On the first day of Christmas, my scraproom gave to me

A few days ago, leeny shared some awesome ornaments she created using wood bases.

Here is my response to the challenge. I "made my own" peeloffs, by using 2 sided tape. Included the list of steps I used in the Gallery. I like the effect, and might try it with foils next. glitter ornament card by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

That's a wonderfully textural card grammadee. Sounds a bit complicated for my level of patience though. I'm a lazy crafter! And I really need to take a closer look at leeny's project - it's SO beautiful! I'm intrigued. My family used to have 3 little bird ornaments with real feathers on them. Their feet had wire to twist them onto branches so they perched rather than hanging. We also had a Siamese cat. We had to bungee cord our little fake tree to a side table to prevent the little murderess taking out the whole thing to get to those birds... My favorite ornaments are some crocheted and tatted stars made by friends, some wood veneer cutouts that have a lovely old world style (but were made with lasers, I think), 3 old fashioned Santas/St Nicks that I thrifted, and a Jack Skellington dressed as Sandy Claws who lives on my tree from Halloween all through Christmas (yes, I put up a Halloween tree that becomes a fall/Thanksgiving tree and then a Christmas tree). I like a designer look so my tree is very red and silver. Hubby and I bought some nice shiny + matte silver balls at IKEA when we moved to the US in 2002 and I still love them. Ok, so for my project: I got a new ornamental die and stamp set from Concord and 9th, and I LOVE the dies. They come in multiple pieces, but so far I'm just loving using the whole thing. This morning I tried using it with some of my late MIL's cardstock. One sheet is a matte gold (very unusual, I mistook it for kraft at first, but I have a whole pack of it!) and the other was a random scrap of teal (my favorite color). I ran both through and then inlaid the pieces in the opposite color. A little bit fiddly, but not too bad. And I think the effect is totally worth it. I'm going to give one card to my mother and the other to her sister - equal but different cards, since they live near each other and will compare. Untitled by jo.blackford, on Flickr

grammadee suggested I post this photo here and get some challenge points. I haven’t had it printed yet, but it will definitely be going in my December album along with a story about my GS. These are his “mans” and he thinks the tree needs more lol.

stinkerbelle I've been thinking about a little table top tree for my office for all my nerdy stuff. I do have my desk full of my own 'mans' and womens! Since I work from home I call them my coworkers

A sloth, flamingo and a llama lol! Did you get inspired by all the American Crafts collections this year? Are you sure you don't need and taco and a tiger too? These are his “mans” and he thinks the tree needs more lol. Oh my gosh, that's adorable!

This is my LO for this challenge. It tells the story about how I love the look of all the designer trees that you see in magazines (Pinterest wasn't a thing back in 2006!) but I love my tree with the decorations made by the kids even more, and there will be plenty of time for the perfect tree when the kids have grown up.
I used the 'Christmas Season' kit by Lindsay Jane.
