Just curious if anyone uses a elevation pillow wedge under your mattress, to help with head and sinus elevation? Or any other form (electronic bed/mattress) of elevating your head during sleep, other than the traditional multiple pillows.
I use two pillows and adding an extra pillows for extra head/sinus elevation(sleep halfway sitting up) made my neck hurt. I think because it was a stack and no support in front of the stack (hollow gap). The elevated pillow is a gradual incline, so no gap in neck/back support. Not sure if I am explaining that right.
With my chronic post nasal drip, and a full blown sinus infection this past week.....someone recommended putting a wedge pillow under my mattress to achieve head (and sinus) elevation. The flatter I lay while sleeping, the more nasal/throat congestion I get...it settles there during the nights flatter sleeping. I have a day bed(studio apt), so I only needed to purchase one. So for $20, I figured I'd give it a try.
I bought one yesterday, and slept slightly elevated last night. I liked it, and think I am going to love it. Once I get past the "it's new and different" and not what I am used to stage. Like with everything, sometimes little changes come with a "learning curve, adjustment period, get used to it" stage.
Just wondering if anyone is elevated sleeper? If so, do you have any advice, information, tips, etc...that you could share.

Great idea! DH sleeps on 3 pillows usually, and I've had to sleep practically sitting up during my eye surgery recoveries this year. We have *those* pillows (not for sleep use), and now I'm wondering if we could put them under our mattress for DH to breathe better. Might try it!

I sleep right on the wedge. I don’t put it under the mattress. Its very very comfortable. I bought it when my positional vertigo was bad and I couldn’t lay down flat. That has mostly gone away but I still use the wedge. Its great for side sleepers, makes it easy to snuggle up.

For a long time I was sleeping in a recliner to keep my upper body elevated, which primarily helped both my back and hips but had the added benefit of helping me breathe easier. We just recently purchased an adjustable Sleep Number bed which basically can do the same thing. It takes a bit to get used to sleeping elevated, especially since my body still wants to turn at night, but I know I sleep much better and wake pretty much pain-free sleeping like this. I have to sleep in a flat bed during those times we travel, and it hurts. Maybe they make a travel wedge, I’d definitely get one of those .

I have a wedge I use for reflux - it goes on top of the mattress rather than under. It was the cheap one from amazon and it works really well - I only chose the 7” high one but it has really helped the reflux, so would probably work for a post nasal drip www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004X7BBC2?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title ETA - I put my regular pillows on top of it, it just tilts my torso up

I am considering getting this side sleeper wedge pillow for DH. He has the same post nasal issues. Right now he starts out in bed, then moves to either his recliner or his zero gravity chair. All that snoring and getting in/out of bed has me exhausted. I have decided to fight back with the new Bose Sleepbuds. Hoping that blocks the sound out enough for me to get a good night's rest.

Then, before my mastectomy, we splurged on a split king adjustable base with 2 twin XL mattresses on it. It came while I was in the hospital. We’ve had it for 7.5 months now and I love it more than anyone should love a bed. I can adjust my head and/or feet levels with the press of a button.

I just automatically put it under the mattress, because that's where I figured it would be placed. I am going to trying placing it right under me, and I will try placing it under my memory foam mattress topper. Then determine which way works best for me. Thanks!

We bought an adjustable bed a few years ago, hoping it would help with reflux and other issues. Now that my husband has an esophageal stent, he has to always sleep/lie with his upper body raised.
The tricky part is finding what is comfortable but does the job without causing muscle strain or other aches and pains. Raising the foot of the bed some can help keep you from sliding down on the bed or the wedge.

We've used a wedge under our mattress for years. It is made out of wood that hubby built just for that purpose. It really helps with acid reflux. When traveling, we take the pillows the hotel provides and put under the head of the mattress to achieve the same effect as we bring our own pillows.

Yes, I sleep on a wedge set and have for a number of years. I initially purchased it after my neck surgery. It was a little strange to sleep sitting up, but the first set I purchased was no where near as comfortable and adjustable as the setup that I use now. This is what I currently have: www.amazon.com/Avana-Orthopedic-Support-Comfort-Complete/dp/B00JMN5CK4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1543912291&sr=8-4&keywords=Pillow+wedge+setI have sleep apnea, asthma, and then the constant back and neck pain on top of that. I was miserable. The set is so nice since I can alter how high or low I want to lay and whether or not to use the knee pillow. I do have a different cervical pillow that I bought at Relax the Back that fully supports my neck and helps to keep my neck in a good position. My pain is greatly reduced when using these pillows. Oh, and if anyone is considering these, do not get the same set with the bamboo covering. I had that prior to my current set and the fabric became thin to translucent in no time. I was washing the covers weekly with my other bedding and they did not hold up at all. I have decided I will be making pillowcases for the main back and knee pillows that I can keep washed without having to wash the main covers. Until I get them made, I have been pinning a spare flat sheet over the back portion and knee support. It works well, but looks tacky which is why I plan to sew custom sheets for the two sections. I made several covers for the small round cervical pillow that I use and it is so much easier to slip it off for washing than unzipping the provided cover. I do still wash the zipped covers, but only like twice a year now which keeps them looking like the day I bought them. I do not put this under my mattress, it sits right on top of the bed. I use the leg pillow while reading or watching Netflix and then I remove it from the bed to sleep. I just ordered a new FitBit and it provides sleep information. I’ve only had it for a few days, but the quality of my sleep while elevated is so much better than it was prior to the pillow set as provided by my previous monitor. And I am not having any apnea episodes anymore, which I can only assume is due to the elevation of my head too.

The Liberator brand was usually sold in porn stores. They are used to help with positioning. I'm sure you could look up that brand and get more info.

A funny story: Since I know what the brand Liberator pillows look like, I noticed that 2 toddlers I Nanny for were playing on them, using them to run up and down on, etc., and I said to the mom, "Now that's smart to get even more use out of those pillows!" Some pillows had handles and they have elaborate covers on them, depending on which ones you get, but now I see that besides using them for 'positions', you could use them to entertain children or use them for comfort in bed. Who knew?

First night I put it directly under my mattress.
Second night, I slept directly on the wedge, but with my pillow under my head.
I want to try putting it....under my 3-inch memory foam topper (between topper and actual mattress).
Once I try all the different ways, I will decide which way works best for me.
