard flashes "it's been 2 hours since you turned the ignition on".
I was stumped. What does this mean? Does Sheila turn off because she's tired? Is Sheila as done with commuting as I am? I'm taking her to get serviced tomorrow - they may have to wash the sassy off that wench!
Coming to work today was positively blissful - just over an hour (the usual).
My poor friend was on the tarmac at Burbank Airport right after a Southwest plane went off the runway. 9 hours later she finally got to Phoenix (yup, she could have driven faster).
